AUTO-CLEANING IONIZATION SYSTEM

Upon the recommendation of the Diocese and our Heating and Air Conditioning maintainers (Southeastern), we have installed, on all of the air handlers in the Cathedral, a Particle and Pathogen reduction system. The units are attached to each air handling unit of our HVAC system, and they are designed to reduce significantly any airborne particles (I.e., dust, pet dander, pollen). The GPS NPBI technology uses a process called agglomeration, whereby the ions attach to the airborne particles and the particles are subsequently attracted to one an-other, effectively increasing their mass and size. The air filtration system easily captures the larger particles, increasing the capture efficiency of our HVAC system. It should also make the indoor air smell fresher. During the GPS cleaning process, the NPBI technology attacks and kills viruses, mold spores and bacteria. The ions steal away hydrogen from the pathogens, leaving them to die, and leaving us with cleaner and healthier indoor air. It is our hope that the addition of this technology will make you a bit more comfortable about being in Church, with 250 other people, during this time of pandemic precautions. This is just one more precaution, along with masks and hand sanitizers, which will make the spread of the Coronavirus less likely. I did not study such things in my seminary years, so please don’t ask me about it! But I can tell you that I am glad it is available and I am happy that we have it. Rev. J. Gerard Schreck Rector

In today’s second reading, Saint Paul calls upon the Philippians to “(be) of the same mind, with the same

love, united in heart, thinking one thing.” We come here today probably each thinking different

things, but during this holy time together we pray that the Holy Spirit may unite us in heart and mind, with the love of God and love of

neighbor we have in common, as we lift our voices to sing and pray

as one.

Life Chain As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend and protect all live from the moment of concep-tion to natural death. One of the ways we do this is through our annual Life Chain on Respect Life Sunday. Last year, we had ten Life Chains throughout our Diocese on Respect Life Sun-day. This year’s Life Chain will be on Sunday, October 4th, 2:30 to 3:30 PM at Daffin Park along Victory Drive. Signs are provided by the Knights of Colum-bus, Council 631 and the Office of Marriage, Family and Respect Life for the Diocese of Sa-vannah. Last year over 100 people and seven members of the clergy participated. We hope for an even better turnout this year! All are Wel-come! For more information, contact Gretchen at [email protected]. Social distancing and masks are required.

Children’s Religious Education Attention Parents! Children’s Religious Edu-cation classes begin this Sunday, September 27th at 8:45 AM! If you missed registration, bring your child to the parish center this Sunday for registration and enrollment. We will be hand-ing out an information sheet regarding the precau-tions that will be used before and during class to comply with the CDC requirements due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will also provide infor-mation on homeschooling as a means of provid-ing your child’s religious education. The medical safety and religious foundation of our CRE stu-dents are very important to us. God bless us all.

Rosary Coast to Coast Join Catholics across the U.S. as we pray for uni-ty, peace, and the sanctity of life from conception through natural death on October 11, 2020 at 4:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Savannah. All are welcome and encouraged to join us!

40 Days for Life 40 Days for Life is an internationally coordinated 40-day campaign that aims to end abortion local-ly through prayer and fasting, community outreach, and a peaceful all-day vigil in front of abortion businesses. Wednesday, September 23 - Sunday, November 1, prayer vigils for peaceful and prayerful witness will take place daily in front of the Savannah Medical Clinic on 34th Street be-tween Drayton and Abercorn Streets. Anyone wishing to participate may want to speak to your lo-cal Respect Life Ministry Representative or committee to find out what is already planned for the 40 day event, or just go to www.40daiysforlife.com/savannah and sign up on the website calendar for your preferred time and day. You should find others who are scheduled to pray together already listed on the calendar for Savannah.
