The concert will be to raise funds for St. James ’ & St. Matthews. Tickets will be on sale for the concert priced £10.00 each (though not quite yet!). This is advance warning so that you can keep the date free and save up for your tickets! The concert will begin in the Parish Church at 7.30p.m. that evening. Please encourage others to come - friends, family and neighbours. The music will be varied and should appeal to all tastes. Anyone who knows of the choir will know of their great reputation and skill. I, personally, am very much looking forward to the evening and hope to see you there. God bless, Fr. Martin Silence, reverence, respect... For your own sake and out of respect for fellow parishioners, please try at all times to preserve an atmosphere of stillness and prayerfulness in church. The House of God is an oasis for us, a place set apart from the world where in si- lence and reflection we can lis- ten for the voice of the Lord and seek His face. Unnecessary noise and talking make this difficult for everyone, es- pecially for those for whom this may be the only opportunity to have some quiet and prayerful time in the week. Please think of your neigh- bour and please respect the silence. The beauti- ful chatter of children, their singing, their nois- es are no disruption to us, but adult conver- sation in church - conversation that would fit in better in the social environment of the church hall where we can get to know each other better, should be left to those circumstanc- es. Please be courteous, welcoming, and considerate of your neighbour, but please also leave unnecessary conversation till lat- er. God wants you to speak to Him, to open your heart to Him, and to enjoy His presence in the precious moments we have in churchand He is waiting for us in the Blessed Sacrament, in our tabernacle, lets not ignore Him. Daily MassAre you coming? Weekday Mass is a very important part of the life of our parish community, and one, that I would encourage you to become more involved in if you have the opportunity. Many in our parish have retired from formal work—not to say that you arent still very busy - but this presents a wonderful opportunity to be able to come to receive Jesus during the week and not just on Sundays and holydays. Weekday Mass provides an opportunity for further nourishment for our souls, for drinking the waters of salvation which Jesus offers us so freely in Holy Mass. It is the best thing we can do any day of our lives, and the greatest source of strength to us, and the most perfect act of worship to Almighty God. In every Holy Mass we experience a true foretaste of Heaven - what a privilege to have this offered to us every day. There are so many graces we need for ourselves, our loved ones and those we know, and all of these graces are available at Holy Mass at we come to Jesus and open our hearts to Him. Make a commitment to do something positive to develop your relationship with the Lord in the best way possible by making a sacrifice of time and effort, possibly putting aside less important things, to come and sit at the feet of the Lord. God bless you! 1 St. James’, Kinross & St. Matthews, Auchtermuchty In the Catholic Diocese of Dunkeld Scottish Charity Number: SC001810 Parish Priest: Fr. Fill us with trust in your love and your goodness. We had a great Bake-Off and Barbecue last weekend in St. Jamesand managed to raise £400 on the day for Rachel House. Thanks to Sharon Thomas, especially, for her hard work, and, for all of the baking contributions which were most impressive. Sharon is hoping that through her work the amount can be doubled and a final cheque for £800 can be given to the charity.

Confessions after Mass

The Children’s Liturgy group... are looking for additional people to help deliver the Children’s Liturgy on a Sunday during the 9.30 am Mass. There are currently only four people who are on the rota for this. We take the children out most Sundays (three out of four) for their own little liturgy, where we have simplified readings and a discussion and perhaps a little activity for them to do. On average you only have to prepare work for one liturgy every couple of months, and there are always two people on the rota each week, with the first named person taking responsibility for leading the session. If you would be interested in helping, then please speak to Fr Martin or one of the liturgy leaders who would happily give you some more information and support on what we do and where we get our resources from. Anyone interested is also welcome to come and join one of our sessions. As with all such activities, volunteers will be subject to the statutory PVG approval and safeguarding requirements. Thanks, Aileen Sorbie

A reading from the prophet Isaiah 66:18-21

They will bring all your brothers from all the nations.

Psalm 116 R/.Mk.16:15

Response: Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News.

A reading from the letter to the Hebrews 12:5-7.11-13.

The Lord trains the one that He loves.

Alleluia, alleluia!

If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him,

and we shall come to him.

Alleluia!

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke 13:22-30

Men from east and west will come to take their places at the feast in the kingdom of God.

This Sunday’s readings from the Sacred Scriptures:

Prayer Intentions: Please remember in your prayers all who are sick or suffering at this time, as well as those who

care for them, may God grant them healing and strength, especially: Christine Beveridge, Carrie Krumwiede,

Frances Namyslo, Nancy Green, Bob Corrieri, Clare Hughes, Brenda Gilmartin, Cliff Edwards, Ann Rafferty,

Margaret Kirby, Mary Kearney, Lesley Law, Kath Reilly, Mark Laughlan, John & Agnes Kenny, Joseph Kierney,

Joanne McAtear, Eva Clarke, Joan Paterson, Anne McGinley, and all who are sick and have asked for our prayers.

Please pray, too, for those who have died recently and those whose anniversaries occur around this time, especially:

Maureen Scullion, Michael Reay, John Namyslo, Sadie Whitehead, Tony Bartlett, Ashley McKnight, Paul Kirtlan, Margaret McShane, Fr. Joe Dolan, Sheila Connor, Jenny Tonner, Kate Shackleton, Norma Cairns, Alex McFarlane,

Martin McGregor, Paul Darmanin, Pat Monaghan, and Michelle Wallace. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Requiescant in pace.

Home-baking… For some years now, a group of parishioners have provided home-baking after Sunday Mass. We are looking for new volunteers to help support the three current contributors - so that we can continue to provide a variety of tasty treats after Sunday morning Mass in St. James’ hall. If you’d be able to join a rota - even if it is only once or twice in six months—please speak to Trudy Duffy or to Fr. Martin. Thank you for your support!

Parish Catechism Classes

Catechism classes (which take place after school) resume on Monday 2nd September for all primary school children. This coming year our P7 children will prepare for the

Sacrament of Confirmation. We will celebrate a special Mass on Monday 23rd September at 7pm and a get-together in the hall afterwards for our Confirmation

candidates and all our children and their parents. Please see Mary Burrows or one of the catechists for further

information.

Please pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life, especially in our own diocese.
