April 5th is the 1st Friday Pool Party, 4 to 7 p.m. Bring your own drinks and snacks to share. Remember NO GLASS. Previously I wrote that Kathy Duke came up with the idea. She is a won-derful member of our community, but she did not make the suggestion. Cred-it goes to another wonderful resident, Laraine Uzzollino. April 7th is Breakfast, 8 to 10:30 a.m. April 13th i(2nd Saturday) s the Din-ner Dance, 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. Enter-tainment by a DJ new to us, Frank Ma-zur, who comes highly recommended. Menu: Chinese. Note that the April calendar is skewed because Easter falls on the third weekend of the month so the usu-al social schedule had to be compacted into two weekends.

Betsy and I just completed the one day

AARP Safe Driving Course. It was easy though mostly offering us no new tech-niques for safe driving. On the other hand, going through the long list of their ideas and finding nothing new was reassuring--we are probably driving as safe as we can. There were many dis-cussions of Florida laws during which we did learn somethings new. For ex-ample, you may not use emergency 4-way flashers except when stopped; and when having to pass a stopped emer-gency vehicle but in a place where it is not possible to move one lane left, you are to slow down by 20 MPH. One pleasant surprise is that insurance com-panies are required in Florida to give a discount on your auto insurance after you complete the course! I called our insurance agent the next day and we were told that we would get $34 back of what we had already paid. Not much, but $34 more that we expected. I learned of the course at the Martin County Library.

The 2019 Cambridge Phone Directories were distributed to all occupied homes on March

13-15. If we missed you, please stop by the office for your copy. Thanks for those who walked the streets to deliver the Directories: Sharon Burk, Ralph Hoban, Judy Ricker, Sandy Souza, Bill Darby, Arlene McMahon, Anne Matheson, Irene Cou-ture, Deb Torge. Gilda Welbes, Richard Stew-art, John O'Connor, Rhonda Lloyd and Bernice Bartolini. 2019 Directories will be provided to new owners/residents throughout 2019 until we run out of copies.

If you have not stopped by the office to have your key fob updated you may not be able to use the clubhouse? Please stop by the office MON-FRI after 9a.m. The new entrance to the swimming pool is the gate at the swimming pool (west side). You will have to use your key fob to enter the pool area and when leaving, you will again need the key fob to exit the pool area. The west door near the exercise room is NOT TO BE USED TO ACCESS THE POOL. There is no reason for our resident or visitors using the swimming pool to enter or leave the Association building by the hall-way and main dining area. I am very disappointed that no one has been using the Bocce ball court that was recently installed. A petition was gathered by Association members to have a Bocce Ball court installed. The Board has complied and installed a court in the shuffleboard ar-ea using monies from the Association. Where are the members who wanted the court? I have been approached to eliminate the Bocce ball court and turn it back to a shuffle board court. There are more association members interested in playing shuffle-board. Members please come to the Association building and have a game of Bocce. The boc-ce balls are located in the same storage room as the shuffleboard equipment. The code to unlock the storage room is on the bulletin board just outside of the office.

CAMBRIDGE CRIME WATCH COORDINATOR MEETS WITH SHERIFF SNYDER

On March 6th, the Martin County Sheriff's picnic was held at Zeus Park in Hobe Sound. Our new Neighborhood Crime Watch coordi-nator, Faye Bales, attended and got to meet and talk with Sheriff Snyder. Free hamburgers and hot dogs were provided to all in attendance.

Just a reminder to those that are leaving Cambridge for the summer:

Your property must be maintained in your ab-sence. Please make sure your lawn sprinklers are working and replace the light bulbs in

your outside lights.

Solicitation to Purchase homes for Rent You may have received a brief letter in the mail recent-ly soliciting you to sell your house to an investor who wants to expand his rental property holdings. If you are interested in selling your home, we urge you to work with a reputable real estate agent, and be very careful about dealing with "rental property investors" as they are usually looking to purchase homes at low-est possible prices.

Many of you know, and perhaps many do not know about LAHIA. LAHIA is located at 1760 SE Salerno Road, Stuart, FL. The letters LAHIA stand for “Love And Hope In Ac-tion”. LAHIA feeds the hungry and helps the homeless in our community. On any given day the volunteers work to feed the vast amount of hungry and homeless persons in and around our area. They also work with the homeless to help find jobs and homes and to help them become an active part of society again. LAHIA is having a SPRING OPEN HOUSE on Sunday, April 7th from 12:00—3:00 p.m. Please bring a nonperish-able food item for our food pantry. Thank you and we hope to see you there.

Thanks for coming out to the country to visit U.S. Sugar and our community. We hope that you learned a little about how hard farmers work to produce food for families. Please keep in touch and follow our progress this season on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Also, if you have any questions or concerns that weren't ad-dressed on your tour, feel free to email those to us.

THANK YOU FROM

RECIPE FOR CORNY CORNBREAD (from Fashion Show) By Ruth Wintle 2 boxes of Jiffy Cornbread Mix 2 eggs (jumbo) or 3 eggs (small) 1 can of cream style corn 1/2 can of regular corn, drained 1/3 C mayo 1/3 C milk This will make 18 of the 2 inch muffins. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. It will also make a 9x13 inch pan of cornbread. Bake for at least 30 minutes at 400 and then check. It may need more time if not golden on the edges and risen. Best moist cornbread you ever have eaten.

The St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance was amazing. The Irish Stew was delicious and the band, Permanent Affair was awesome. Seems like a good time was had by all who attended. Just a reminder, anyone can attend our dinner dances. You do not have to live in Cambridge.

We are so proud of our son Kyle Loch-ner who received the Award of Merit for saving a fellow fire fighters life at a recent townhouse fire. The fire fighter fell partially through the flooring of the second floor, and with the quick ac-tion of my son saved him before falling through to the basement . Our son is a volunteer firefighter with Lower Provi-dence Township, Pennsylvania where we are originally from. Please take the time to thank all responders that save many people for they take the time to save us !

A special thank you to our kitchen staff . These ladies contributed many hours preparing the luncheon for the Fashion Show. Thank you to Charmaine Obed for

making the lovely aprons with the Fashion Show theme on them. Charmaine does this every year for the kitchen staff.

Thank you to Ruth Locke and our raffle ticket salespeople. Sales were amazing and raised almost $1100.00 to go to our chari-ties.

An old guy walks into a bar and the bartender asks for ID. "You've got to be kidding," he said. "I'm almost 60 years old." The bartender apologized, but said he had to see the license. The guy showed his ID, then paid and told the bar-tender to keep the change. "The tip's for carding me," he said. The bartender put the change in the tip cup. "Thanks," he said. "Works every time."
