Mission 2020: 14-22 March‘The God who speaks’

There will be a meeting of all volunteers, (that is all those who have formally registered bycompleting a volunteer form and anyone else who would like to come along and learn a bit morebefore committing themselves as a volunteer), on Sunday 9th February at 11am in the Hall. Therewill be a member of the Sion Community present to walkthrough the programme for our Missionweek and answer any questions.Please keep week 14"‘- 22"GI March free in your diaries, there will be plenty of opportunities to attenddifferent events that week, we shall have daily Mass, a Reconciliation service, Stations of the Cross anda social evening to name but a few. Keep your eye on the bulletin and noticeboard. All are welcome.

It is great that our Parish mission coincides with the pastoral Year of the Word which our Bishop’sencourage us to focus particularly on the Bible and ‘The God who speaks’. As this special ‘Year of the

- Word’ unfolds, we are invited to allow our God in the Scriptures to renew and inspire, challengeand enliven our families, our parish and every aspect of our lives as individual disciples of theLord. Once again, our faith calls to be nourished and fed as we sit at the Lord’s feet and encounter Hisvoice in the Sacred Scriptures.Our mission provides us with a great opportunity to fully maximise this pastoral year of renewalso that our parish can continue to thrive into the new decade. Please continue to pray for its successand reflect on how you may be able to share your skills for the benefit of the parish.

YOUNG PEOPLE’S STATIONS OF THE CROSS: In this Year of the Word: The God Who Speaks,meditating on the Stations of the Cross is a wonderful way of praying, which once committed to paint isa great way of sharing our faith. Please keep the paintings up to A4 size and leave them in the Sacn’styby the end of February with your name and age attached. We are all excited to see how you will beinspired. Thank you.

ENGLAND — MARY’S DOWRY: There will be a rededication of England as the Dowry of Mary, whichwill take place on Sunday 29th March this year. In advance of this date Monsignor John Armitage andthe team from the National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, are visiting each of the CatholicCathedrals in England with the statue of Our Lady of Walsingham. Dates for visits to St Peter’sCathedral, Lancaster are Thursday 6 February at 6pm to Saturday 8 February. Details of thetimetable of Holy Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Devotions, talks on Marian Devotion andan Exhibition can be found on the poster in the church porch.
