Scott’s Lawncare is owned by Scott Halligan and is located at 106 North Walnut. Scott provides a variety of services to keep your yard looking picture perfect all season long. Scott also provides snow removal in the winter. Greene County EMS is owned and operated by Dennis and Marcia Morlan of Jefferson. They have provided emergency care and transport to the citizens of Greene County for the past 25 years. Dennis also functions as the Emergency Management Coordinator and Medical Examiner Investigator for Greene County. We also want to welcome to our Chamber family, Marie McRoberts, who has accepted the position of Executive Assistant. Originally from Boone, after living in various large cities around the country, she has settled here in Churdan. And, finally, we welcome Barb Walker, formerly of Churdan and currently of Jefferson, as an administrative assistant. We look forward to a long and productive association. the spring flowers, the Greene

County Chamber and

Development would like to

welcome two new members:

Gold Medal Trivia Contest New this year is the Gold Medal Trivia Contest

to be held Saturday from 5 to 8 PM inside the

Bell Tower Merchant’s Corner (formerly Mary

Ann’s on the corner of Lincolnway and

Chestnut). Teams of 4-6 players will compete

for prizes while enjoying whatever feast and

beverages they choose to bring. Individuals

who register without a team are also welcome

and will be organized into teams. Admission is

$5 per player and registration forms can be

obtained at the chamber office or on-line at

www.belltowerfestival.org .

Kid’s Fishing Derby

The free Kid‟s Fishing

Derby will be held at Spring Lake on Sunday,

June 12th between 1 PM

and 4 PM and is open to

those 4 to 16 years old.

Participants should bring their own fishing gear and lawn chairs to the north side of the skating

rink. Children who do not have a fishing pole can

reserve one at no charge. Free pop and night

crawlers will be provided and prizes will be

awarded. The Greene County Conservation Board

is sponsoring this event. Sign-up is at belltowerfestival.org or at the

Chamber and Development Office.

The Greene County Chamber & Development will host a “Pizza and Politics”

legislative forum on Saturday, May 15. State Senator Daryl Beall and State

Representative Dave Tjepkes will be at Pizza Ranch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

with an update on the happenings at the capitol as well as take questions and

comments from constituents. Information about the activities of the State Legislature

can be found online at www.legis.state.ia.us.

May 14th declared “State Museum Day” Governor Terry Branstad recently declared May 14th as “State Museum

Day” in the state of Iowa.

The Greene County Historical Museum at 219 East Lincolnway Street in

Jefferson, will open for the summer season on Saturday, May 14th. As

always, admission is free with goodwill donations happily accepted and

appreciated.

The Museum will be open from May 14th thru mid-September on Saturdays from 9:00 am to

noon and on Wednesdays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Special tours may be scheduled by

calling 515-386-8544.

The Greene County Historical Society will have their next monthly meeting on Friday, May

6th with a noon luncheon at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 805 Head Street, Churdan.

The day‟s topic will be “Birds” by Sally White. Tickets are $8.00 per person and the event is

open to the public. Reservations are required. The name and phone number of your local

contacts can be found below. Lunch will be served at noon.

The Greene County Historical Society meets on the first Friday of every month from April

through December.

Mud Volleyball

Mud Volleyball will return to Bell Tower festival for the third year. Come out to

the empty lot on the corner of North Wilson and Washington streets just 3

blocks north of the Bell Tower and have some „good dirty fun‟ on Saturday June

11th at noon. Sign up for this double elimination tournament at the Chamber

Office, Greene County Community Center, or on line at

www.belltowerfestival.org.

This event is for ages 18 years of age and older.
