CDS3

The CDS3 is a dedicated surround speaker and is an in-wall version of the on-wall DS6 S3. Most multi-channel music is

recorded with home entertainment in mind and is monitored using two, three or four monopole surround speakers. This enables

good location of side and rear images. The CDS3 offers a choice of both monopole and dipole operation, so you may choose

whichever type of operation best suits the conditions of the listening room, the size of audience and the type of programme

being played. Indeed, you may use different modes for side and rear speakers, or change the characteristic for different types

of programme. The CDS3, with its swing-out clamps, is easy to install in either new construction or retrofit situations and gives

minimal intrusion into the living space.

CDS3

The loudspeaker system shall be of the mono-amped 2-way selectable monopole/dipole type comprising of a single flush

mountable rectangular enclosure with protruding rectangular front containing one 5in bass driver with Kevlar cone and one 1in

tube loaded aluminium dome tweeter for monopole usage and two 3in midrange/high frequency side firing drive units for dipole

mode.

Performance specifications of a typical production unit shall meet or exceed the following:

Frequency response shall be 85 – 22kHz in monopole mode, 85Hz – 10kHz in dipole mode. Nominal impedance shall be 8

Ohm. Total power handling shall be 100W continuous into 8 Ohm on unclipped programme. Sensitivity measured with 2.83V

at 1-metre distance on axis, mean averaged between 85 – 22kHz shall be 89dB. External dimensions shall be 285mm (11.2in)

height x 373mm (14.7) width x 160mm (6.3in) depth with a protrusion of 71mm (2.8in). Total weight shall be 3.9kg (8.2lb).

The loudspeaker system shall be the B&W CDS3. No other system shall be acceptable unless the above combined

performance are equalled or exceeded.
