Ukuleles! We have taken great advantage of Mr Bloomfield’s musical talents whilst he’s been here. The students have been singing and learning to play the ukuleles, which they have really enjoyed. Last week we borrowed a class set of ukuleles from another school and because they were such a hit and students showed great enthusiasm we have ordered a class set of ukuleles. Our budding musicians sound fantastic.

From the Principal’s Desk

The days are perfect… chilly mornings followed by beautiful days. There are quite a few students away this week with head colds. Thank you for keeping your child/ren at home to ensure that colds do not spread and the child/ren have a quicker recovery time. Please ensure your child/ren has a jumper in their bag if they aren’t wearing it to school. We look forward to the holidays when we can all relax, gain our resilience and come back to school fit and healthy for Term 3. As we know Term 3 is reknowned for the flu …. Not this year!!!!

All the students enjoyed another Monday afternoon at the sport fields. Next Monday will be our last day down there. Thank you to all teachers and Mrs Window for helping. Great excitement is growing for next Wednesday’s, 1 July, Olympics Day. The students and staff will walk to the Chillingham sports fields before 11am. They will participate in all sorts of exciting events along with relays and running. We will return to school for lunch, which will be hot dogs. There will be more events held here at school for the rest of the day. The canteen will operate on Wednesday and not on Friday for next week ONLY – it will be hot dogs only. Please find an order form on the next page. Recess will be supplied - it will be cake and a piece of fruit. If your child/ren do not eat this, please provide their recess. Please ensure your child/ren have applied sunscreen and have their water bottles. Unfortunately, we are not able to give you an official invitation☹ but if you happen to be passing and would like to drop in, that would be nice.

On Friday 3 July the students will end the term with a movie afternoon here at school. The SRC though it might be a fun way to end the term and if the students wear mufti, for a gold coin donation, a great way for them to raise a little money.

Next week is our last week of having the extra staff. Mr Bloomfield, Mrs Andrews and Mr Prestwich will return to normal duties next term. It has been fantastic to have the extra staff in the school and we’ve appreciated their expertise and professionalism in supporting our students and small school. Thank you to the NSW Department of Education for providing this extra support.

Student reports will go home on the last day of term. We will be holding parent teacher interviews at the beginning of Term 3. Staff return to school on Monday 20 July and students return to school Tuesday 21 July. Next term: We see the recommencement of Student Banking, Ethic classes, hopefully some interschool sports, P&C meeting, more than one helper in the canteen, sushi and lots more….we hope! Please note that this is at this point in time and as we know things change by the hour at the moment…. Or is that the new normal? All visitors will be required to sign an External Visitors form when they sign in at the Visitors Book.
