Western world is attractive for current Chinese youngsters substantially affected by western movies or massive media. Most well-protected Chinese teenagers decide to study abroad where they learn to live independently. Away from the things they are familiar with, they come through all the difficulties they have not before expected. Friends become valuable in the foreign country, they can share happiness or sorrow and help each other with a warm hand.

Zhe Yu Fan and Jiao Xu, both 23, came to Dublin together on 17 sep 2007.

They have been living in Dublin for almost 5 years, they like the taste of the traditional Irish breakfast, enjoy shopping during the big sale season, take bus as their major transportation means, get used to the fast food instead of Chinese cooking, relax with friends singing Karaoke in Chinese restaurants. They are not sufficiently integrated into the Irish society and prefer to stick with best friends, but this is the way of the life of certain Chinese students.

Chinglish Day was produced within Young Curators, Digital Design and the Living Archive project - a pioneering exploration of the growing interplay between curation and new technologies, encouraging emerging young artists to incorporate the digital into their creative practice in addition to accessing museum collections and gallery spaces.
