CSL PLASMAQ&As with Olivia Chung, Assistant Center Manager

What is your business? What services do you offer? I am the assistant center manager at CSL Plasma Inc., one of the world’s largest collection agencies of human plasma. As a leader in our field, we are committed to implementing excellence and innovation in every aspect of our business. We are dedicated to providing the necessary tools to create life-saving cures so that people can lead normal, healthy and productive lives.

What makes your company unique or different from your competition? CSL Plasma is committed to utilizing the most innovative technology to ensure the process not only is expedited for our employees, but also is convenient and beneficial to our donors. We offer sincere and thorough one-on-one care for each donor and pride ourselves in our positive feedback, ability to constructively take criticism and make consistent steps for improvement.

How are you moving your company forward? What are you doing to improve your business? Our company utilizes our 5 Quality Standards to ensure our company is moving forward and constantly improving: Our ValuesInnovation - We seek better ways of doing thingsCustomer Focus - We are passionate about meeting the needs of our customers Integrity - We are ethical and honest at all timesCollaboration - We work together to achieve better resultsSuperior Performance - We strive to be the best at what we do

What makes you most proud of your company? My company inspires me by their diligence in helping others. Plasma is a life-giving substance that can do a wealth of good in the world from saving the lives of infants to helping patients with blood clotting disorders. I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of a community of dedicated workers who come to work every day and love what they do.

What marketing tactics have most helped your business succeed? We have implemented a variety of marketing techniques, primarily providing quality customer service that allows the benefits of our business to travel by word of mouth. In addition, cross-business promotion where our donors receive discounts on certain services in exchange for promotion and advertising. This allows a win-win situation by encouraging our donors to buy local with the money they earn from donation and to put that money back into our community.

What is the best part of your job? It always touches me when I hear an employee say how much they enjoy working at CSL Plasma. Many of our employees have come from other companies or centers and are eagerly willing to take a longer commute in order to work here rather than anywhere else. That dedication inspires me to be a better manager and to help our employees give our donors the utmost quality care our company can provide.

What is the best thing about running a business in or near Mechanicsburg? Mechanicsburg is a community of caring people who thrive on the local business market. Everywhere we go in the surrounding area whether it’s to pick up lunch or organize an office party welcomes us with open arms. We are extremely proud to be a member of the Mechanicsburg community.

Why did you become a member of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce? We wish to connect with other local businesses in the Mechanicsburg area. Our company is interested in establishing cross promotional relationships with business owners of the Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill, and Harrisburg area.
