St. Germain Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club Celebrating 50 years of Snowmobiling! Volume 2019-20 Number 2 www.boboen.com September 2019 President’s Message—Steve Soltwedel It’s that time of the year to think about getting ready for the snowmobile season. Membership renewals will be out soon and we need your support by renewing. Last year we celebrated 50 years and were the largest club in the state and with your help will remain so this year. So get your renewals in, trail passes ordered and get those sleds tuned up. Your Directors have had a busy summer. Last Febru- ary part of our Groomer Barn collapsed under the weight of all the heavy snows. The Board decided to rebuild the collapsed portion of the barn using insur- ance proceeds and that construction is happening in the month of August. I want to thank the Building Commit- tee members, Dave Walker, Jon Strom, Paul Bohnen and Jim Wendt for getting us the best solution and a special thanks to Jim Wendt for agreeing to act as Construction Manager. It will be nice to get all of our equipment back under roof and begin the process of trail brushing. In June, Tom Christensen tendered his resignation as Director. Over the past 22 years, Tom has held just about every office except Treasurer and has also done the submittal of expenses for trail funding reimburse- ment and printed newsletters. On behalf of the Board and all our members, I want to thank Tom for all his service to the Bo-Boen over these years. He will be missed. Through the efforts of Peggy and Bob Ausloos, the Town of St. Germain was designated a Snowmobile Friendly Community this spring. Signs will be erected soon and we thank Peggy and Bob for working with the Chamber and getting this done. In closing I want to thank the Directors for all their efforts over the summer, Ed Siergiej for a bang up job as Treasurer and Membership Chairman, Kay Schultz for Secretarial duties and everything else she and Gary do for the club, Ozzie Ausloos for all he does and Pam Gebhardt for a great job on our newsletters. These and other volunteers are what keep this club moving for- ward. Steve Thank You Snowmobile Roundup Volunteers A special thank you to the club members who gave of their time to volunteer on Memorial Day weekend. You made this year’s Hall of Fame Snowmobile Roundup food booth our most successful to date. We were very busy all day and we hope we remembered everyone. If we have forgotten to mention anyone, we apologize. Please return your form with any corrections or addi- tions at your earliest convenience. You can also renew online at our secure site found at http://www.boboen.com/ Membership.html Our final number of memberships last season totaled 1,165. Memberships again are either family or individual. Due to the AWSC membership cost increase, our dues have increased by $5. With that our family membership will be $35 (self, spouse, children under 19) and our single (unmarried) $30. Another change with the AWSC, all memberships will expire June 30 annually. Currently our club’s yearly membership pe- riod runs from October 1 through September 30. We will be discussing at the board level whether to adjust our member- ship period to coincide with the AWSC. Secretary’s Report & “The Dinner Bell” Welcome back! The 2019 – 2020 season is coming up fast. Seems like we were just talking about Memorial Day and now we’re talking about Labor Day. Summer was very busy and way too hot for us – or at least me. I get a lot of funny looks from people when I tell them that I can’t wait for the snow to come. Last year we ended up with 122” total for the season and hopefully we will top that this year. It will make for a great snowmobile season. As for the membership dinners, they are all set and ready to go. Please mark your calendars with the date and restaurants that have graciously agreed to host one of our dinners.

Tuesday, September 10, 2019 – Pub ‘N Prime Tuesday, October 8, 2019 – Spang’s

Tuesday, November 12, 2019 – Knocker’s Pizza Co. Inc. Tuesday, December 10, 2019 – Whitetail

Tuesday, January 14, 2020 – Sportsmen’s Chalet Tuesday, February 11, 2020 – Clearview Tuesday, March 10, 2020 – Golden Pines

Hope the rest of your summer and autumn are great. Don’t forget to renew your membership when you get it in the mail and purchase your trail pass from the AWSC.

Trail Boss—Jim Wendt This is an exciting time at the groomer barn these days! Our north end of the building is coming out of the ground!!!!! Walls are going up and trusses are being set. Everything seems to be going as planned so let’s hope everything continues without a hitch. Drive back to see the progress. Our new Tucker has arrived and has been fit-ted with our specific lights and electric. We have been out brushing with our re-furbished DB 150 and things seem to be going well on that front. I will be assembling a report on contractors who are working on our project at a later date. Pinno Buildings is doing the building and I am very impressed with their company. Many have donated to this project to which we are very blessed. Hope your summer has been a great one...our favorite time of the year is coming up soon. HAPPY TRAILS! JIM
