IMPORTANT EVENT INFORMATION

Parking: Spectators:

Spectator parking will be located at Andrews Field (3 County Street, Norwalk CT 06851). Shuttle

Buses will be provided to all spectators for movement between Andrews Field and Norwalk High

School. Alternatively, spectators may choose to walk between the two locations (5 minutes walking

time). There is no charge for parking.

Buses: Buses will drop all performers off at Norwalk High School and then be directed to an offsite lot at

Naramake Elementary School (directly behind Norwalk High School). At the end of the event,

Performing Units will walk to their buses at Naramake (2 minute walking time). To get to Naramake

Elementary School by vehicle Buses/Equipment Trucks will turn left at Norwalk High School exit on to

County Street, at first light take left onto Strawberry Hill Avenue, travel ½ mile and take left onto King

Street. Naramake Elementary school will be on the left.

Equipment Trucks: Equipment trucks will remain onsite at Norwalk High School. Please note, Should parking for trucks

become an issue due to the size of the event, Trucks will be asked to reload after their units perform

and to move offsite to allow other Units to unload and re-load equipment. NHS volunteer staff will

direct each equipment vehicle to the appropriate unloading/loading area.

Judge and VIP Parking: Judge and VIP parking will be at Norwalk High School. Please note, only Judges and VIPs approved

by the NHS Band Director, Chris Rivera, will be allowed into the NHS parking lot.

Restrooms: Spectators: Restrooms for spectators will be located at both Andrews Field (Parking lot) and at Norwalk High

School. Restrooms at the High School are located directly behind the concessions stand.

Ensemble Members: Ensemble Members will be given access to the Norwalk High School locker rooms for restrooms and

for any other uniform changing requirements. Ensembles will be directed to the locker rooms by

Norwalk High School event staff that will be assigned to each Unit at event check-in

Member Re-Entry: Performing Ensemble members and staff will be provided with wrist bands upon

check-in. These wristbands allow for re-entry once the Unit has finished their performance. Ensemble

members will re-enter through the main gate and have access to concessions and restrooms.

Members will be directed to the back field stands for seating to watch other Units

Participating directors please provide quantity estimates for themselves, their techs, and supporting

staff (parent volunteers helping move equipment) ahead of event date to [email protected]

Welcoming staff will have your wristbands ready on hand to distribute to directors upon arrival.

Tickets: Admission will be $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Children 4 and under will

be admitted free of charge. Tickets will be available at the admission just outside of the stadium. We

accept cash and credit cards.

Warm Up: There are three dedicated warm-up areas for ensembles and three dedicated warm-up

areas for pit. Our escorts will guide each unit to their designated warm-up areas and will ensure

timely movement from each area to their performance.

Field Surface: The Norwalk High School field is turf with High School hash marks. There are no

unusual obstacles for field entry.

Power on field: 110V Power will be provided at the front of the field. Any unit requiring back-field

power should let us know prior to the event.

Competition Suite: Adjudicator commentary for all USBands ensembles can be located in

Competition Suite shortly after the conclusion of each ensemble's performance. Directors may grant

access to the ensemble’s portal with staff/instructors, and may request help from USBands

representatives to resolve any issues accessing Competition Suite.

Retreat/Critique: We will be doing a Drum Major only retreat. All drum Majors and Guard Captains

will be asked to report to the Performance Entry Gate at the conclusion of the last Units performance.

Critique will take place in the NHS Orchestra Room. Band Directors and their staff will be escorted to

the critique area following the competition.

Awards: We will be awarding 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies in all performance classes for this

event.

Judge/Staff Hospitality Welcome to Norwalk High School. As your host we invite you to partake in Judge Hospitality set up in

our Orchestra Room and Staff Hospitality set up behind our Auditorium. Thank you for participating in

our event, we appreciate your efforts.

Souvenirs/Merchandise: No outside vendors will be selling souvenirs or merchandise. Norwalk High

will sell “Spirit wear”, which consists of Norwalk High School Marching Band logo clothing.

Concessions: Will be located at the concessions stand just inside of the main gate to the field. In

addition to concessions, we will also offer a baked goods tent and memorabilia tent. All will be located

next to one another.

Credentials/Access: Only Judges and USBands staff will be allowed into the Judge Hospitality area.

Band Directors and staff will have access to the full field and the Critique area, Ensemble members

will have access to the locker rooms, warm up areas and back field stands, All others will be

restricted to the front stands and granted entry only with paid admission.

A Gate Staff Member will be stationed by the Band Entrance/Exit Gate. An Escort will guide the Pit to

their pre entry location and the Gate Staff Member will guide the Band to their entry point while the

previous ensemble is performing.

The Band will enter field from rear of field on the 50 yard line and Pit from front, Press Box side. They

will be pre-staged at the so they can get on the field quickly. The Pit will enter on the running track

lanes 1 and exit in lane 2 in the same travel path as they entered and will pass the oncoming Pit

Ensemble to the left.

• Please have your Band exit the field to left facing the Press Box and travel down lanes 3 & 4 running track passing Press Box and Grandstands to allow all the spectators to share their appreciation and cheer for the students. Thank you very much.
