The electrochemical behavior and surface-finish of Al and Al alloys (3003 and 6063) in conc. H 3 PO 4 is similar. Under all conditions a large limiting current plateau is measured, but the limiting current density only follows a Levich behavior at high temperatures. The surface varies from matte at low temp. to polished at high temp. with a transition near 65 C. The impedance, polarization, and Arrhenius behavior of the system is compared with that found for Fe and Cu dissolution in conc. H 3 PO 4 — (VIDAL, ROBERTO; WEST, ALAN C.; J. Electrochem.
