Junior hires a bookkeeper, Marge Sanders, whom he would later marry. The future Mrs. Amighetti tells her new client that his bread is “wonderful” but insists “we are going to do more than just sell it over the counter.”

Sandwiches can be cut into 9, 10 or 12 pieces.

Compared to three whole sandwiches, our party sandwiches have approximately 50% more meat on the same amount of bread.

Our party sandwiches feed anywhere from 3 college football players to 10 women in a bridge club. As a guideline, if this is the main course,

each party sandwich feeds 6 - 6.5 “average” eaters. If your group is particularly light eating or heavy eating, or if you are serving the

sandwich with other substantial food, adjust acccordingly.

Marge introduces the Amighetti’s Special to St. Louis after working everyday for eight

months to perfect what would become St. Louis’ signature sandwich.

Anheuser-Busch partners with Marge and Junior to expand Amighetti’s nationwide, including 30 new locations in St. Louis alone. Their first new location, in downtown St. Louis, is so successful that other restaurants boycott the brewery, forcing it to abandon it’s plans and sell it’s stake.

Anthony Favazza, a St. Louis native with deep ties to the Hill, purchases Amighetti’s. Anthony and his team reinvigorate Amighetti’s with a new menu focused on Italian and Italian-American cuisine. Over

the next two years, Amighetti’s sales grow at a rate not seen since Anheuser-Busch sold it’s stake in 1987.
