XANES, EXAFS, and Raman spectroscopy indicate the formation of TiO 5 edge-sharing polyhedra in the title compound at relatively low Ti concentrations (x ¿ 0.3). The results suggest a non-random pairing of TiO 5 polyhedra on symmetrically equivalent sites and the formation of edge-sharing relationship between adjacent TiO 5 polyhedra with a short Ti–Ti interatomic distance of 3.0 ˚ A. — (HESS, NANCY J.; SU, YALI; BALMER, M.
