Introductions: Erica Gargol, NEA Rep: Benefits/Financial Planning, is available for members. Mike Weaver, AEA Rep. State of the Arizona Budget: As state budget cuts increase, the funding continues to decrease. Site Fund money was cut at each campus. The district has shifted funding around so that they could keep Pay for Performance. The legislators continue to propose cuts and are trying to get votes to pass the budget, but are having difficulty getting them. Many items are on the chopping block… There are also many items listed within these proposals, such as changing the requirements for reduction in force, teacher contract deadlines, usage of substitutes, career ladder, etc. Thank Jay Tibshraeny and Carolyn Allen by email for voting against their party in order to support education. There is still time to exert pressure to send messages to the governor and legislators. Need to increase CEA membership in order to continue being a strong voice! We have 10 schools without representation at this time. If you would be willing to be a rep. for your site, please let us know! Membership Plan: AEA has helped us come up with a plan in order to train CEA site reps in a convenient way, in order to become better, effective representatives who are able to help other members. There will be Web Seminars in order to train site reps. On the 1 st and 3 rd of September, there will be a 45-minute, online seminars available. This session will teach you how to do JUST ONE THING, or be as involved as you like! You can complete the seminar at school or at home! Sept. 1 st : 4:15-5:00 OR Sept. 3 rd : 3:15-4:00 OR 5:00-5:45 Member to Member Project Grant applications are now available online. Visit our website to apply! Dawn Koberstein is looking for helpers to visit the potential AEA members at the Student Teacher Training at ASU on Saturday, August 15 th . Email or call her if you are interested. Wendy Zanol presented the budget report and also posted the Committee sign-up sheets. If you are available to offer your help on any committee, please let her know! In a few weeks, our website will be updated! Our updated website will offer some new features: *Advertise for your business (or your spouse’s) for free!
