A Warm Welcome to Argentina Wine Enthusiasts

Wines of Argentina is delighted to welcome you to the Celebrate

Argentina Tasting Events.

Founded in 1995 and based in Mendoza, our organization repre-

sents wineries that account for over 95% of all wine exports from Argentina.

Our goal is to advance the cause of Argentine wines throughout the world,

drawing attention to their great variety and quality.

Argentina's history of winemaking dates back to the 16th century,

providing us with a tradition of wine consumption lasting over 300 years. Ho-

wever, it is only in the past 20 years that exports have begun to develop, an

extraordinary fact given that we are the fifth largest wine-producing country

in the world. Today, with an industry producing truly world-class wines, we

are one of the fastest-growing countries of origin, showing significant and

continuous increases in exports year on year.

There are many factors that contribute to the success of Argentine

wines: the vast and varied range of terroirs; excellent climate (including many

days of sunshine with little rainfall); pure, clean water from the Andes mountain

range; advanced technology; and sophisticated vineyard and winery mana-

gement. The recent influx of foreign investment is a clear vote of confidence

from leading wine-producing countries such as the US, France, Chile, Italy,

Spain and Portugal. There has also been significant investment made by the

producers themselves: in the vineyards, in the wineries, and in the education

of their winemakers.

The Graffigna Winery is a combination of 135 years of toil, passion, culture and development. Sincethe arrival of an italian Family passionated by the good wine until today, it?s the history of an inovativewinery always looking for excellence. Graffigna is a wine conceived in the vineyard from its very start,with a special oenologic criterion. It is born surrounded by the particular conditions of the desert ofSan Juan, with a dry, warm and very sunny weather. Runoff streams originating in the Andesmountains flow through the area and provide ample water for irrigation. Graffigna Centenario: Thisline is produced with grapes from the Pedernal Valley in the San Juan province, 1,400 meters high,with a temperature range of more than 20º C. It transmits a great varietal expression with well-definedand concentrated colors and bouquets. Graffigna Grand Reserve: This line is produced with thebest grapes from specially selected vineyards from the Pedernal Valley. It is well stuctured andperfectly balanced, with a sensuous and vivacious palate. It spends at least 12 months in oak casksand at least 6 months in bottle. Fincas de la Juanita is a family-owned vineyard and winery located on a 100 years old property inTres Porteñas, Mendoza, Argentina. The families that have come together for this venture have nowbeen in the grape and wine producing business for more than 20 years, although the property hasvines dating back 50 years. We have an extensive area of vine plantations (more than 170 hectares)including a substantial amount of malbec, cabernet sauvignon, syrah and chardonnay grapes (whichare the basis of the Juana de Sol wines which we are tasting here) in addition to an importantamount of tempranillo, sangiovese, bonarda, viogner and torrontés grapes with which we havemade exceptional wines and expect to show shortly. We have the ability to produce 100.000 12bottle cases per year in our "bodega", which has a capacity of 1 million litres.
