Child labor Child labor refers to the employment of
children in any work that
deprives their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend
regular school, and that is mentally, physically, socially
or morally dangerous and harmful.
This practice is considered exploitative by many international organizations

Dangers and Risks Long hours work, low or no wages, poor
food, isolation and hazards in the working environment can severely affect children’s physical and mental health.
Child laborers are also vulnerable to racial discrimination, mistreatment and also loose their life in some cases.
Some work, such as domestic labour, is commonly regarded as an acceptable employment option for children, even though it too poses considerable risks.

laborers. An estimated 120 million are engaged in hazardous work.
73 million of these children are below 10 years old. The highest number of child laborers is in sub-
Saharan Africa. Most children work on farms that produce
consumer products such as cocoa, coffee, cotton, rubber and other crops.

Regulation According to the Labour Law of
Bangladesh 2006, the minimum legal age for employment is 14.
However, as 93 per cent of child labourers work in the informal sector
These forms of labour are hard to regulate and monitor.
So the enforcement of labour laws is virtually impossible.
