From the Pastor’s Desk

This week we are celebrating the Solemnity of All Saints. This is one of the Church’s Holy Days of Obligation! Catholics everywhere go to Mass on November 1 to give thanks for the presence of the saints in our lives. Our friendship with the saints is one of God’s greatest gifts to us. The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful array of brothers and sisters who support us from their place in heaven. On the Feast of All Saints, we acknowledge our extended celestial family and ask them to pray for us. November 1 is also a special day for our school, All Saints Academy. The bishop comes to celebrate Mass for our students and always takes time to answer some of their questions. Inevitably, one of the kids asks about his hat (miter) and his stick (crozier). The bishop explains that, yes, he has a car and, no, he does not have a wife. I laugh every time. The bishop’s interrogation by our students is one my favorite activities each school year. The next day, Friday, November 2, the Feast of All Souls. The only Mass we will have that day will be our normal 7:00 a.m. daily Mass. But before Mass begins that day, we will read the names of our parishioners who have passed away within the past year. We will also have candles burning for our deceased family members and friends throughout the day. As is the case every Friday, there will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the back altar. I encourage you to visit Church that day to spend time praying for our beloved dead.

Parish News

As Catholics, we are committed to praying for those who have died. Come to Mass on All Souls Day, this Friday, November 2, at

7:00 a.m. and pray for all the faithful departed. Before Mass beings, we will read the names of all those who have passed away over the past twelve months. Everyone is also encouraged to visit the Church on Friday to pray with the Blessed Sacrament for deceased friends and relatives.

This Friday, November 2, we will have a special opportunity for prayer. From 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., we will offer prayers for the

safety and wellbeing of immigrants and refugees. We will also pray for the reconciliation among family members and greater family unity. All are invited. Then at 10:00 p.m., the women of the parish will have the opportunity to spend the night in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 6:00 a.m. the following morning. (This event is in Spanish). Would you like to plan your family according to God’s plan and according to the Church’s teachings? This fall we will have an

opportunity to learn the Natural Family Planning (NFP). The course includes six consecutive classes to be held on Fridays, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The first class will be on Friday, November 2. It’s mandatory to attend as a couple. Please register before the starting date by calling at 614-237-0401, or in the parish office. We hope your participation in this safe, effective, and moral opportunity to learn the NFP. (This event is in Spanish).

Desde el Escritorio del Párroco

Esta semana celebramos la Solemnidad de Todos los Santos. ¡Este es uno de los Días de Precepto de la Iglesia! Los católicos en todo el mundo van a misa el 1 de noviembre a dar gracias por la presencia de los santos en nuestra vida. Nuestra amistad con los santos es uno de los mayores regalos de Dios para nosotros. El Señor nos ha bendecido con una hermosa variedad de hermanos y hermanas que nos apoyan desde el cielo. En la Fiesta de Todos los Santos, reconocemos a nuestra extensa familia celestial y les pedimos que oren por nosotros. El 1 de noviembre es también un día especial para nuestra escuela, All Saints Academy. El obispo viene a celebrar la misa con nuestros estudiantes y siempre toma tiempo para responder algunas preguntas. Inevitablemente, uno de los niños pregunta por su sombrero (mitra) y su bastón (báculo). El obispo explica que, sí, tiene un automóvil y, no, no tiene esposa. ¡Es gracioso! El interrogatorio del obispo es una de mis actividades favoritas cada año escolar. Al día siguiente, viernes 2 de noviembre es la fiesta de los fieles difuntos. La única misa que tendremos ese día será nuestra misa diaria normal de 7:00 a.m. Pero antes de que comience la misa ese día, leeremos los nombres de nuestros feligreses que han fallecido este año. También encendernos velas para nuestros familiares y amigos fallecidos durante todo el día. Como todos los viernes, habrá adoración del Santísimo Sacramento en el altar menor. Les animo a visitar la Iglesia ese día para pasar un tiempo orando por nuestros amados difuntos. Que el Señor los bendiga durante toda la semana. También animo a todos a visitar el templo el viernes para orar con el Santísimo Sacramento por los familiares y amigos fallecidos. Santa por la seguridad y bienestar de los inmigrantes y refugiados. También rezaremos por la reconciliación entre los miembros de las familias. Todos están invitados. Luego, a las 10:00 p.m. las mujeres de la parroquia tendrán la oportunidad de pasar la noche en Adoración con Santísimo Sacramento hasta las 6:00 a.m. del día siguiente. News from the Knights of Columbus: We will have our blood drive

next Sunday, November 4, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. (This event is bilingual.) "In God's Service" will be held on Thursday, November 8, at 10:30 a.m. in the church. This is a vocations program for high school students

of the Diocese of Columbus. The event will include the stories of individuals who have answered the call, as well as Mass and lunch. Please pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. (This event is in English.) Aunt Hattie’s Luncheon: This wonderful event is to be held on

Sunday, November 11, at 11:30 a.m. in the school gym. Tickets are $16 for adults and $9 for children over 6. They will be on sale after Mass this weekend and next. Families are welcome. No luncheon tickets will be sold at the door. Raffle chances are also on sale. Please consider filling a basket for the basket raffle, or donating baked goods for a sale at the luncheon. This is the Women’s Club’s only fundraiser to support parish charities and services, including Christmas gifts and dinner for Giving Tree recipients. We welcome your support! The Sisters’ Corner

All Saints Academy Catholic School

Our Feast Day is this week – November 1 is the Solemnity of All Saints. The staff, faculty, and students are grateful for the prayers and example of those heroic men and women in heaven. We are also grateful for the bishop who is taking time to celebrate Mass with us.
