Why is it important to have a variety of living things in the Bay?

• It is important to have a variety of living things in the bay. The oyster helps keep the bay clean by pushing waste materials into the water. The blue crab is important to the bay because people like to eat them. The stripped bass is important to the bay because they are used to fertilize fields. My research will show that oysters, blue crabs, and the stripped bass are important to the bay.

Oysters• The oyster helps keep the Bay clean by pushing waste materials

into the water. Oysters are important to the health of the Bay and oysters are one of the most recognizable species in the Chesapeake Bay. Waste materials are pushed out of their shell this is the way they keep the Bay water clean. Oysters can be found throughout the bay, living together and oysters make up one of the Bay’s most valuable commercial fisheries. Oysters can clean the Bay’s water in 3 days if) there are enough.) and their beds support a large community of other Bay creatures. Look out to find out about the blue crab on the next slide!

Blue Crabs• The Blue Crab is important to the people of the bay to eat.

A whole language has developed them and Blue Crabs are probably the most well known creatures of the Bay. Blue crabs are so important to the people of the bay to eat, and Blue crabs eat bivalves, crustaceans, shrimp, and fish. El, Sharks, cow nose rays, striped bass, and drum eat blue crabs. Blue crabs are very important to he economic stand point, and they are very important crayfish species. Look out to find out about the striped bass on the next slide!

The striped bass is Maryland’s state fish, and one of the most popular. Seventy- ninety percent of the Atlantic stripped bass popular, and the striped bass is very important to the Chesapeake Bay (that is why they protect them.) The stripped bass is the most important commercial and recreational fish, and they are used to fertilize fields, plentiful. The Atlantic stripped bass management program has enjoyed successes like not other!
