What is Maturity? Maturity does not mean AGE, only i.e. getting older.

◦ Maturity does not always equate to Age Sometimes age comes alone, not good Many young people are mature beyond their age Many older people are immature below their age

◦ What does Maturity consist of? One has Learned from their losses One has gained wisdom from decisions One possesses strong emotional stability One possesses strong mental stability

◦ Issues with Maturity People who have not overcome major losses are prone to think

they are invincible. Many start to believe they are better then they really are How we face problems, losses and failures really matters 4

Maturity is the Result of Finding the Benefit in the Loss

Learn from our mistakes and losses◦ Learning from our mistakes is great but it does little if we

don’t know how to turn the lesson into a benefit. Learn from mistakes but don’t dwell on them Learn from the lesson and forget the details Results mental improvement & emotional freedom

◦ Learning lessons for John Maxwell Over his head in writing a book When he had a heart attack When his mother died When he lost $1million on a bad business deal

◦ What John Learned Learned to meter his writing so it was not a roadblock Learned to live a healthier life for his wife and family Learned to love unconditionally because life can be fleeting Changed decision making processes so he could catch issues earlier in

business

Maturity is the Result of Learning to Feed the Right Emotions

As humans we have both positive and negative emotions◦ I know of no way to eliminate negative emotions

We can not take counsel from our fears We can act on the emotions that we want to win Maturity is doing the right thing, when your supposed to do it regardless of how

you feel.

◦ Maturity is the Result of Learning to Develop Good Habits Good habits require discipline and time to develop It requires focus and the ability to live in the moment Consistency in rain, shine, success, failure, setback or breakthrough is critical Have you not succeeded, continue; Have you succeeded, continue!

◦ Maturity is the Result of Learning to Sacrifice Today to Succeed Tomorrow. Many who can’t defer immediate gratification tend to fail The average entrepreneur fails about 4 times before succeeding Successful entrepreneurs will quote their sacrifices as the reason for their

success Willingness to sacrifice does not come easily, alternative is to become too

Maturity is the Result of Learning to Earn Respect for Yourself and Others

No one can give you self-esteem, but we can love unconditionally

◦ We can find our self-esteem through our actions and choices

◦ Esteem means to “appreciate the worth of”

◦ Self-esteem means having self-respect which comes from our character

◦ We feel good about ourselves when we make good choices

◦ We can be prepared to face our problems and mature

◦ Always be true to who we are to the core, learn from our mistakes and keep moving forward.

◦ If you have self-respect it is easier to respect others

◦ Respect is earned in all situations

Learning Too Often Decreases As Winning Increases

Success is a lousy teacher. It makes smart people think they can’t lose - Bill Gates

Learning Too Often Decreases as Winning Increases

The biggest detriment to tomorrow’s success is today’s Success. Here are some ways negative attitudes can develop: Been There, Done That…..

◦ Making our milestone a tombstone. The Banquet Tour……..

◦ Talking about your successes more than actually pursuing them.

The Momentum Myth….◦ Don’t rest after a success, capitalize on the

momentum The Entitlement Mind-Set…

◦ Stay hungry, keep learning to keep winning One Hit Wonders….

◦ Build off of yesterday, don’t live off of it Success Guarantees Success……..

◦ Past success is no guarantee of future success.

Learning is Possible Only When Our Thinking Changes

Don’t Let What You Know Make You Think That You Know IT ALL◦ To Know is to be ignorant, Not to know is the beginning of wisdom. J.

Krishnamurti

◦ Continually Ask Questions

Maintain a Positive Mental Attitude◦ Chesterton: “How we think when we lose determines how long it will be

until we win.”

◦ Focus on positive reading and listening

Real Learning is Defined as a Change in Behavior◦ Will Rogers: “There are three types of men: Ones who learn by

reading, a few that learn by observation and the rest of us have to pee on an electric fence and find out for ourselves.” Which are you?

◦ Biggest gap in life is between knowing and doing!

◦ Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood

Continual success is a Result of Continually Failing & Learning◦ Joseph Sugarman: “If you’re willing to consider failure as a blessing in

disguise and bounce back, you’ve got the potential of harnessing one of the most powerful success forces.”

THE NUMBER ONE RULE OF WINNING IS DON’T BEAT YOURSELF!
