2011 Juz 30 - Sūrat l-aʿlā (The Most High) Sister Eman al Obaid

Chapter (87) sūrat l-aʿlā (The Most High)

87:1 Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High, The name A’la The Most High is one of the Names of Allah. The name of the surah is one of the Name’s of Allah. Human beings like to be attached to something high – what make us to attach to Allah subhana wa ta’ala the Most High.

sabbiḥi Glorify Saba – negates Allah subhana wa ta’ala from all faults and imperfections – negates the negative attributes – Allah subhana wa ta’ala is never unjust, never sleep, never forgets, has no child or partner. Negates all imperfections in His Attributes. • Allah subhana wa ta’ala is so perfect “SubhanaAllah” – glorify by the name of your Lord. Everything is perfect with Allah subhana wa ta’ala. The imperfections are with His creation. When you SubhanaAllah say it with your heart and tongue – you need to utter it. SubhanaAllahi wa bihamdihi – these two words most heavy on the scale on the Day of Judgement – light on the tongue. When we say them a 100 times Allah subhana wa ta’ala forgives all our sins – expiates our sins. Say them thinking good of Allah subhana wa ta’ala – say them morning and evening is as if you are cleaning yourself of all your sins all the time. There is no hisab with Allah subhana wa ta’ala, the calculation is different – it is not the same as human beings being paid a wage or salary. The Sahaba were always mentioning His name, glorifying Him. • The root comes from the word sibaaha, which means to swim. • Why do we glorify Allah subhana wa ta’ala? – Allah subhana wa ta’ala took charge of everything, He is your Rabb and the Most High. The One whose name you say all the time, the One you are attached to because His Names are high in you heart – no one high in your heart except Allah subhana wa ta’ala. A man came to Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam saying “There is so much to do, praying, fasting etc – tell me something easy I can do” The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said “keep the tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah subhana wa ta’ala. One person instead of eating or chewing, they should use their tongue to remember Allah subhana wa ta’ala – chewing has no reward – the mouth is moving and the stomach gets no food. Allah subhana wa ta’ala appreciates the remembrance so much because you are remembering Him, talking about Him – it is better than she said, they said, you said. What makes a good conversation? The more you talk about Allah subhana wa ta’ala – that is a

conversation that has value. If you talk about so and so – what will happen? – their heart will be heavy and sad. Talk about Allah subhana wa ta’ala day and night – how much He will appreciate it – that’s why I say “SubhanaAllah, Allah subhana wa ta’ala the Most High. • Allah subhana wa ta’ala is the Most High in what? In His attributes, knowledge, actions and Himself. • Why is Allah subhana wa ta’ala The Most High? His position is so high. Where is Allah subhana wa ta’ala? Above the 7 heavens – His place and position is so high – no one is more high – in life think of The Most High, Allah subhana wa ta’ala will bring you down.

رA@ك Rabb is one of the names of Allah. Why does Allah specifically mention this name and not any other? Because at the heart of the relationship Allah has with us is this term: Rabb: He is Rabb and we are ‘abd. Of the relationships Allah depicts in the Qur’an, the one that is constantly retained between us and Allah is Rabb.

87:2 Who created and proportioned

alladhī The One Who Allah mentions His name then establishes His rights over us first (Rabbik) and then His created power is mentioned second. There is no other Rabb like Him, no other Master has the power to create. All other masters at the most have the power to own, control but they themselves are created. This Lord is unique because He created. • What did you Lord do? The first thing you should know - Your Lord is the One who created and perfected His creation.

khalaqa created, • Allah subhana wa ta’ala initiated the creation of whom? Everything – everything was created from null – people say they are creating but they cannot initiate anything. Human beings make things by taking from creation. Who created the ships? Human beings but Allah subhana wa ta’ala initiates the human being to build a ship. Prophet Nur alahi salaam was the first to create a ship with the properties to float. Most of humanity acknowledges a divine being that created but refuse to accept that He is their Lord. They will refuse to make that leap that they are enslaved to that higher power and that they owe that higher power anything/ has rights over them. Allah subhana wa ta’ala created and proportioned.

Juz 30 Surat l-a-la (The Most High)

3

fasawwā then proportioned, From taswiya: to even, balance out. Every creation has been intricately evened out. When we look at the creation of the human being Allah subhana wa ta’ala made everything in balance. See the creation and everything is in its perfect place – the heart, the kidney etc. Human beings are different shapes – even the imperfections are perfect. Allah subhana wa ta’ala took charge of the creation and perfected the creation. The creation of the human being Allah subhana wa ta’ala said ins’an is better than anything else – the best creation. Knowledge should be according to what Allah subhana wa ta’ala says – human beings are ahead of everything else – then come the animals – all creation is different according to what is good for them. Fish are different – their eyes are without eyelashes whereas human beings eyes are with eyelashes.

87:3 And who destined and [then] guided

qaddara measured Qaddarais to plan, calculate, to have an exact act plan of action for something and to have precise calculation at hand, ready. Allah subhana wa ta’ala decreed and ordained everything – for 50,000 years Allah subhana wa ta’ala decreed everything in the Heavens and the Earth before the actual creation of human beings. Out of His knowledge He decreed everything. The previous ayah was about creating and this ayah is about planning, executing, calculating every last, minor detail. Everything is according to your intention – you have a will – Allah subhana wa ta’ala is not forcing you. Discussion about “will” and “decree” – you have a will but out of Allah subhana wa ta’ala knowledge He knows what you will do. Nothing is coincidence – everything is decreed, estimated – nothing is in vain – we are supposed to do our best – our duty. The decree is one of Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s secrets – you will not know it now – leave it – why Allah subhana wa ta’ala created you? Believe and that’s it. Allah decreed everything – that’s what you need to believe. The main goal is Allah subhana wa ta’ala – decree is from Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s ability. The one who decree’s is not like anybody, somebody Who is wise. Everything is decreed out of Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s wisdom and knowledge – Allah subhana wa ta’ala is perfect – the best decree is a matter of Allah subhana wa ta’ala – Allah subhana wa ta’ala is different to the thinking of human beings.

fahadā then guided,

Your condition, your end, what you will eat, your provision life etc., Allah subhana wa ta’ala guided. Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s promises. When you read the Qur’an Allah subhana wa ta’ala raises you in rank When you listen to the Qur’an you will receive Allah subhana wa ta’ala special mercy. Allah subhana wa ta’ala guides the bees to make honey – pollinate the plants – Allah subhana wa ta’ala is guiding them. Human beings – when babies – who guides them to drink the milk – Allah subhana wa ta’ala. In the universe we see His actions.

We see how when it rains – the seed is germinated – the seed grows into a plant – the plant provides food for the cattle. In ayah 4 Allah subhana wa ta’ala mentions the creative process.

akhraja brings forth

Akhraja to extract or pull out We see how Allah subhana wa ta’ala is Al Mumin The Truthful with this ayah - our reaction should be shukr (thankfulness) by worshipping Allah subhana wa ta’ala.

After the harvest the rest of the crop will die – initially Allah subhana wa ta’ala brings it out (life) and then Allah subhana wa ta’ala will take it back (death).

aḥwā dark. Glorify Allah subhana wa ta’ala This is Allah subhana wa ta’ala blessing.

87:6 We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget, In ayat 6 Allah subhana wa ta’ala is addressing Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. There are 2 promises / glad tidings. This is the miracle of the Messenger ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam 1

st promise – Allah subhana wa ta’ala loves His Messenger.

Allah subhana wa ta’ala sent the Qur’an through the Angel Jibreel alaiyhis-salam – Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam listened, – he could not read or write but was given the responsibility to spread the message – some ayat were not repeated. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam was

reciting them with Angel Jibreel alaiyhis-salam in order to remember – he was afraid he would forget it.

This concern occurs in three places of the Qur’an and this is the third of them. And, [O Muhammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur’an before its revelation is completed to you, and say, “My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” [20:114] Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur’an. [75:16] Allah subhana wa ta’ala promised Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam He will gather all the Qur’an in your heart – Allah subhana wa ta’ala took charge of teaching Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa

sallam – Allah subhana wa ta’ala himself will be a teacher teaching Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu

‘alayhi wa sallam – what an honour, what a glad tiding. Allah subhana wa ta’ala promised you will read the Qur’an Allah subhana wa ta’ala promised you will not forgot the Qur’an because Allah subhana wa ta’ala will preserve it, Allah subhana wa ta’ala will preserve everything in the Qur’an. Allah subhana wa ta’ala made it easy to recite and learn the Qur’an – you don’t have to know the Arabic language.

tansā you will forget, Chapter (54) sūrat l-qamar (The Moon) 54:17 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?

Juz 30 Surat l-a-la (The Most High)

87:7 Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden. In Ayah 7 – Allah subhana wa ta’ala is saying don’t rely on what is in your heart – if Allah subhana wa ta’ala wills. Sometimes you know an ayah – and sometimes you forget an ayah – this all from Allah subhana wa ta’ala. • Your learning or forgetting is with Allah subhana wa ta’ala – His knowledge and His hikmah. Forgetting is a hikmah, forgetting is a blessing. Some ayat amend a prohibition in previous ayat – Allah subhana wa ta’ala made Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam forget. The forgetting was part of the plan. Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow) 2:106 We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent? We are remembering and forgetting because Allah subhana wa ta’ala is the All Knower – the All Knower of what is apparent – this is an attribute of Allah subhana wa ta’ala and He knows what is clear and what is hidden, no one else knows about it, only Allah subhana wa ta’ala knows. Allah sometimes made His Messenger ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam sometimes forget the Qur’an in salah and the sahaba would remind him, ‘Has this ayah been cancelled because you didn’t recite it?’ And the Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam would say, ‘No I forgot it.’ This illustrates that the Messenger ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam is in the end a human being. Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s knowledge. I cannot guarantee but Allah subhana wa ta’ala is the All Knowing – a blessing, according to Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s blessing. 2

nd promise

87:8 And We will ease you toward ease. The first promise is to do with the deen. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam went through difficult times – in life we want to feel ease but we will never go through what Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam went through. - You talk to people about your problems – they went through the same problem so you think they will understand but they will make you more sad. - You talk to someone else who knew someone else who went through the same problem and they got through it – they are more positive. - Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam advised if you see someone dying you need to make him think good. Chapter (4) sūrat l-nisāa (The Women) 4:28 And Allah wants to lighten for you [your difficulties]; and mankind was created weak.

May Allah subhana wa ta’ala make our obedience easy for us. May Allah subhana wa ta’ala take away the obstacles. May Allah subhana wa ta’ala make it easy our way of provision, our relationships with people, raising our children.

Juz 30 Surat l-a-la (The Most High)

7

This is a promise to Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam – not to forget the Qur’an and to make his life easy even though he is facing so many problems and the problems did not effect his heart. We would like it that when we know that we have a problem we know how to deal with the problem. We have so many problems – we cannot solve the problems – Allah subhana wa ta’ala can make it easy. The situation will not change but you know how to handle it or how to deal with it. This is the easy way. You will memorize the ayat if you depend on Allah subhana wa ta’ala – remember with meaning – act upon the ayat - reflect up the ayat. If you are stressed nobody can make it easy except Allah subhana wa ta’ala – when you reach a bottleneck – the release is soon – this is for Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam and everyone – your life will be easier with the help of Allah subhana wa ta’ala.

87:9 So remind, if the reminder should benefit; In Ayah 9 Allah subhana wa ta’ala is advising us.

• The believer shares beneficial knowledge Remind the people if you have any knowledge about anything, you need to share it. The believer who knows anything good, you need to share it. For the believer, the more they like something the more he will give it. Karim – one who likes and really likes sharing. For example you have 5 pieces of chocolate to share. Someone comes along who is very hungry and you give them all five pieces. This action is like this ayah. Knowledge is the most important thing to share – the attitude of the believer is you need to share it.

• What will you remind the people? Knowledge that is written – the Qur’an is full of treasures – the hadith – tell somebody – a reminder can be from the Qur’an and the Sunnah. If people are in a dars remind them with the ayat as everyone has come for the same reason. Other people may not know the Qur’an but you need to them remind. Remind them with the ayat regarding the universe. When a situation happens remind people how Allah subhana wa ta’ala perfected the universe – tell them about Allah subhana wa ta’ala through His signs. You need to remind people who are willing and able to understand. Or remind them with the universal signs and daily life. They are not just for Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam but for all of us.

• You need to remember to remind with the Qur’an. Not all the reminders will profit or benefit the people. Do not make someone angrier or insult them, be patient, you don’t want to turn people away. You need to understand their condition or situation. There is no point if they are angry and on top of that you reminding them is making them more angry. When advising people seek the help of Allah subhana wa ta’ala – we need Allah Al Qayyuum Who took charge of how we will give advice. Advice could make it worse so it is better not to advise.

Juz 30 Surat l-a-la (The Most High)

8

For example a person is not praying. Others always feel the need to tell them but they will utter words to make them kuffar. The person says ‘I will never pray’. You will have the sin. Do not push or they will insult your religion. It will give a bad impression of Islam. Who will take the sin? The one who gave the advice. How will the reminder benefit and profit the person? Seek the help from Allah subhana wa ta’ala. For example there is someone who is not praying but is fasting. Someone advises them that their fasting is not accepted because they are not praying. So she no longer fast. What little good she had you have destroyed. Who will take the sin? If you see the reminder but the evil will increase the good, decrease the reminder, you will be forgiven. Don’t say the reminder to someone who does not value it. The mumin is always wise.

87:10 He who fears [Allah] will be reminded.

• In ayah 10 who will benefit? The one who fears Allah subhana wa ta’ala. Someone is not believing or doing good deeds because of the actions of the heart. A little fear and they will take the reminder and act upon it – action. If they have a little fear out of knowledge, one piece of advice can turn their life upside down because they have fear of the punishment. Whoever takes the advice, whenever you advise or any advice I hear – this is Allah subhana wa ta’ala advising you – don’t take it personally. People are a means for advising. The one who has fear out knowledge they will change.

87:11 But the wretched one will avoid it - Ayah 11 describes those who avoid the reminder. The reminder is to keep us on the straight path. Fear will change a person. A person with no fear is avoiding the reminder – the wicked. Nothing more miserable than rejecting Allah subhana wa ta’ala advises – that person doesn’t fear Allah subhana wa ta’ala. From ayat 1 to 11 how many names of Allah? Magnify the Name of thy Lord the Most High who created and shaped, who determined and guided, who brought forth the pasturage then made it a blackening wrack. We shall make thee recite, to forget not save what God wills; surely He knows what is spoken aloud and what is hidden. We shall ease thee unto the Easing. Therefore remind, if the Reminder profits,

Juz 30 Surat l-a-la (The Most High)

9

and he who fears shall remember, but the most wretched shall flout it, L A’La – The Most High (79:24, 92:20) Rabb – The Lord Al Khallaq – The Creator of All Al Qadir / Al Muqtadir – The All Powerful Al Hadi – The Guide In the beginning of the surah you need to glorify Allah subhana wa ta’ala – in every ayat Allah subhana wa ta’ala is the Most High. Then we have glad tidings to Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam and 2 promises. – That he ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam will not forget the Qur’an. – Allah subhana wa ta’ala will make it easy for him ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Sometimes we feel shy to remind, but even a scholar needs a reminder, everyone needs a reminder. The reminder increases the faith. It will be different each time when you say the same reminder. Your advice will be different for different people.

87:11 But the wretched one will avoid it - Some people are avoiding the reminders. You are not really telling them but they are avoiding it. They don’t like reminders because they don’t like restrictions. There are 2 groups:

• When the one who fears Allah subhana wa ta’ala is reminded. They like the reminders and go forward with them - they do it. When they like to hear something they open their ears. They are not like those who when they don’t like what they hear they close their ears al ashqa. They are happy. The opposite of being happy is being miserable

• the one who doesn’t like reminders. The reminders, the ayat in the Qur’an are food for your soul – they make you to be in a happy state but they are the opposite, miserable, Allah subhana wa ta’ala calls them al ashqa. How much can they resist? Allah subhana wa ta’ala said let him reject, he will be miserable in this life and on the Day of Judgement. The real misery they will face Allah subhana wa ta’ala describes in ayah 12.

87:12 [He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire, Imagine how miserable is this life.

yaṣlā will burn He will enter the hellfire and he will burn in the hellfire, burnt in the great hellfire. In hellfire they will be thrown on their faces and burn forever – eternally. Why? Because Allah subhana wa ta’ala gave him the means to avoid the hellfire but he rejected it. He does not know what is good.

Juz 30 Surat l-a-la (The Most High)

10

Imagine in this worldly life a little burn and you are in so much pain. So what about the hellfire? The hellfire is 79 degrees more than the fire in this life. How will this fire be great? How will the miserable people live?

• In hellfire nothing will cause him to die. In this life we can only take so much pain. In the hellfire imagine it will be like he wishes to die but he cannot die. The people will cry they want to die, they will call the keeper of hellfire “call Allah we want to die”. He will respond “You will stay there forever” – they will live – death we only have in this life. The Day of Judgement is real, unlike in life the body will never perish – think of the eternal life – Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said they will not die nor can they live. They cannot die because there is no death and they cannot live an easy life. They are alive but it is not a life – all life is when you are happy. In life if you are miserable it is as if you are not living but it is temporary. Imagine in hellfire you do not die and neither do you live a good life – you live a miserable life. Don’t think the people going to hellfire don’t deserve it. Allah subhana wa ta’ala took them to hellfire after their reckoning – after they saw what they did, they know that they deserve to go there. Allah subhana wa ta’ala is so kind to us. Why? Because they know they deserve it. The Qur’an has punishments and warnings. Allah subhana wa ta’ala doesn’t want us to sit at home and cry.

• These ayat’s should make us better human beings We need to know there is really something like that. Our life is not a play or a joke. We only have one life to work at. Last week so many people passed away, not just from sickness or old age. Death has no distinction. Shaitan will say they died because of old age etc. I don’t know when I will die. But we shouldn’t feel scared. This should make us feel positively.

• What am I supposed to do? What obligations did I not do? What are you waiting for? Ask yourself, everyone knows what obligation they did not do. Think about the sins you did for which you have not repented. Be positive. Rely on Allah subhana wa ta’ala in order to be a better human being. Don’t wait when the day will come to depart this life. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said, “do each prayer as if it is your last prayer.” When reading this type of ayat if you want to do good you will do good, if you want to stop sinning you will do it. Don’t wait or give conditions. Try your best to do all the best. Ashqa doesn’t want to listen or improve themselves. You need to save yourself as no one else can save you. In this life people are struggling for a good life – the house, the husband, the car – do we ever think about the good life in the hereafter in paradise. The other group:

Juz 30 Surat l-a-la (The Most High)

11

87:14 He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself 87:15 And mentions the name of his Lord and prays. These 2 ayat’s are regarding people who will succeed. Indeed the one who wants to be successful is successful. The one who wants to be saved is the one who tazakka – purified. You need to purify yourself like zakat purifies your wealth.

• Here it says tazakka you need to purify – purify what? It does not say purify the inside and the outside. Purify the inside if you want to go to paradise where everything is pure, and there is a garden, your relationships and the people are pure. You need to be purified before you go to paradise.

• They need to purify their hearts You need to purify your heart from what? You need to purify your heart from the sicknesses of the heart. You need to purify your heart from the shirk and not be attached to other than Allah subhana wa ta’ala. You need to purify your heart from riya - showing off, arrogance – and all of the sicknesses of the heart. Purification of the heart is very important. You will have a good relationship with people and Allah subhana wa ta’ala when you have a good heart. Purify and your relationship with Allah subhana wa ta’ala will be perfect and your relationship with people will be good. Tazakka is to purify, purify what? Purify the heart! We have clinics or hospitals to clean the heart but not to purify the heart.

• The Qur’an will purify the heart. The more you read the Qur’an it will purify all the sicknesses. The one who purifies his heart and purifies the outside will be al mumin. For example if one tries to: Purify their tongue - they will not use bad language. Purify his thoughts – purify from bad thoughts. Purify the ears – not listen to something bad. Purify the limbs - from falling into sin. From where will I purify everything? From the Qur’an. The Qur’an is a healing for the heart. Reflect and ponder. These ayat’s will make you want to try to purify yourself. The one Allah subhana wa ta’ala will save is the one who always will be purifying himself. This is Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s promise. We are struggling and not reaching 100% purification. Allah subhana wa ta’ala sees you are trying and Allah subhana wa ta’ala will give you that success – HOPE from Allah subhana wa ta’ala. Purification of the heart is gradual – believe this is what Allah subhana wa ta’ala promised. Allah subhana wa ta’ala will give me success. This is Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s promise. 87:14 He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself In verse 14 Allah subhana wa ta’ala tells us the successful one is one who purifies himself – purifies his heart, purifies his tongue etc

Juz 30 Surat l-a-la (The Most High)

12

87:15 And mentions the name of his Lord and prays. Verse 15 describes the person who will purify himself. What will make a person purify themselves? Their thinking will show on their tongue, their actions will show on his limbs. • His purification will show on his tongue by remembering Allah subhana wa ta’ala. Trying to be good, especially purification of the heart comes the more Names and Attributes of Allah subhana wa ta’ala are on your tongue. Those not caring have peoples names on their tongue. What someone is, is according to the words they repeat Me, me, me – this is arrogant. Count your words – everything reflects what is in your heart. If you are purified you will always be mentioning Allah subhana wa ta’ala name in a gathering. Just like when you love someone you always talk of this person, you say this person did this or that – your beloved ones. Imagine, this is not right. People pass away, you like another person, people in your life are always changing so this is not the correct way. We need to remember more our Creator. This is the main thing to be really reformed, nurtured, elevated and to do good. Some people always talk of so and so – some people talk 50 / 50 about Allah subhana wa ta’ala – but those who talk mostly of Allah subhana wa ta’ala are really purified. This ayah is a balance – to be really reformed, purified and to really deserve to be in paradise, Allah subhana wa ta’ala name should always be on the tongue. While I am talking I mention Allah subhana wa ta’ala names – Allah subhana wa ta’ala is so kind, this is a blessing from Allah subhana wa ta’ala etc. You are always thankful for Allah subhana wa ta’ala’s mercy as I would not be here. You telling people about Allah subhana wa ta’ala is on your tongue. The sequence is what is on your tongue and then this is seen in your actions. When you really remember Allah subhana wa ta’ala you really want to pray, you really want to do good deeds, you really want to please Allah subhana wa ta’ala. When you love somebody you always mention them, you always want to please them and make them happy. But with human beings you will not have security. They maybe here for you or not, they may appreciate you or what you do for them or not. With Allah subhana wa ta’ala you are a winner all the time. When you mention Allah subhana wa ta’ala once, Allah subhana wa ta’ala mentions you in front of the angels. So mention Allah subhana wa ta’ala name, make salat – a worship. A person always trying to do good deeds mentions Allah subhana wa ta’ala, they have a certain degree of purification. For example someone who hardly prays the obligatory prayers they are not really purified. When you have a purified heart the tongue will flow with Allah subhana wa ta’ala. Look at the ayah and look at yourself – where are you? What makes people not want to purify themselves or not mention Allah subhana wa ta’ala names? Look at ayah 16:

87:16 But you prefer the worldly life, Preferring the life of the dunya, preferring the love of the people of the dunya, preferring the dunya over the akhirah – these people do not care to purify themselves.

Juz 30 Surat l-a-la (The Most High)

If I really remember Allah subhana wa ta’ala, if I really love Him I will do everything to please Allah subhana wa ta’ala – I will prefer the hereafter. Because you want to meet Allah subhana wa ta’ala – you want to live with Allah subhana wa ta’ala as a neighbour under His Thrown. The more you do good the more you will be closer to Allah subhana wa ta’ala. The one under the Throne of Allah subhana wa ta’ala is closest to Allah subhana wa ta’ala. Some see Allah subhana wa ta’ala according to how they are, once a month or once a year. Seeing Allah subhana wa ta’ala is the most beautiful delight – looking at the Creator. When they do not prefer the dunya, they will try and purify themselves. I want this akhirah, I want to go home, I want be next to Allah subhana wa ta’ala, I want to enjoy looking at Allah subhana wa ta’ala. Allah subhana wa ta’ala is on my tongue and in my actions. Human beings who are always caring about the house, their relationships, they prefer this life over the akhirah. They think ‘I have house here’. Do you have house in dunya? – NO. The angels are building a house the more you asking Istikhara, glorifying Allah subhana wa ta’ala. A tree struggling to grow needs effort but when you say SubhanaAllah, a tree is planted in paradise for the recitor, when you say AlhamduliLlah you will have another tree in paradise – these are the treasures in paradise. In the life of this world we have houses, bank accounts etc. Are we working for the akhirah? Do we prefer the akhirah over dunya? We prefer akhirah. The Dunya is now, the akhirah is later – the akhirah is better and it is forever. The akhirah is the perfect life, better in quality and forever – now I may have the best but it is not forever. This is written. Where? In the previous books, the divine books – the book of Ibrahim Alahi Salaam and Musa Alahi Salaam, the 1st testament. Purifying yourself is also in the previous books, not just Islam.
