  • Minutes of October Membership Meeting The meeting was called to order by President Paulline at 1900 hours. Officers present, Vice-president Bruce Cheek, Secretary, John Lavelle, Treasurer Harold Hansen. The members recited the pledge of allegiance and observed a moment of silence for POW/MIA and also for those still serving in harms way. A sheet was passed for members to sign and add their email address. The minutes of the September meeting were accepted as published in the newsletter. Harold Hansen informed the members concerning our current monetary situation. Members in distress that we are aware of at this time include Steve Bredar, Bob Konrardy, Edwin Hildebrand, Tom Lemons, Sandy DeGeeter, Doug Dee, and Denny Grey. Larry Witt, the membership chairman shared that we have 71 Life members, 117 individual members, and 22 AVVA member so far this year. Hopefully some of the individual members will take advantage of the low cost life membership before it is too late. Ed Gaudet spoke about the finance committee and their current plans to include Thanksgiving baskets and the funding of the next VA Hospital visit on December 7th. As usual we will meet at the McDonalds by the Machine Shed and leave from there at 8:00 a.m. to go to Iowa City. Larry Witt said that we had 15 tables for the Trivia Night and made approximately $2200for the evening. A good time was had by all in attendance. A number of Veterans Day events were discussed at the meeting. The honor guard joined with Chapter 299 to march in the Davenport Parade and also took part in the Bettendorf observance. This years Christmas Party will again be held at American Legion Post 26 and the cost per person will be $16 just as it was last year. The party is planned for December 10th. The meeting was adjourned. Submitted by John P. Lavelle, chapter secretary.
