TifGrand™ BermudagrassCynodon transvalensis x Cynodon dactylon

Description: TifGrand was selected for improved shade tolerance by producing a superior lawn surface in shade levels of up to 60%. TifGrand (tested as ST-5) is a fine textured, dark green, sterile hybrid bermudagrass that is uniquely the most shade tolerant bermudagrass commercially available. TifGrand spreads by above ground runners and below ground rhizomes to form a dense lush green turf. TifGrand appears finer textured and darker green than Tifway.

Uses:TifGrand performs well in residential and commercial landscapes as well as other areas like shaded golf tees, parks and sports fields.

Adaptation:TifGrand has been tested from Illinois to Kansas and is most successful in bermudagrass areas through the transition zone south and similar environments world wide.

Drought Tolerance:TifGrand survives drought conditions similar to other hybrid bermudagrasses like Tifway and TifSport.

Weed Tolerance:Well maintained TifGrand bermudagrass will prevent weed establishment but is tolerant to most herbicides approved for weed growth of bermudagrasses in general.

Insect Pest Tolerance:Susceptible to most bermudagrass attacking insect pests, TifGrand uniquely demonstrates “non-preference” by mole crickets.

Disease Resistance:Diseases are a minor problem with TifGrand but test results indicate that TifGrand is more resistant to Spring Dead Spot (SDS) than common bermudagrass selections like Celebration bermudagrass.

Water Quality Tolerance:On a suitably drained soil, TifGrand is tolerant of poor water quality from municipal and industrial sources.

Traffic/Wear Tolerance: TifGrand tolerates wear and traffic such as football, soccer, baseball and golf. Because of its rapid growing nature when managed properly—recovery is normally

faster than other warm season grasses with the same amount of wear.

Soil Fertility Ranges:TifGrand requires adequate nutrition to perform in full sun and shade similar to levels of grasses like Tifway and TifSort bermudagrass. Always fertilize based on soil test.

Mowing Height:Maintain cutting height of 1 to 2 inches. Mowing may be required on a 4 to 7 day interval.

Establishment:TifGrand is available for propagation as sod.

Quality:TifGrand is only available as Georgia Crop Improvement Association (GCIA) first quality CERTIFIED. Each delivery of TifGrand must be accompanied by a GCIA Certificate.

The unauthorized/unlicensed commercial propagation or transfer of this product to third parties for such propagation is prohibited by the patent owner.
