NO WORDS NO WORDS es la propuesta colectiva de un grupo de 29 fotógrafos que se han unido para tratar de forma conjunta su relación personal con la fotografía. La fuerza de estas imágenes da sentido al título de esta muestra, ya que el impacto visual hace superfluo el uso de palabras para explicar su sentido, contenido o razón. Desde estampas intimistas hasta retratos de crítica social, NO WORDS no ofrece un relato único y lineal, sino la expresión de un sentir individual, del fotógrafo con su obra, y de ésta con el espectador. Pasear por esta galería de imágenes puede transportarnos a lugares insospechados de nuestra mente y a parajes insólitos de la conducta, pero también a escondites desconocidos del mundo y a paisajes nostálgicos de la memoria. Al mismo tiempo, la exposición es una reivindicación de la fotografía como disciplina artística con entidad propia, como cauce de creación contemporánea llena de calidad y lenguaje comunicativo. La exposición recoge una obra por artista, con unas medidas aproximadas de 50 x 70 cm, con la finalidad de que el formato ayude a la transición entre obras y se genere una continuidad visual fluida y dinámica. Este grupo de creadores que ha trabajado de forma colectiva desde 2013 presenta ahora este último proyecto, que sintetiza en buena medida su evolución como fotógrafos y su identidad creadora. Marta Areces

La fotografía en soporte químico es la base de su formación, que comienza en 2005. Desde entonces, asiste a talleres, seminarios y conferencias buscando nuevas miradas y maestros. Participa en exposiciones colectivas desde 2011: Analógicos y Hablando en plata I, II, III y IV, itinerante por España. Fue ponente en la primera edición de Fotoart Mujer. Presentó sus trabajos dentro de las Jornadas Hablando en Plata y en las Jornadas Internacionales de Fotoperiodismo en Oviedo, y formó parte también ese mis-mo año (2013) de entreFotos y MirartePhoto. Exposiciones Individuales: El regalo de la confianza (2012) y Todavía la Tierra (2014). Finalista de Foto Gijón 2013 y 2014, mereció una Mención Especial en 2015 y obtuvo un Accésit en el Premio Internacional Focus on Women 2015.

Photography with chemical media is the basis of her training, which began in 2005. Since then, she has attended workshops, seminars and conferences seeking new perspectives and teachers. She has participated in group exhibitions since 2011: Analógicos and Hablando en plata I, II, III and IV, travelling around Spain. She was a speaker at the first edition of FotoArtMujer. She presented her work at the Hablando en Plata Conference and the International Conference of Photojournalism in Oviedo, and in the same year (2013) was also involved in entreFotos and MirartePhoto. Individual exhibitions: The gift of trust (2012) and Still the Earth (2014). Finalist at Photo Gijon 2013 and 2014, she earned a Special Mention in 2015 and won a second prize in the Focus on Women International Award 2015.

Javier Ayuso

Nacido en Madrid en 1981. Su formación como fotógrafo comienza en 1999-2001 en la escuela CEV. En 2009, realiza el Máster en Fotografía Conceptual y Artística de EFTI. Ha trabajado como asistente y retocador de fotógrafos como Chema Madoz, Ouka Leele, Ángel Marcos, Rosa Muñoz, y actualmente, Javier Vallhonrat. Alterna su actividad profesional como fotógrafo comercial con su trabajo personal, que ha expuesto de forma individual en la galería Spectrum Sotos (2011, Zaragoza), Kursala (2012, Cádiz), EFTI (2012, Madrid), Pa-ta-ta Festival (2013, Granada), CEART (2013, Madrid), One Shot Hotel (2014, Madrid), BFoto, sala UNED (2015, Barbastro, Huesca), y de forma colectiva en la galería Riaña Lupa, MadridFoto, Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, Casa/Arte y CentroCentro, entre otros. En el año 2014 fue seleccionado en la sección Descubrimientos del festival PHotoEspaña.

Born in Madrid in 1981, his training as a photographer began in 1999-2001 at the CEV school. In 2009 he completed a Master of Conceptual and Artistic Photography at the EFTI. He has worked as an assistant and retoucher for photographers such as Chema Madoz, Ouka Leele, Angel Marcos, Rosa Muñoz, and currently, Javier Vallhonrat. He al-ternates his career as a commercial photographer with his personal work, which he has exhibited individually at the Spectrum Sotos Gallery (2011, Saragossa), Kursala (2012, Cadiz), EFTI (2012, Madrid), Pa-ta-ta festival (2013, Granada), CEART (2013, Madrid), One Shot hotel (2014, Madrid), and collectively at the Riana Lupa Gallery, MadridFoto, Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, Casa/Arte and CentroCentro, among others. In 2014, he was selected in PHE14 Discoveries.

César Blay

Diseñador gráfico y fotógrafo, nacido en Gandía (Valencia). Estudió Artes Gráficas y, más tarde, Diseño Gráfico Publicitario en la escuela Barreira de Valencia. Asimismo, se formó como fotógrafo en la escuela CEV de Madrid y como diseñador web. Ha trabajado para empresas de publicidad y como diseñador freelance. A partir de 2007, comenzó a realizar exposiciones de fotografía e ilustración tanto individuales como colectivas, entre ellas Muros, Juegos ocultos o Grrruñidos. Además, ha ganado varios concursos de fotografía y fue seleccionado en Descubrimientos PHE13, dentro del festival PHotoEspaña.

Born in Gandía, in Valencia, César Blay is a graphic designer and photographer. He studied graphic arts and later, Advertising Graphic Design at the Barreira School in Valencia. He also trained as a photographer at the CEV School in Madrid and as a web designer. He has worked for advertising agencies and as a freelance designer. In 2007, he began putting on both individual and collective photography and illustration exhibitions, including Walls, Hidden Games and Grrruñidos. He has also won several photography competitions and was selected in PHE13 Discoveries at the PHotoEspaña festival.

Álvaro Calvo

Nacido en Huesca (España) en 1980. Técnico superior en Fotografía Artística, continúa completando su formación con diversos cursos y talleres internacionales de fotografía. Actualmente, compagina su trabajo con el Máster PHotoEspaña, en Madrid. Álvaro Calvo López comenzó su carrera profesional trabajando en diferentes medios, como Heraldo de Aragón o la agencia EFE. Sus fotografías se publican en los principales medios de comunicación españoles, como El País, El Mundo o La Vanguardia. Haparticipado en numerosas muestras, tanto individuales como colectivas, y su obra ha sido finalista en concursos internacionales, como la beca internacional de fotografía Roberto Villagraz, de la madrileña escuela de fotografía EFTI, la beca Antonio Saura, de la Diputación de Huesca, y la Beca del Seminario de Fotografía y periodismo de la Fundación Santa María de Albarracín, así como en festivales internacionales de fotografía y artes visuales, como Descubrimientos, de PHotoEspaña.

Born in Huesca (Spain) in 1980. Senior technician in Artistic Photography, he continues his training with various international photography courses and workshops. Currently, he combines his work with the PHotoEspaña Master’s Course in Madrid. Alvaro López Calvo began his career working in different media, such as Heraldo de Aragón and the EFE Agency. His photographs are published in major Spanish media such as El País, El Mundo and La Vanguardia. He has participated in numerous exhibitions, both individual and collective, and he has been a finalist in international competitions such as the Roberto Villagraz International Photography Scholarship of the Madrid school of photography EFTI, the Antonio Saura Scholarship of the Council of Huesca, and the Photography and Journalism Seminar Scholarship of the Santa María de Albarracín Foundation, and at international photography and visual arts festivals, such as Discoveries, of PHotoEspaña.

Cristina Calvo

El medio fotográfico es para Cristina Calvo una manera de explorar su curiosidad y su relación con el entorno urbano. Su fotografía podría describirse como una colección ilustrada de ideas, momentos, objetos y personas. Cristina Calvo estudió fotografía profesional en la escuela de Amayur de San Sebastián. Inspirada por una ciudad que la seduce desde el primer instante, en 2006 decide mudarse a Londres, donde reside y trabaja desde entonces. Realizó el curso de Fotografía, Arte y Arquitectura de la Universidad de Saint Martins y, más recientemente, un BA en Artes Fotográficas en la Universidad de Westminster. También ha expuesto sus trabajos en diferentes exposiciones colectivas en Londres, además de publicar artículos en la revista Irudimena de la Escuela de Cine y Vídeo del País Vasco. Actualmente trabaja como docente en el curso de introducción al laboratorio de blanco y negro en la Universidad de Westminster.

In the photographic medium Cristina Calvo finds a way to explore her curiosity and her relationship with the urban environment. Her photography can be described as an illustrated collection of ideas, moments, objects and people. Cristina Calvo studied professional photography at the Amayur School in San Sebastián. Inspired by a city that has appealed to her from the outset, in 2006 she decided to move to London, where she has lived and worked ever since. She completed the course in Photography, Art and Architecture at the University of Saint Martins and, more recently, a BA in Photographic Arts at the University of Westminster, and has exhibited her work in various group exhibitions in London, in addition to publishing articles in the magazine Irudimena of the School of Film and Video of the Basque Country. Currently, she works in the Hemera Commissioners Group and as a teacher on the black and white laboratory introductory course at the University of Westminster

Alejandra Carles-Tolrá

Tras licenciarse en Sociología en la Universitat de Barcelona, Alejandra Carles-Tolrá se mudó a Estados Unidos para centrarse en su carrera como fotógrafa. Desde entonces reside en el país, donde ejerce como profesora de fotografía. Tras trabajar para varios fotógrafos y galerías de arte, en 2013 se graduó con un Master of Fine Arts en fotografía de MassArt (Boston), donde tuvo la oportunidad de estudiar bajo la supervisión de Abelardo Morell, Nick Nixon, David Hilliard y otros prestigiosos fotógrafos. Su trabajo ha sido reconocido por LensCulture, The New York Times PhotoAwards, Descubrimientos PHotoEspaña, la revista OjodePez, la galería Valid Foto BCN, Griffin Museum of Photography y Dan Cooney Fine Art Gallery, entre otros. Asimismo, su obra ha sido ex-puesta en Nueva York, Seattle, Barcelona, Boston y Philadelphia, entre otras ciudades.

After completing her degree in Sociology at the University of Barcelona, Alejandra Carles-Tolrá moved to the United States of America to focus on her career as a photographer. She continues to live there and works as a professor of photography. After working for several photographers and art galleries, in 2013 she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in MassArt photography (Boston), where she had the opportunity to study under the supervision of Abelardo Morell, Nick Nixon, David Hilliard and other renowned photographers. Carlos Folgoso

En 2005 realiza su primer trabajo personal, The Casual Passer-by, un recorrido a través de la sociedad londinense en los tiempos después de los atentados de Al Qaeda. En 2008 puso en marcha el proyecto Sitio aparte do mundo. En 2011 comienza Galiza, terra dos meus pais, un reportaje sobre las contradicciones de su propia tierra. Y en 2012, comienza The Ghost Ship, un reportaje en profundidad sobre el desastre del Costa Concordia. Carlos Folgoso trabaja como fotógrafo para medios como The British Journal of Photography, Vanity Fair, Magnumphotos Blog, Der Spiegel, Paris Match, L’Espresso, Sette, L’Internazionale, Gentleman, Lady’s, Io Donna, Chi, Corriere della Sera, El País, ABC, La Voz de Galicia o Diario de Arousa. Entre sus premios, destacan el Premio Nacional Artes Plásticas Universidad de Zaragoza (2005), el Premio Galicia en Foco (2012), la Mención de Honor Foconorte (2008) o el Premio Western Union (2007). Además, fue seleccionado en la sección Descubrimientos del festival PHotoEspaña 2013. Actualmente vive entre La Toscana y Galicia.

Pedro Galisteo

Nació en Ontinyent (1985), y actualmente reside en Valencia. Es fotógrafo freelance de reportaje documental y colabora asiduamente con la agencia Cordon Press en el ámbito del reportaje documental y de denuncia social. Diplomado en Estudios Fotográficos por el Espai d’Art Fotogràfic de Valencia (2011-2013) y especializado en Reportaje Documental por la Escuela Ultravioleta de Madrid (2013-2014), se ha formado con fotógrafos como Tomás Manrique, Pep Bonet o Manu Brabo. En su trabajo fotográfico busca sacar a la luz historias de diferentes colectivos afectados por diversos problemas, para lo que utiliza el reportaje documental enmarcado en el contexto actual de crisis en España. Su trabajo Crisis textil en la Comunitat Valenciana ha sido seleccionado en Descubrimientos PHE14, y fue premiado con el primer premio en el I Concurso de Fotografía de Reportaje de UVFOTO y con el tercer premio en el 58 Salón Internacional de Fotografía Ciutat de Xàtiva 2013. En 2014, publicó cinco reportajes en la revista Interviú, y ha recibido una mención de honor en los premios internacionales de fotografía IPA 2014 en la categoría de noticias generales con el trabajo Desde la sexta planta.

Pedro Galisteo was born in Ontinyent (1985) and currently lives in Valencia. His main activity is as a freelance photographer for documentary reportage, working assiduously with the Cordon Press agency in the field of documentary reportage and social criticism. He has a diploma in Photographic Studies from the Espai d’Art Fotogràfic in Valencia (2011-2013) and he is specialized in Documentary Reportage at the Escuela Ultravioleta in Madrid (2013-2014), he has trained with photographers such as Thomas Manrique, Pep Bonet and Manu Brabo. The main activity he carries out in the world of photography is to bring to light stories about various groups who are suffering different problems, for which he uses documentary reportage in the context of the current crisis in Spain. His work Textile Crisis in Valencia has been selected in PHE14 Discoveries, and he was awarded first prize in the UVFOTO Reporting Photography Contest and third prize at the 58th International Photography Fair in the City of Xàtiva in 2013. In 2014, he published five reports in the magazine Interviú, in its printed and online edition, and has been awarded an honourable mention at the International Photography Awards IPA 2014 in the category of general news with the work From the sixth floor.

Rubén García

Nacido en Almería (España), en 1975, es un fotógrafo autodidacta. Realiza fotografía de retrato documental desde 2011. Al principio de su carrera también hizo desnudo artístico. En la actualidad, está centrado cada vez más en proyectos de carácter personal de largo plazo en los que explora con una mirada clásica diversos temas del entramado social almeriense. Ha publicado dos libros: Rubén García: la tradición del desnudo (Mestizo-NAVE KA) y Prostitución. Retratos de una vida en la calle (autoedición). Ha expuesto su trabajo en numerosas exposiciones individuales y colectivas en ciudades como Madrid, Oporto, Arezzo, Vigo o Tokio. Además, ha participado en festivales de fotografía como Fotonoviembre (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), PhotOn Festival (Valencia) o Imaginària (Castellón). En 2013, fue seleccionado en el programa Descubrimientos del festival PHotoEspaña (Madrid) y también fue finalista de la III Beca PhotOn Festival (Valencia). En 2014 fue finalista en el Prémio Internacional de Fotografia Emergentes 2014 del festival Encontros da Imagem (Braga). Ha publicado sus trabajos en medios como Super Foto Digital, FV Foto-Vídeo Actualidad, Fotogramas, El Mundo y Visão Sete (Portugal). Su obra figura en importantes colecciones, como la del Centro Português de Fotografia (C.P.F.) de Oporto o la del Centro de Fotografía Isla de Tenerife de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, entre otras.

Born in Almería (Spain) in 1975, he is a self-taught photographer. He has been doing documentary portrait photography since 2011. Early in his career he also did artistic nude photography. Today, he focuses increasingly on long-term personal projects in which he explores different topics of the social fabric of Almeria with a classic touch. He has published two books: Rubén García: the tradition of the nude (Mestizo-NAVE KA) and Prostitution. Portraits of street life (self-published). He has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in cities such as Madrid, Porto, Arezzo, Vigo and Tokyo. He has also participated in photography festivals such as Fotonoviembre (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), PhotOn Festival (Valencia) and Imaginària (Castellón). In 2013, he was selected in the PHE13 Discoveries at the PHotoEspaña festival (Madrid) and was also a finalist in the III PhotOn Festival Scholarship (Valencia). In 2014 he was a finalist in the International Emerging Photographers Award 2014 at the Encontros da Imagem Festival (Braga). The numerous magazines and newspapers in which he has published work include Super Foto Digital, FV Foto-Vídeo Actualidad, Fotogramas, El Mundo and Visão Sete (Portugal). His work appears in major collections, such as the Portuguese Photography Centre (CPF) in Porto and the Island of Tenerife Photography Centre in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, among others.

Nicolás Haro

Nace en Sevilla (España), en 1965. Hace su bachillerato en Inglaterra, en el Connaught College, Bath. Estudia Psicología en la Universidad de Sevilla y después vuelve a Inglaterra donde estudia fotografía de manera autodidacta y trabaja durante dos años como ayudante del fotógrafo David Tack (en la elaboración de su libro Impressions of Spain). A su regreso a España, comienza su actividad en la fotografía comercial y de arquitectura e interiores colaborando con distintas revistas como: Proyecto Contract, Nuevo Estilo o Casa&Campo. Más adelante, colabora también en The Times Magazine, The International Herald Tribune, The New York Times, The Paris Review, The Sunday Times, The Independent y The Chicago Tribune. Su andadura personal y autodidacta en la búsqueda de la significación de la imagen fotográfica le lleva a viajar por distintos países y a realizar proyectos personales que expone y publica en distintas galerías y editoriales.

Born in Seville (Spain) in 1965, he took his GCSE A levels in England, at the Connaught College, Bath. He studied psychology at the University of Seville and then returned to England, where he taught himself photography and worked for two years as an assistant to the photographer David Tack (in preparing his book Impressions of Spain). On his return to Spain, he began working in commercial photography and architecture and interiors photography collaborating with various magazines, such as: Proyecto Contract, Nuevo Estilo and Casa&Campo. Later, he also collaborated in various articles in The Times Magazine, The International Herald Tribune, The New York Times, The Paris Review, The Sunday Times, The Independent and The Chicago Tribune. His personal and self-taught career in search of the meaning of the photographic image led him to travel to different countries and carry out personal projects which he exhibits and publishes in various galleries and publishers.

Oliver Haupt

Nacido en Colonia (Alemania), estudió fotografía en Bielefeld. Al terminar sus estudios, realizó varias exposiciones colectivas en Bielefeld y en Múnich, así como varios encargos para distintas agencias. Más tarde, se incorporó a diversas agencias de publicidad como director de arte. Trabaja en Hamburgo, Londres y Madrid. En 2007, decidió centrarse en la fotografía y fundó el estudio The Unknown Artist, especializada en fotografía de encargo para revistas, agencias y otros clientes, como Mercedes, Vodafone, Cacique, El País Semanal, H Magazine, Fortuna, TVE, Campofrío, Álex de la Iglesia, Ayuntamiento de Madrid o ING DIRECT. En Arles y Malasia ha expuesto sus trabajos con la galería Huit, de Arles. Ha ganado premios nacionales e internacionales y ha obtenido durante cuatro años consecutivos varias medallas en el Px3 Prix de la Photographie Paris. Desde su estudio en Madrid, Oliver Haupt trabaja para clientes de toda Europa.

Born in Cologne (Germany), he studied photography in Bielefeld. After finishing his studies, he put on several exhibitions in Bielefeld and Munich, and carried out several commissions for different agencies. After that he joined various advertising agencies as art director. He works in Hamburg, London and Madrid. In 2007, he decided to focus on the world of photography and founded the studio, The Unknown Artist, specializing in custom photography for magazines, agencies and other clients such as Mercedes, Vodafone, Cacique, El País Semanal, H Magazine, Fortuna, TVE, Campofrío, Álex de la Iglesia, Madrid City Council and ING DIRECT. In Arles and Malaysia he has exhibited his work at the Huit gallery, Arles. He has won national and international awards and for the fourth year running has won several medals in the Px3 Prix de la Photographie Paris. From his studio in Madrid, Oliver Haupt works for clients all over Europe.

Andrejs Kovalovs

La fotografía es su segunda profesión desde el año 2000, cuando descubre que el retrato y la historia que hay detrás de cada imagen es lo que le gustaría saber contar. De 2006 a 2009, participó en distintos talleres de la escuela de fotografía ISSP, en Letonia, con profesores de Japón, Turquía o España, y en ellos estudió el retrato, la fotografía documental y el proceso analógico en blanco y negro. En el año 2011, con su trabajo Familia, obtuvo la beca Roberto Villagraz de la escuela de fotografía EFTI, de Madrid. El premio supuso un fuerte impulso en su trabajo y la posibilidad de especiali-zarse en fotografía documental. Durante el año que estudió en EFTI, profundizó en el tema de la familia con la serie titulada Las familias mixtas, con la que consiguió el Primer Premio de la promoción 2011. En el año 2013, en la Universidad Miguel Hernández, de Elche, obtuvo el título de Experto Universitario de Artes Visuales.

Photography has been his second profession since 2000 when Andrejs Kovalovs discovered that the portrait and the story behind every image is what he would like to know how to tell. From 2006 to 2009 he participated in various workshops at the ISSP photography school in Latvia, with teachers from Japan, Turkey and Spain and where he studied portraiture, documentary photography and the black and white analogue process. In 2011, for with his work Family, he won the Roberto Villagraz scholarship from the EFTI Photography School in Madrid. The prize gave a strong impetus to his work and the opportunity to specialise in documentary photography. During his year studying at EFTI, he made an in-depth study of the theme of the family with the series entitled Mixed families, with which he won the First Prize of the 2011 promotion. In 2013, at the Miguel Hernández University in Elche, he obtained the qualification of University Expert in Visual Arts.

Jesús Labandeira

Nacido en Madrid en 1963, Víctor Jesús Labandeira es fotógrafo aficionado desde su época de estudiante. En los setenta y ochenta, abandonó su vocación para licenciarse en ESIC y en Dirección y Gestión de Empresas. Tras más de veinte años inmerso en el sector empresarial, retoma la fotografía. Realiza en la escuela EFTI el Máster conceptual y artístico, y en PIC.A (Escuela Internacional Alcobendas PHotoEspaña) el Máster PHotoEspaña en fotografía: teorías y proyectos artísticos. Su trabajo ha sido incluido en exposiciones en EFTI, Tarazona Foto, Galería Cero, Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, Ayuntamiento de San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid), Palacio del Infantado de Guadalajara (MirartePhoto), Centro de Arte de Alcobendas (Fotonoche), Centro Cultural Anabel Segura, Real Sociedad Fotográfica de Madrid y Descubrimientos PHE14.

Born in Madrid in 1963, Víctor Jesús Labandeira has been a keen amateur photographer since his student days. In the seventies and eighties he abandoned his vocation to graduate in Sales Management and Marketing and Business Management. After more than twenty years immersed in the business sector, he took up photography again. He studied the conceptual and artistic Master’s course at EFTI and at the PIC.A (Escuela Internacional Alcobendas), PHotoEspaña master’s course in photography: artistic theories and projects. His work has been included in exhibitions in EFTI, Tarazona Foto, Galería Cero, Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, San Sebastián de los Reyes Town Hall (Madrid), Palace of the Infantry in Guadalajara (MirartePhoto), Alcobendas Arts Centre (Fotonoche), Anabel Segura Cultural Centre, Royal Photographic Society of Madrid and entreFotos and PHE14 Discoveries.

Diambra Mariani

Nacida en Verona (Italia), en 1982, se licenció en Derecho en Milán y realizó un Máster en Fotografía en Venecia. En 2010, empezó a trabajar como fotógrafa independiente y, en 2011, entró en la Prospekt Agency de Milán. Ha viajado por Latinoamérica, Afganistán, Sierra Leona, Palestina y Europa del este. Sus fotografías se han expuesto en Italia y en festivales como Les Rencontres d’Arles, Nuit de l’Année, Fotoleggendo Roma, Inner Vision about the World, Slideluck London, Format Festival, feria Art Madrid y Valid Foto Barcelona, entre otros. Asimismo, ha publicado en The Sunday Times Magazine, D La Repubblica delle Donne, L’Espresso, Vanity Fair, Corriere della Sera y Sport Week, entre otros medios. En 2010, ganó el primer premio de los Inail/ Prospekt Awardsy, en 2011, obtuvo una mención especial en los premios Giovanni Tabò. En 2013 fue seleccionada en la sección Descubrimientos del festival PHotoEspaña y, en 2014, fue una de las finalistas del Premio de Fotografía de la Fundació Vila Casas. Está representada por Marc Decoene Fine Art Gallery. Vive entre Barcelona y Verona.

Born in Verona (Italy) in 1982, she graduated in Law in Milan and took a Master in Photography in Venice. In 2010 she began working as a freelance photographer and in 2011 she joined the Prospekt Agency in Milan. Veronika Márquez

A partir del año 2008, tienen lugar principalmente en Madrid las exposiciones individuales más relevantes de esta fotógrafa: en el Centro Cultural Finlandés, en la galería My Name Is Lolita, en la galería Cero, en La Tabacalera o en el Matadero, así como en el Museo Da2 (Salamanca). En el año 2010, su obra Camila es elegida por Stephen Cohen Gallery para formar parte de la galería en Los Ángeles. Su obra se ha visto en numerosos festivales internacionales, ferias de arte y exposiciones colectivas en diversos países, como Alemania, Grecia, Camboya, Israel, Francia, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra, Taiwán, Argentina y Uruguay. También ha participado en residencias de artistas en Chashama (Nueva York) y Halsnø y Kloster Residence (Noruega). Recientemente, acaba de presentar su trabajo en mix media para formar parte de Les Rencontres d´Arles (Off).

Georges Pacheco

Después de haber obtenido un Máster en Psicología Experimental de la Percepción y en Psicología del Arte en la Universidad de París X-Nanterre, y de haberse graduado en la École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie en Arles en 2012, Georges Pacheco ha dedicado estos últimos años a examinar en profundidad la condición humana. Adaptando sus recursos y dispositivos a cada problemática distinta, Pacheco intenta entender cómo funcionan los procesos de representación en el retrato fotográfico. Ha expuesto, entre otros lugares, en la galería Le Château d’Eau, en Toulouse (2007), en el Centro Português de Fotografia (C.P.F.) de Oporto (2007), en el festival Mai-Photographies de Quimper (2008) y en el Pôle de Photographies Stimultania de Estrasburgo (2009), así como en la galería IMMIX en París (2011). Su obra también ha sido proyectada en el Festival Voies Off en Arles (2008), en el festival Image Singulières en Sete (2009) y en las Journées Photographiques de Bienne (2012), y ha sido uno de los trabajos finalistas del Premio Rado Star Prize (2012). Ha sido finalista en muchos concursos nacionales e internacionales, y ha recibido el Prix de l’Atelier Voies Off durante el festival de Arles (2007). En 2013, Amaltée fue homenajeada en Londres por la London International Creative Competition, nombrando a Georges Pacheco Artista del Año.

After obtaining a Masters in Experimental Psychology of Perception and Psychology of Art at the X-Nanterre University of Paris, and after graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles in 2012, Georges Pacheco has spent the last several years making an in-depth examination of the human condition. Adapting his resources and devices to each different problem, Pacheco attempts to understand how the processes of representation work in the photographic portrait. Georges Pacheco has exhibited, among other places, in the Château d’Eau gallery in Toulouse (2007), the Portuguese Centre of Photography (CPF) in Porto (2007), the Mai-Photographies festival in Quimper (2008), in the Pôle de Photographies Stimultania in Strasbourg (2009) and in the IMMIX gallery in Paris (2011). His work has also been screened at the Voies Off festival in Arles (2008), the ImageSingulières festival in Sete (2009) and the Journées Photographiques in Bienne (2012), and has been one of the finalists of the Rado Star Prize Award (2012). Many times finalist in national and international competitions, Georges Pacheco has received the Prix de l’Atelier Voies Off during the festival in Arles (2007) . In 2013, Amaltée was honoured in London by the London International Creative Competition, naming Georges Pacheco Artist of the Year.

Robert Harding Pittman

Este fotógrafo creció entre Boston y Hamburgo, hijo de madre alemana y padre estadounidense. Después de cursar un máster en Ingeniería Medioambiental en U.C. Berkeley, realizó estudios en fotografía, cine y vídeo en el California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts). Su interés principal en sus fotografías y películas documentales es el medioambiente y su vínculo con la cultura, y cómo ambos se enfrentan al desarrollo económico. Su trabajo ha podido verse en festivales y exposiciones individuales y colectivas en todo el mundo. Ha recibido diversos premios y está presente en varias colecciones públicas y privadas. Su proyecto y libro fotográfico ANONYMIZATION, pu-blicado por la editorial Kehrer, fue nominado para el Deutscher Fotobuchpreis (Premio del Fotolibro Alemán) y para el Prix Pictet en el apartado Consumo.

This photographer grew up between Boston and Hamburg, the son of a German mother and an American father. After completing a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering at U.C. Berkeley, he took a Master of Fine Arts in photography, film and video at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). His main interest in his photographs and documentary films is the environment and its relationship to culture, and how both are affected by economic development. His work has been exhibited at festivals and solo and group exhibitions all over the world, has received several awards and is represented in several public and private collections. His photographic project and book ANONYMIZATION, published by Kehrer Verlag, was nominated for the Deutscher Fotobuchpreis (German Photobook Prize) and the Prix Pictet under the theme Consumption.

Rubén Plasencia

Entre 2007 y 2009, estudia Imagen en Tenerife y se especializa en fotografía.Tras trabajar durante cuatro años como asistente de fotografía, gana una beca para realizar estudios de postgrado y se traslada a Madrid para estudiar en la escuela de fotografía EFTI, donde descubre el placer por los retratos de estudio, convirtiendo este en su lugar preferido de trabajo. Su obra ha sido seleccionada en festivales internacionales de fotografía, como Descubrimientos PHE13 de PHotoEspaña, y ha sido expuesta en festivales como Circulation(s) (París, 2014), Fotonoviembre (Tenerife, 2013) o Le voyage à Nantes (Nantes, 2014).

Between 2007 and 2009 he studied Image in Tenerife, specializing in photography. After working for four years as assistant photographer, he won a scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies and moved to Madrid to study at the EFTI School of Photography, where he discovered the pleasure of studio portraits, turning this into his favourite workplace. His work has been selected in international photography festivals, such as PHE13 Discoveries of PHotoEspaña, and has been exhibited at festivals such as Circulation(s) (Paris, 2014), Fotonoviembre (Tenerife, 2013) and Le Voyage à Nantes (Nantes, 2014).

Manel Quirós

Fotógrafo independiente nacido en Barcelona, en 1984. Reside en Escocia desde 2010. Realizó sus estudios de Fotografía, Tratamiento de la Imagen y Comunicación en la Universitat de Valencia (España), y de Comunicación Visual, Medios de Comunicación en Nuevas Tecnologías y Fotoperiodismo en Edimburgo y Glasgow. Miembro de la Asociación Alemana de Prensa General News Service y miembro activo de CC ONG, ha colaborado con Cruz Roja Española, Cruz Roja Burkinabe, Acnur y el World Food Programme (WFP) de Estados Unidos. En 2014, es seleccionado en la sección Descubrimientos del festival PHotoEspaña (Madrid). Fue finalista en el Premio Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo Combat Prize 2014 en Livorno, Italia. Ha expuesto su obra en el Museo Civico Giovanni Fattoride Livorno y en el Museo de Historia Natural de la misma ciudad. Actualmente, Manel se dedica a proyectos personales a largo plazo.

Freelance photographer born in Barcelona in 1984. He has lived in Scotland since 2010. He graduated in Photography, Image Processing and Communication at the University of Valencia (Spain), and Visual Communication, Media in New Technologies and Photojournalism in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Member of the German Association of General News Service Press and active member of the NGO CC, he has collaborated with the Spanish Red Cross, Burkinabe Red Cross, UNHCR and World Food Programme (WFP) United States. In 2014 he was selected in the PHE14 Discoveries at the PHotoEspaña festival (Madrid). He was a finalist in the International Contemporary Art Award Combat Prize 2014 in Livorno, Italy, he has exhibited his work at the Museo Civico Giovanni Fattori in Livorno and the Museo di Storia Naturale di Livorno. Manel is currently working on long-term personal projects.

Fernanda Ramos

Artista multidisciplinar nacida en el sur de Brasil, vive y trabaja en España, tras pasar temporadas en países como Francia, Grecia, Italia, Túnez, Turquía y Uruguay. Las experiencias relacionadas con estos países han influido de forma muy relevante en su investigación y producción. Ha desarrollado su trabajo en lenguajes como la fotografía, el vídeo y la instalación, con los que ha centrado su investigación en torno a la memoria a partir del relato y sobre la consecuente relación de la identidad individual o colectiva con el territorio. Licenciada en Comunicación Social, especializada en fotografía, y Máster en Producción Artística, ha mostrado su obra en exposiciones individuales y colectivas, además de participar en diversos festivales internacionales.

A multidisciplinary artist born in southern Brazil, Fernanda Ramos lives and works in Spain, after spending time in other countries including France, Greece, Italy, Tunisia, Turkey and Uruguay. Her experiences in these countries have had a very significant influence on her research and production. She has worked with media such as photography, video and installation, with which she has focused her research on memory based on stories and the consequent relationship of individual or collective identity with the territory. With a degree in Social Communication, specializing in photography, and a Masters in Artistic Production, she has held solo and group exhibitions and participated in various international festivals.

Juan Rodríguez

Nació en Madrid, en 1980. En 2003, terminó sus estudios de Psicología en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Poco después, comenzó a estudiar fotografía en la Universidad Popular de Alcobendas de Madrid. Desde el principio, se interesa por la fotografía documental. Realiza su primer proyecto en el Sahara Occidental en 2009, fotografiando los campos de refugiados de Tindouf, Argelia. Con este proyecto, monta su primera exposición individual en la misma Universidad Popular. Posteriormente, este trabajo es seleccionado para el certamen Fotonoche 2010, organizado por el Ayuntamiento de Alcobendas. Ese mismo año, comienza a trabajar en un nuevo proyecto titulado Cinco manzanas a la redonda, en el que retrata la vida del barrio en el que creció. Y a raíz de este trabajo, empieza a interesarse por la fotografía urbana, e inicia así un nuevo proyecto sobre la vida en las ciudades. Con esta reciente serie, Una gran ciudad, es seleccionado para participar en Descubrimientos PHE13 del festival PHotoEspaña.

Born in Madrid in 1980, in 2003, he completed his studies in Psychology at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Soon after, he started studying photography at the Universidad Popular de Alcobendas in Madrid. From the outset, he became interested in documentary photography. He carried out his first project in the Western Sahara in 2009, photographing the refugee camps in Tindouf, Algeria. With this project, he mounted his first solo exhibition at the Universidad Popular itself. Subsequently, this work was selected for the Fotonoche 2010 event, organized by the Alcobendas Town Council. That same year, he began work on a new project entitled Cinco manzanas a la redonda, which portrays the life of the neighbourhood in which he grew up. And as a result of this work, he began to show an interest in urban photography, beginning a new project about life in the city. With this recent series, A big city, he was selected to participate in PHE13 Discoveries at the PHotoEspaña festival.

Emilio Roselló

Artista, teórico de la imagen, investigador y profesor universitario, Emilio Roselló (Valencia) estudia las imágenes para indagar sobre los asuntos propios de la cultura posfotográfica, cuestionando cánones fotográficos como el desretrato o la reencarnación del sujeto posfotográfico. Ha expuesto su obra en museos y colecciones en España, Francia y Hungría. Entre otros reconocimientos, ha sido seleccionado en la VI Convocatoria de Artes Plásticas de la Diputación de Alicante, consiguió el primer galardón en el Premio Senyera de Arte de Valencia y el primer premio del Certamen «Miradas desde el arte del dibujo y la fotografía. Espacios naturales alicantinos, parques y jardines», en 2010. En 2013, participa con el proyecto Formar de un error en el programa Descubrimientos PHE13 del festival PHotoEspaña, donde se interesan por su obra el FOMU – Photography Museum de Bélgica, el George Eastman House de Rochester (Nueva York) y el Festival des Arts Visuels de Vevey, en Suiza.

Artist, image theorist, researcher and university professor, Emilio Roselló (Valencia) examines images to investigate the issues of post-photographic culture, questioning photographic principles such as de-portraiture or the reincarnation of the post-photographic subject. He has exhibited his work in museums and collections in Spain, France and Hungary. He has won several awards and was selected in the 6th Plastic Arts Contest of the Provincial Council of Alicante. He won the first prize in the Senyera Art Awards of Valencia and the first prize in the event, “Views from the art of drawing and photography: natural areas, parks and gardens in Alicante”, in 2010. In 2013, he participated in the project, Learning from a mistake, in the PHE13 Discoveries programme of the PhotoEspaña festival, where the FOMU - Photography Museum of Belgium, the George Eastman House in Rochester (New York) and the Festival des Arts Visuels of Vevey in Switzerland showed an interest in his work.

Ely Sánchez

Nacido en Caracas (Venezuela), en 1970 se inicia profesionalmente en el terreno de la imagen a través de la arquitectura y el diseño gráfico. Posteriormente, continúa su carrera en la publicidad como director de arte y luego, en España, como director creativo. A lo largo de más de veinte años, su trabajo le ha permitido el privilegio de crear y aprender de primera mano de importantes talentos de la fotografía española. En 2013, fue seleccionado en Descubrimientos PHE13 del festival PHotoEspaña de Madrid.

Born in Caracas (Venezuela) in 1970, he started working professionally in the field of image through architecture and graphic design. Later, he continued his career in advertising as an art director and then in Spain, as creative director. For more than twenty years, his work has allowed him the privilege of creating and learning first-hand from major talents of Spanish photography. In 2013, he was selected in the PHE13 Discoveries programme of the PhotoEspaña festival in Madrid.

Juan Sande

Es ingeniero y, durante los últimos años, ha trabajado como profesional en el sector naval. Actualmente desarrolla su ocupación profesional en actividades en torno a la fotografía, exposiciones, docencia, reportajes, etc. Su pasión por la fotografía comienza en 1982, pero no es hasta la década de 2010 cuando desarrolla un trabajo intelectual y de investigación en torno al mundo de la imagen. Después de participar en distintos talleres y cursos, en 2011 se gradúa como experto universitario en artes visuales: fotografía y acción creativa por la Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche. Destaca su participación en el festival internacional Encontros da Imagem de Braga (Portugal), en 2012. Ese mismo año, es seleccionado para participar en Madrid en la feria de fotografía entreFotos XIV. Y en 2013, también es seleccionado en la sección Descubrimientos del festival PHotoEspaña de Madrid.

Juan Sande is an engineer and, in recent years, has worked as a professional in the naval sector. Gabri Solera

Licenciado en Periodismo por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y Máster en Fotografía Digital y Creativa en la escuela EFTI de Madrid. Ha participado en Descubrimientos PHE12 (Madrid) y ferias como Estampa (Madrid), entreFotos (Madrid), Salida de Emergencia (Madrid) y MirartePhoto (Guadalajara). Ha realizado varias exposiciones individuales en Madrid y otras colectivas en lugares como el IVAM (Valencia), Museo Guggenheim (Bilbao), Instituto Cervantes, Círculo de Bellas Artes y Ayuntamiento (Madrid), Fundación Antonio Saura (Cuenca), e incluso en Alemania, Francia, Holanda, Portugal, China y Brasil. Ha ganado concursos como el de Alianza Francesa, Olympus, Fotoactitudes y Eurostars Hotels, y ha sido seleccionado en certámenes como Premio Artes Plásticas, Jóvenes Creadores, Imposible de Etiquetar y El Suelo. Se han publicado reseñas sobre su trabajo en diversos medios, como New Landscape Photography y Peripheral Arteries (NY), Journal du Net (París), Photographic Museum y Shots Photography Competition (Londres).

Óscar Vázquez Chambó

Nació en Algemesí (Valencia), España, en el año 1972. Óscar Vázquez Chambó dirige su propio estudio-galería, donde trabaja en la fotografía contemporánea. Realiza fotografía de estudio, fotografía para catálogos y editoriales, etc. Ha expuesto en lugares como la galería Ibalart, la Galería Ciclorama, El Fotómata y el museo MuVIM; y ha participado en festivales como FAP, Efímer, Incubarte, Ciutat Vella, Intramurs, y en las ferias de arte de Valencia y Estampa de Madrid. Ha sido finalista en diferentes concursos y obtuvo el segundo puesto en Nou Botànic 2009. Publica en El Mundo, Revistart, La Fotografía, Spherea, Mambo o Arouse. Además, colabora en proyectos como comisario de exposiciones y da clases magistrales en talleres con la Universidad de Valencia e imparte cursos en asociaciones y centros docentes.

He has been a finalist in various competitions and came second in NouBotànic 2009. He publishes in El Mundo, Revistart, La Fotografía, Spherea, Mambo, and Arouse. He also works on projects as curator of exhibitions, gives master classes in workshops at the University of Valencia, and teaches courses in associations and schools.

Lucia Ybarra

Nace en Menorca, en 1976, y se cría en Madrid. Estudia bachillerato de Artes en la Escuela de la Palma (Madrid), y trabaja tres años como ayudante de fotógrafo de publicidad. En 1998 se traslada a Cuba, y tras dos años de estudios, se gradúa en fotografía cinematográfica en la Escuela de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños. De vuelta a Madrid, trabaja como fotógrafa en largometrajes, así como también de directora de fotografía para cabeceras de televisión y videoarte. Después, realiza un proyecto de dos años para el Museo del Traje. Actualmente, compagina proyectos profesionales con trabajos en agencias publicitarias y con el desarrollo de su obra personal.Ha publicado en la revista OjodePez y ha participado en varias exposiciones colectivas. En 2014, es seleccionada en Descubrimientos PHE14 del festival PHotoEspaña (Madrid).

Born in Menorca in 1976 and raised in Madrid, she took her GCSE A Levels in Arts at the Palma School (Madrid), and worked three years as an assistant advertising photographer. In 1998 she moved to Cuba, and after two years of studies, she graduated in cinematography at the School of Cinema and Television of San Antonio de los Baños. Back in Madrid, she worked as a photographer in feature films and as director of photography for television headers and video art. She later carried out a two-year project for the Costume Museum. She currently combines professional work with projects for advertising agencies and the development of her personal work. She has published in the journal OjodePez and has participated in several group exhibitions. In 2014 she was selected in the PHE14 Discoveries programme of the PhotoEspaña festival.

Manuel Zamora

Nacido en Murcia (España), en 1970, estudió Artes Visuales, Fotografía y Acción Creativa en la Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche. Ha obtenido el Premio PHotoEspaña OjodePez de Valores Humanos 2013 y ha sido seleccionado en Descubrimientos PHE13 del festival PHotoEspaña. Entre sus exposiciones individuales más relevantes, destacan Mercados de Marruecos, celebrada en la sala Al-Ándalus, en el Parque de las Ciencias de Granada (2013), y Vidas recicladas, incluida dentro del festival PHotoEspaña, celebrada en FNAC Callao de Madrid (2013). Sus fotografías se han publicado en XL Semanal, OjodePez o La Fotografía.

Alfonso Zubiaga

Nació en Gecho (Vizcaya), en 1958. Se traslada a Londres en 1983, donde colaborara con El País, Cambio 16, Diario 16, Viajar... y en las películas Greystoke, de Hugh Hudson, e Indiana Jones y el templo maldito, de Steven Spielberg. Con estudio en Madrid desde 1985, colabora con las principales agencias de publicidad y editoriales. Ha ganado treinta premios en festivales internacionales de publicidad. Ha realizado cinco exposiciones individuales en la galería Vanguardia, Pepe Pisa y EFTI, y ha participado en más de treinta colectivas, entre las que destacan tres ediciones de ARCO, Madrid Foto, PHotoEspaña y Just Madrid. En 2010 recibe la beca Ivory Press C-Action C-Photo Magazine. Es profesor del Máster Internacional de Fotografía Conceptual y Artística en EFTI desde 2006.

He moved to Madrid in 1985, where he set up his own studio and collaborated with leading advertising agencies and publishers. He has won thirty awards at international advertising festivals. He has held five solo exhibitions at the Vanguardia, Pepe Pisa and EFTI galleries and taken part in more than thirty group exhibitions including three years at the ARCO, Madrid Foto, PhotoEspana and Just Madrid. In 2010 he received the Ivory Press C-Action C-Photo Magazine grant. He has been a teacher on the International Masters in Conceptual and Artistic Photography at EFTI since 2006.
