MAGAZINE

WELCOMETO

Welcome to the Children’s Cinema Club Magazine.

The Children’s Cinema Club aims to bring the best of independent and international children’s films to UK family audiences.

Previously, the club released the animated feature, Zarafa, about a young boy and a giraffe who go on an epic journey travelling from the deserts of the Sudan to the streets of nineteenth-century Paris.

Our next film, Long Way North, tells the tale of a young Russian aristocratic girl, who flees from the marriage plans made by her parents and decides to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps as a famous Arctic explorer.

Following Long Way North, we have Phantom Boy, a beautifully crafted animated adventure about an 11-year-old boy from New York who can fly through walls and become invisible!

It’s free to join the Children’s Cinema Club, and once you have, you’ll receive our newsletter via email telling you about all of our special events and screenings, as well as free goodies.

We look forward to seeing you in the cinema.

TEN FUN FACTS ABOUT THE

ARCTIC 1) The Arctic , or Arctic Circle, is located in

the Northern-most part of the Earth.

2)The Arctic is where the North Pole is located.

3) The Arctic isn’t an area of land, it is a region that includes the Arctic Ocean and parts of Canada,

Russia, the USA, Greenland, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Iceland.

4) The coldest temperature recorded in the Arctic is -68°C (that’s colder than your freezer).

5) Lots of animals live in the Arctic region including polar bears, walruses, bears, seals and whales, but

not penguins; they live in the South Pole.

6) You can only find polar bears in the Arctic , and they are the biggest land predator on Earth. The largest polar bear on record was 4 metres long!

7) The Arctic is a really important place because it keeps our planet at the right temperature

due to the giant frozen reservoirs that reflect the sun’s light.

8) London is 2668 miles from The North Pole.

9) Because of the location of the North Pole, it spends six

months of the year in complete darkness and six-months in

sunlight.

10) While it is very cold in the Arctic , over 4million people

manage to live in the region and have adapted to

the extreme weather.
