Christ the King Parish

8005 Dorset Drive, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73120 405-842-1481

Dear Parishioners:

This Guide Book and Directory is meant to help you stay better connected with your parish family and to serve as a resource for you to discover the many opportunities at Christ the King where you can grow closer to God, deepen your faith, serve your community, and enrich your knowledge and understanding of your role in God’s creation. I hope it also will spark an interest in looking for ways to bring your particular gifts into ministry at Christ the King.

We are a vibrant parish, and that is because of you, our parishioners.Getting involved is the best way to get to know people and make connections in the parish beyond Mass, and you will find many opportunities to serve at Christ the King and in the broader community in the pages of this Guide Book and Directory. The Sunday bulletin, the parish Facebook page, and our website (https://ckokc.org) are other great resources.

Parish life outside Mass is important, but the center of our mission, the source and summit of our faith, is the Eucharist. At a time when fewer people seem to recognize the true presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, it is increasingly important that we live our Catholic faith by keeping the Sabbath holy, attending Mass, receiving the Eucharist, and doing so worthily by going to confession regularly. Reverence for the Eucharist is a sure way to grow closer to God, and many people who come to Adoration on Mondays speak of the surprising fruits they experience through our Eucharistic Lord.

More than 1800 individuals and families call Christ the King home. We have been greatly blessed over the years, and one of our greatest blessings is that we currently have four young men from our parish attending seminary. Only God knows if they will ultimately be ordained as priests, but they and their families certainly need our prayers during this time of discernment and education. Vocations most often begin in the family, so we thank the Bodman, Brown, Duff and Lepak families for the gift of their sons. Let us remember to always pray for vocations for our own Archdiocese and for the whole world.

Thank you to the many sponsors and advertisers who have made this Guide Book and Directory possible. I hope you will support them, as they have generously provided us this resource. And I thank you for your part in making our parish such a vibrant place to worship and learn about our faith, where we serve those in need and each other. May God continue to bless us all as we strive to build His kingdom.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Fr. Rick Stansberry

Bishop Buswell SocietyThe Bishop Buswell Society is named for our parish founder, whose vision of the future inspired the first generation of parishioners to build a church and school through ceaseless giving of themselves and their resources. The Bishop Buswell Society was established in our continuing effort to publicly recognize and honor those who have remembered Christ the King Church and/or School through estate-related gifts. These special people are dedicated to a better future for their church and school for years to come. Membership in the Bishop Buswell Society is offered to those who include Christ the King in their estate plan as a beneficiary or contingent beneficiary in their will, a codicil to their will, or a life insurance policy. Membership is also offered to those who enter into an agreement with the church or school to purchase a Gift Annuity, an Annuity Trust, Unitrust or other form of life income contract, or who make the church or school the owner of a life insurance policy. In providing bequests or establishing trusts, you are always encouraged to use an attorney or other financial advisor. The CK business office welcomes the opportunity to work with you and your advisor in planning your gift. Membership may be anonymous.

However, Christ the King sincerely desires that members be recognized on our honor roll plaque and presented with an engraved Bishop Buswell Society Revere bowl. May Bishop Buswell’s forward-looking spirit remain with us and inspire us to assure a very promising future for our parish family and the community we serve. Patrick Cullen, 242-4512
