This week, we’re prayingfor the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Audubon, with Pastor Roy A. Noel.

In Session Eight, John Bevere gives insight into the powerful principle of

double honor, and also shows you God’s plan for tithes and offerings.

I Timothy 5:17-18 says, “Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double

honor, especially those who labor in the Word and in doctrine. For the scripture says you shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain and the laborer is worthy of his wages.”

Bevere comments: “Now this is the only place of all of Scripture you will find ‘double honor’ in regards to authority. God says to honor the king. He tells us

Today, Thomas Seelye will be sharing on “God First Cleaning

Team,” from Numbers chapters 1-4.

“God didn’t want his house to be kept in disarray,” says Thomas. “Where they were living wasn’t the cleanest environment. Each clan member was designated to take care of a part of tabernacle: altar, curtains, tent pegs…everything. God didn’t just give it to one group of the family, but spread responsibility out.Today you too will have an opportunity to join His team.”

Groups of two or more individuals and families are invited to sign up in the foyer for a minimum of two weeks service on the cleaning team. Duties will include vacuuming sweeping and scrubbing the floors once per week. You may choose what time on Fridays or Saturdays. (Please schedule your cleaning time with the church office to avoid conflicts.)

For more information, or if you have any questions, please contact the church custodian, Vonnie Seaberg at 847-0519.

to honor our social authorities. He tells us to honor our parents. But the only place in the whole Bible where God says to give double honor in regard to leaders is church leaders.”

“How is this done practically? Our behavior and speech toward church authorities should be with the utmost respect. Why? To honor is to value, to respect, to esteem, to treat as weighty and precious…Another way we should honor our leaders is to look for ways to serve them without being asked. In everything you do for your leader, you should do it with excellence.”

“Now look at this statement,” Bevere continues: “‘And the laborer is worthy of his wages.’ If you look at that carefully, Paul is talking about finances. Paul is talking about giving double honor in the area of finances because he’s talking about the laborer being worthy of his wage.…”

Concludes Bevere: “You can seek to honor, in every way you can, people who are over you in the Lord’s work.”
