The ExaminationsThe exams are challenging, both mentally and physically.They require an in-depth knowledge across a broad range ofareas and consist of 6 hours of questions on a Saturday.

The SyllabusThe examination syllabus is based on the Candidate Body ofKnowledge which is divided into 4 major areas:

What is the CFA® Program?Established in 1962, the CFA Charter is a globally recognised qualification, symbolising the higheststandards of professional and ethical standards. The CFA Program has 3 distinct levels, each culminatingin an examination. The exams must be taken in order and each passed before moving onto the next level.

How Tough is the Program?There is no doubt, the program is tough and there are noshortcuts to success. Requiring commitment and dedication,the 250 recommended study hours are a minimum. A 6 hourexam on a Saturday can be very stressful. These elements,combined with long working hours can make an un-digestible cocktail. Please think carefully before you enrol on the program.

CFA vs MBA or Masters in Finance?There are many benefits of post-graduate education and it iswell worth considering all available options.Whereas MBAsand Masters Degrees vary in content, the CFA Charter isglobally recognised as a relevant and practical qualification forthose looking to further their career in investment banking andfund management.The CFA charter has become mandatory formany investment analysts and portfolio managers. Rememberthat the cost of completing the CFA program is significantlyless than the cost of an MBA or Masters and you can also workthroughout the CFA program.

With a bare minimum of 250 study hoursrequired, the CFA® exam is not a program that issuited to cramming. Following our approachensures the exam packs no unforeseen punches– you will start your studies early and have yourknowledge continually consolidated and tested.You will be well prepared for whatever the examhas in store for you.

In five words, how would you describe 7city?

Supportive. Professional. Knowledgeable. Very motivated.

How would you sum up 7city's approachto teaching the CFA Program?

Comprehensive. The training includes days in the

classroom, the optional evening workshops, the US study

notes and revision cards, the mock exam and hurdle

tests, the Email-a-day and the website. I didn't have the

time to do it all but it is definitely there if you need it.

How did 7city help you throughout yourperiod of study?

They kept me focused, motivated and were there to

answer my questions when I needed them.

Were the course materials useful?

The US materials are a must as they focus on the

requisite Learning Outcome Statements (LOS). The slides

from the training sessions were also useful. The extensive

supply of practice questions were, personally the most

useful as they either reinforced your knowledge or

highlighted your weaknesses.

Were the available online tools helpfulin your studies?

I used the on-line question bank a lot. Sometimes this

was only for 10-15 minutes before work or at lunch but,

over the months, the time builds up. If you are very busy

you have to study when you can.

Did you feel the 7city coursestructure aided your studies?

The course structure helped as it provided a timetable

and regular targets. You are given a diary and a timetable

to follow - you therefore know what you need to achieve

and by when. It creates a discipline that you have to

adopt when studying a course as challenging as the

CFA Program.

Were any of the topics coveredentirely new to you?

Multiple regression within quants was new to me, as was

some of the derivative and debt material. However, most

of it was a natural but challenging progression from CFA

Level I and the IMC which I studied previously.

Could you relate your practicalexperience to the exam topics?

Definitely. I found my work experience very helpful when

studying portfolio management and asset valuation. I

think a few years practical work experience gives you a

real head start when tackling a course as challenging as

the CFA Program.

How was Level 11 different from Level 1?

Level II is more focused on analysis and interpretation

whereas Level I concentrates on the concepts of

investment management and asset valuation.

What stands out about 7city?

They are set up for exam success. The trainers were

exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful. My fellow

students were all motivated. The enthusiasm at 7city

is contagious.

What do you feel was the single mostimportant thing that 7city offeredduring the course?

The constant and genuine support.

Optional CourseLevel I Introduction Course (Level I)Ideal for you if your mathematical confidence is low. With afocus on basic accounting and financial maths, this coursewill refresh your knowledge in these areas. It also familiarisesyou with the CFA Institute approved calculator – teachingyou fast and effective calculator skills. Core CoursesDaytime, Phased Course These day-release courses are split into phases to spread thetuition evenly over the 6 month study period and ensurethat you don’t have to take too much time out of the officeat one go:

Level I: 5 Phases – 10 days in total

Level II: 4 Phases – 9 days in total

Level III: 4 Phases – 8 days in total

Evening ProgramIf you are unable to take time out of the office, our eveningprogram allows you the flexibility to fit your studies in at theend of the working day. Running from 6pm – 8.30pm, thesessions are spread evenly over the months leading up tothe exam.

Weekend ProgramIf you prefer to study during the day, but cannot take timeoff work, this weekend option is ideal for you. Classes runfrom 9am until 5pm on Saturdays across your study period.

5-Day Intensive ProgramThis course option is for candidates who prefer to study attheir own pace, but would like a final preparation course to

consolidate their learning before the exam day. Many of ourdistance learning candidates find it beneficial to attend anIntensive Program as a supplement to their studies.

Distance Learning Each distance learning candidate receives the fullcompliment of our study materials, support aids and onlinelearning. As a distance learning delegate you will also haveaccess to:

Richard Fernand, CFAFollowing his graduation, Richard successfullycompleted his Bar Finals at Inns Court School of Law. He qualified as a chartered accountant, before working for UBS Warburg as part of their GlobalIndustrial Corporate Finance Group.

Richard is 7city’s Head of CFA Training and responsible for thecontinual development of our CFA study solutions.

Azmi ÖzünlüAzmi joined 7city at the start of 2005 fromConsulco International, where he was aninvestment advisor and responsible fordeveloping the Turkish client base. Prior to this, he taught corporate finance andinvestments to undergraduates at the

University of Kentucky. At 7city, Azmi teaches towards the benchmark regulatory qualifications and the CFA Program. Azmi has passed the Level III CFA exam.

Bob Wieczorek, CFAPrior to joining 7city, Bob was the ManagingPartner of STORM Capital Management, amarket neutral equity derivative hedge fund.Before this, Bob was a Managing Director andHead of North American Corporate Financefor Credit Lyonnais. Bob has experience from

the distressed private desk at Credit Research and Trading aswell as the workout group at Credit Lyonnais. Bob is a CFACharterholder and teaches towards all three levels of the program.

Gilad ChristieGilad qualified as a Chartered Accountantin 1995 with a global professional

services firm . He has been teaching towardsprofessional exams for over eight years and isrecognised as one of the most experiencedtutors in financial training. Gilad teaches

towards the Chartered Financial Analyst Program as well as theindustry’s benchmark exams.

Graham McDonald, CFAGraham qualified as a Chartered Accountantin 1989 and then spent two years as FinancialController of a leading hotel and casinogroup. He has worked as a trainer for over 13years, delivering exam-based training tofinance professionals and accountants both

in the City and in the Far East, South Africa and Europe.

Jeremy SmithJeremy qualified as a chartered accountant withDeloitte and Touche in 1994 before starting histeaching career in the City. Acknowledged asone of the leading instructors in the capitalmarkets, Jeremy has been delivering training

courses for over eight years. At 7city, Jeremy teaches towardsthe full range of qualifications and courses.

Kevin Boyle, CFAKevin Boyle’s experience includes five years ininvestment consulting for institutional and HNWclients. His most recent role at Coutts & Coinvolved sales of liquidity management productsand services to Trusts, Charities, small corporatesand ultra High Net Worth individuals and

coverage of risk management and structured products (capitalprotection) for foreign exchange and interest rate positions.Kevin is a CFA Charterholder with 10 years active trainingexperience and works with 7city on an associate basis.

Louise ShepherdAfter qualifying as a Chartered Accountant,Louise moved into training, teaching tax andaccountancy related courses on a public and in-house basis. She then moved to the CorporateTax department of Arthur Andersen, developingand delivering in-house courses. Louise joined

IVAX Pharmaceuticals in 2002 as the UK Group Tax Manager,before moving to a financial training company where she wasHead of Faculty. At 7city, Louise teaches towards a variety ofexamination programs.

Matthew Wall, CFAPrior to 7city, Matthew worked in Corporateand Investment Banking at Barclays, SGSecurities and Nomura International. Hisexperience is predominantly in the capitalmarkets, structuring debt and equity issuanceand derivative strategies for European

corporates and governments, as well as corporate financeadvisory work. Matthew has been a designated UKLA Sponsor,and is a graduate of Oxford University and a CFA Charterholder.

Neil Govier, CFANeil is a well known face in the City and beganhis teaching career covering the areas offinancial management and managementaccounting before joining a financial trainingorganisation in 1994. As a CFA Charterholder,Neil teaches to all three levels of the CFA

qualification as well as across a wide range of derivatives courses.

Neil GrahamNeil joined BZW in 1985 providing support inthe FX, money market and futures division. By1991, he had progressed to the dealing room asa corporate treasury dealer. Neil then moved onto become a Local on the LIFFE trading floorwhere he spent two years trading own-account

positions in Short Sterling, Long Gilt and FTSE 100 futures. Neil'straining career began in 1997 and at 7city he designs anddelivers a range of exam and non-exam courses.

Paul Knight, CFAPaul studied Economics and Accountancybefore training to become a CharteredAccountant with Coopers & Lybrand. He spenttime in both consultancy and corporate financebefore moving into accountancy training in1995 and then into financial markets training

shortly afterwards. Over the past eight years, Paul has taughtboth exam and non-exam courses, including all three levels ofthe CFA Program. Paul was awarded his charter in 2000.

Paul RogersPaul Rogers began his career with Ernst &Whinney, qualifying in1989 as a CharteredAccountant. He then worked for Hermes ATSLtd, becoming Finance Manager and thenDeputy MD. Paul moved to one of the toptwo accountancy training companies in 1991

and was subsequently appointed as a Main Board Director,responsible for product development and national clientmanagement. Paul works with 7city on an associate basis.

Simon Holohan, CFASimon graduated with honours in Economicsbefore taking his PGCE and teachingEconomics, Accounts and Statistics across avariety of establishments, ranging fromcolleges to a Category C prison. Simon startedhis City teaching career in 1999 and has built

a great reputation in the financial markets. He held a seniorposition at another financial markets training company beforejoining 7city in 2004.

Tom GordonTom graduated in Biochemistry beforecompleting his PGCE at SouthamptonUniversity. He then moved into financial services training and has been working as atutor for 3 years. At 7city,Tom teaches towardsthe CFA® program along with our other

benchmark qualifications.

Tony Graham, CFATony qualified as an accountant in 1986,before spending a year in IT consultancy andtwo years in international reinsurance inBermuda. Tony has extensive trainingexperience having been director of a majoraccountancy training company for five years,

before moving into financial markets training, qualifying as acorporate treasurer and achieving his CFA Charter.
