I want to see what the tournament is like as my brother has been to lots of chess tournaments when he was at Motupipi. I’ve been practicing against him. Hayden I love chess as a board game and I’m excited and a bit nervous to compete in a tournament. It will be my first ever tournament. I play sometimes against my Dad and sister. Arjuna K I’m very excited and nervous about playing in Nelson but I really want to play against the kids from other schools. My brother played in the tournament last year. Two are then moving from Helen’s class through to Jude’s, and two children from Jude’s class are moving through to Renford’s class. Parents of the children being moved have been informed. Technology On Tuesday we had a wireless upgrade to ensure optimal use of the ultra-fast broadband and the Network for Learning's Managed Network initiatives in our school. The School Network Upgrade Project (SNUP) has been subsidised by the Ministry of Education. This upgrade will ensure better connectivity now we have a lot more devices using wifi throughout the school. Rm 1 and 5 students have been provided with a Google Apps account with unlimited cloud-based storage to access word processing, presentations, spreadsheets and email through a browser (like Google Chrome or Firefox). This is so we get the best out of our technology and maximise the learning opportunities for the children. As with any time spent on the internet it is recommended that children are supervised and parents know where and who children are writing to. Netball News We now have so many keen girls, Motupipi now has two teams! We would like to welcome Rosie B and Caitlin W to our squad! We are also lucky to have Jasmine (from Central) playing for us as well. Last Saturday our two teams played each other. Iyla was player of the day for one team, for her outstanding game at Wing Attack. The other player of the day was Jasmine from Central who also had a great first game. This weekend we will be playing at Motupipi School at 9.45am and 11.15am. Soup, sausages and coffee will be available Come and watch us!

I liked getting the ball off the other team but it was hard because we played the other Motupipi team. We thought we would lose but we won. It was good playing against players we knew. Iyla We lost 6-0 against the other Motupipi team. I need to practice my shooting and I’m going to ask granddad to make a goal for me on the shed. Goal keep is my favourite position. Holley
