St. Francis Solano Catholic School Mission Statement: St. Francis Solano Catholic School serves the families of St. Francis Solano Parish and the Sonoma Valley by cultivating an atmosphere of academic achievement in which students live and embrace Roman Catholic Values.

Philosophy: At St. Francis Solano Catholic School, students embark on a spiritual and educational journey. Parents, as primary educa-tors, partner with teachers in this ministry. Teachers facilitate the spiritual, academics, and social growth of all students, as they become self-evaluators, life-long learners, and faithful Catholics who serve as Jesus served.

Sessions are held from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Fr. Michael Kelly Parish Center, and are led by the RCIA Team. All parishioners are invited. These Books contain beautiful

accounts of fidelity to God including the stories of two heroines who saved the ancient Israelites. The Books will be presented in an interactive, non- lecture, participatory format. Come and learn about the origins of our faith!

NOTES FROM GOD’S VINEYARD By Fr. Alvin LOOK FOR THE LIGHT

Jesus understands our struggles, pain and troubles. He knows our darkness and how much it brings us to despair and hopelessness at times. But still He calls us to repent, which means to turn away,

to focus away from the darkness and to focus on the light, which is the kingdom of heaven in our midst. Look for the light! As we venture into this new year, let us draw on the courage of our faith to share the Gospel light of Christ with others. We can share the good news that the kingdom of heaven is indeed at hand! NOVENA FOR HUMAN LIFE 9 Days for Life 2020 will take place Tuesday, January 21 - Wednesday, January 29. This program is a multi-faceted novena for the respect and protection of human life. Each day, a different intention is accompanied by a short reflection, suggested actions, and related information. Sign up to receive the novena by email, text message, or an app at www.9daysforlife.com. .

MINISTRY OF THE DIOCESE Part 1

The Diaconate and Diaconate Formation (led by Deacon Gary Moore and Deacon Peter Mathews.)

Deacons are men ordained for the service of all. They teach, preach, baptize and witness marriages, but

unlike priests, they do not say Mass, hear confessions, or anoint the sick. Like priests, though, they need on-

going training and education, and require time to reflect on their own spirituality. Deacons are formed by a five-year curriculum in theology, ministry, liturgy, and much more. Their wives (most are married, but not all) take part in this training as well, to ensure the family’s ability to support the Deacon’s ministry. Thank you to

our own Deacon Dave and Carlin Gould! 2020 PARISH SUMMIT During the Season of Lent, we will have sessions on faith and ministry development that will include Safe Environment, Time Management, Spirituality, Family Life, Bereavement, and Service & Stewardship. Thank you to Josh Little, member of our Parish Finance Council, for his inspiration and effort to make this important parish activity possible.

Tax statements are available for envelope users for 2019 tax year by request. Please call the parish office and speak to or leave a message for Diane at 996-6759 ext. 100.

Catholic Men: The parish Men’s Bible Study Program will be star ng up again on Saturday, February 8th. We will be mee ng on 8 Saturday mornings (2x/month) at 7 AM in the Fr. Michael Kelly Parish Center. Our course of study will be the Ascension Press program en tled “Follow Me: Mee ng Jesus in the Gospel of John.” Each study will last about an hour. Los diáconos son hom‐bres ordenados para el ser icio de todos. Los diáco‐nos están for ados por un plan de est dios de cinco años en teología, ministerio, lit rgia y mucho más.
