The product
• Product shall be developed to work properly at 220 V 50 Hz for single phase products or 380 V 50 Hz for three phase products
• This values could be included in a range, for example 100 – 240V; 50 – 60Hz is allowed
• Product shall fully comply with the applicable IEC or IRAM standard
• The newest the edition is, the better

The plug for a Class II product
Plugs shall comply whit IRAM Standard
For Class II products, the standard is IRAM 2063: 2009 Ed4.0 plus IRAM-NM 60884-1:2006 Ed1.0
The plug shall bear the Argentina certification mark
A copy of the certificate shall be added to the certification package

The plug for a class I product
Plugs shall comply whit IRAM Standard
For Class I product, the standard is IRAM 2073: 2009 Ed4.0 plus IRAM-NM 60884-1:2006 Ed1.0
The plug shall bear the Argentina certification mark

Connectors for power cord sets
Connectors shall be certified under IEC 60320-1 by an international easy to identify CB, and shall bear the certification mark
The best option is to include in Power cord sets Argentinean certified connectors

Connection supply cord without plug The supply cord without plug shall be certified under IEC 60227 or IEC 60245 or
other harmonized equivalent standard by an international easy to identify CB, and shall bear the certification mark
Earthling wire shall be green and yellow
Neutral wire shall be light blue
Household or domestic products shall bear a plug!!!

The earth and the neutral pole (N) shall be identified,

The rating plate
• The rating plate shall comply with all the requirements of the standard of the product
• It could include the safety mark (see slide 12). If not, it shall marked on the product
• It could include the country of origin – If not, the country of origin shall be marked on the product
• It could include the importer information, if not, the importer information shall be labeled on the product
• Rating label must be in Spanish – But words like Voltage, current, frequency, are still allowed. But we recommend to use Spanish words
• Units shall comply with the Metric system. (Inches, pounds, feet are not allowed, see slide 18)

Warning marks shall comply with specific and international standards
Wording, if any, shall be in Spanish
The adequate references and explanations shall be in the manual

• The user manual shall comply with all the requirements of the particular standard
• The user manual shall be in Spanish

The Importer Label
The product shall bear a label in which:
• Legal name
• Legal address Of the importer shall be stated
It could be included in the rating plate
For small product could be affixed or printed in the gift box or packaging

The language
• The official language in Argentina is Spanish
• The manual and user instructions and safety warnings shall be in Spanish
• Multi lingual manuals or markings are allowed
• Packaging shall include the commercial and technical information in Spanish
• Some words like Voltage, Current, Frequency, are still allowed, but is strongly recommended to use Spanish wording

• Argentina is a SI METRIC based country
• Units shall be always metrics
• Abbreviation shall comply with international rules
• Do not use Sec. Mts, etc…
• British or American units can be used in model designation

Marking shall comply with normal durability requirements of the standard

Compliance with local deviations
There are two options to show compliance with local deviations:
1.To include the local deviations on the sample from the beginning. (this is the best option)
2.To send objective evidences of how the local deviations shall be meet in production BEFORE to send the sample to the lab.

Warning! • If a shipment of products arrives to Argentina
without local deviation meet, the importer will be on trouble.
• The importer shall be informed in advanced to clear the product in a stand-by status, until the local deviations are meet by re-working them.
• This is a long and expensive task with customs and government
