TRAINING• For over 25 years CDDC’s Full Time dance

training course has helped dancers to realise their dreams

• In 2015 CDDC Full Time course students begun undertaking their high school and college studies via distance education (through Brisbane School of Distance Education) alongside their dance education at CDDC. Not only have they benefited from a more personalised education experience and an elite dance training program but this also meant that they could be home with their families more than ever before without compromising their dance studies. Here’s to progress - the marriage between dance and education delivered smarter!

Headed by CDDC founding director Jackie Hallahan, our Full & Part Time Course faculty are exceptionally qualified and experienced teachers, passionate about dance and dedicated to developing each student’s unique ability to the fullest.

Internationally renowned guest teachers and choreographers are invited to teach and choreograph on a regular basis.

FACULTY

In 2013 Jackie was awarded the Services to Dance Education award at the Australian Dance Awards for decades of leadership and excellence in dance education, and for her holistic and inclusive approach to producing dancers who are versatile, mature artists and independent thinkers.

Jackie was awarded the Stuart and Norma Lesley Churchill Fellowship in 2003. This gave her an extraordinary chance to travel and study in the centre of the dance world, USA, UK and Europe, her experiences were very inspiring and life changing.

Other highlights have been seeing her students successfully achieve their performance goals, choreographing, producing and directing major dance events in the ACT and being awarded the Canberra Critics Circle Award (2010), for services to dance in the 25th anniversary year of CDDC.

The DIRECTOR : JACKIE HALLAHANRecipient: 2013 Services to Dance Education (Australian Dance Awards), 2003 Stuart and Norma Lesley Churchill Fellowship, 2010 Canberra Critics Circle Award.

In her 30 plus years of dance teaching, Jackie Hallahan has nurtured and developed the careers of many young dancers, contributing a wealth of talent to both Australian and International dance industries. Her passion for dance along with her extensive knowledge and experience as a dance teacher, choreographer, director and producer defines Jackie as an important contributor to Australian dance.

COURSESOur Part Time training course is for young students (recommended from 10 years old) in preparation for entry into CDDC’s vocational Full Time training course. Progressive levels of dance training develop the student’s technique, building physical strength, nurturing their individual creativity and artistry with focus on ballet and contemporary dance. In addition these students will take theatrical and commercial dance classes to round out their dance education.

CDDC’s vocational Full Time training course is an absolute must for students dreaming of having a career in dance. Students undertake their high school and college studies via distance education (through Brisbane School of Distance Education) alongside their dance education at CDDC. Progressive levels of dance training focus on advancing their technique, building physical strength, and nurturing their individual creativity and artistry with focus on ballet and contemporary dance. In addition these students will take theatrical and commercial dance classes to provide them with a broader dance vocabulary and to enhance and enrich their professional career.

ENROLMENT

The audition for our Part & Full Time Program is held in Septemeber each year.

Suitable clothing must be worn to the audition. Leotard, tights and ballet shoes and pointe shoes (if you are on pointe).

The audition process takes approximately 2 hours with time allocated for classical ballet class and an interview with students.

You will be required to attend a contemporary class at a time to be advised.

Students auditioning for the Part/Full Time Program also need to audition for Performance Group and Youth Ballet at a later stage.

After the audition CDDC will notify applicants via email whether or not they have been successful.

Please contact the CDDC office regarding your interest in our Full or Part Time course, our staff will schedule a meeting for you with course Director Jackie Hallahan.

Successful auditionees will then complete enrolment forms to begin the Part or Full Time Course the following year.
