Propelling Reaction 4 Our Car
HCl(aq)+NaHCO3(s) NaCl(aq)+H2O(l)+CO2(g)
Theoretical Predictions:
React 12ml Hydrochloric Acid with 12.2g Baking Soda.012LHCl(12.1molHCl/1L)(1mol NaHCO3/1mol HCl)(84g NaHCO3/1mol
NaHCO3)=12.2g
NaHCO3=0.1452 mol NaHCO3
How much pressure with this create at 20oC?P=((0.1452mol CO2)(0.08205cm3*atm/mol*k)(293K))/(0.7L)=
5 atm
Our WhipAnd
Its EvolutionTo Greatness
Major Changes:•Moved to 2 wheels in the front.•Redesigned to have bottle pushing directly on the axle.•And added 2 red stringers for stability.
Results:•Dramatic increase in distance.•Actually able to compete.•Lighter, more stable.

Performance Evaluation
Overall, when the day was done and the cookies and juice were drank our car was still the most consistent for give my group very inaccurate results. This was our strength as well as a weakness when it came to our car. We did make it to the Finals with a dazzling performance in the Semis putting up a distance of -15in, probably still the track record. We believe that our design could have been made more propel bottle friendly making it more likely to roll easily and consistently.
