JANUARY – FEBRUARY 2020 NEWSLETTER CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Hello to all and welcome to the January/February newsletter, the first one for 2020 and the first one of the 20's. I have heard several debates on the radio recently as to when a new decade starts so the jury is still out on that one. The final meeting for 2019 was very well attended and the crisp dry weather brought out a good selection of vehicles. Let's hope this weather continues into the Spring after one of the wettest Autumn's ever. Again this year we have a busy diary of events and I have already booked the ferry to attend the Guernsey Classic show on June 21 st , taking advantage of Condor's sale which ends at the end of January. We are also going to the Classic Restoration show at the NEC Birmingham on March 27 th . It's the first time I've attended this show. Hope to see you all out with your vehicles soon. Cheers for now Tim CLUB NEWS This years subs have been coming in fast but just a gentle reminder that to receive further newsletters you must have renewed your membership. OCTOBER CAR OF THE MONTH

Our Wolseley Hornet is a 1969model with only 39,000 miles onthe clock, as far as we know this

car is a local car from new.We have owned it since 2007

unrestored and with only a bit ofpaint work added to the roof, it is

a lovely little car to drive withhydrolastic suspension, the

engine is a 998 cc with drumbrakes all round.

The Wolseley was released in1961 as a more luxurious version of the Mini, both the Wolseley Hornet and the

Riley Elf had longer slightly finned rear wings and a larger boot. I was surprised that the Wolseley was picked as Vehicle of the Month in October because there were other

lovely classics present on the day! Thank you and kind regards.

NOVEMBER CAR OF THE MONTH

After selling our Triumph Spitfire we werelooking for a saloon to replace it but

couldn’t find anything locally. One Sunday evening after a bottle of wineI got onto my computer and found a likelycandidate in South Wales. Several hoursand many emails later I was booked on a

flight to Cardiff .The owner of South Wales Morris Minors

had died suddenly and left his widowcash poor but parts rich.

Her son decided to realise some assetsand rebuilt a car that had been started.

He picked me up at the station inSwansea and we took the car for a run. Three hours later I was on the M4 heading for Portsmouth.

A few little niggles were quickly sorted and she flew through the DVS test.J136941 started life in Wales as MAM553F in 1968 and was registered in Jersey in July 2017.

Since then we have done several tours in Brittany as well as local runs and are looking forward to an Easterrally near Lorient next year.
