Case Study: Partnering with Galabovo Municipality

In Bulgaria, we take a different approach to our social investments by partnering with the local municipality through a form social investment agreement. This approach allows the local municipality to propose project ideas that would address specific community needs to our Maritsa business but ContourGlobal makes all decisions on what projects are chosen and how to implement them. We manage vendor selection, procurement of materials, delivery, and payments, and a Social Responsibility Committee reviews and assesses project ideas and tracks project through its development lifecycle. This approach has been successful and we have completed several meaningful projects. Our plant employees get involved in project selection and project execution while meeting the specific needs of the community. To date, we have refurbished 2 kindergartens, procured and donated essential medical equipment to a hospital, and completed renovations on a couple of social infrastructure projects in the neighboring villages under the agreement.
