RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

PASSION PLAY SAVE THE DATE– Monday, March 21st at 7:00 p.m. Our 8th Graders will be performing “The Passion Play” in Church. We encourage all our parishioners to attend this very moving performance. Refreshments will be served in the parish hall following the production. REMINDER-INCLEMENT WEATHER– Our religious education classes follow the public school calendar. If school is cancelled due to inclement weather, our religious education classes are cancelled for that day; however, regular half days do not affect our schedule. We still have classes for that day. Check our website at www.christthekingtrumbull.org for updates on weather and closings.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS Every Friday starting on February 12 at 7:30 p.m.

CONVIVIO 2016– “Have you ever felt the gaze of everlasting love upon you? Do you realize how precious you are to God, who has given you everything out of love?” Have you ever experienced this joy and want to extend it to others? Jesus is waiting for you! Please join fellow students at Convivio, a high school congress where students come together to reflect upon contemporary society. Throughout the weekend there are group discussions, talks, videos, games, and more. There is also the opportunity to partake in Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This event is open to all high school students from grades 9-12 and will be held at Sacred Heart University on March 4, 5 and 6. Please visit www.convivio-us.org. It doesn’t matter where you are in your faith; you are part of something greater. See you there! FAITH AND FAMILY: FASTING-Fasting isn’t a way of punishing ourselves – it’s making a small sacrifice to join with the sacrifice Christ made on the cross. It’s like an exercise class for your self-discipline muscle. It’s a way of practicing “not getting everything you want” or “not having things your way.” This practice in small things can give us the strength and endurance to be Christ-like when harder times come. Share as a family your experiences with fasting, what was meaningful and what wasn’t. Talk about Jesus fasting forty days in the desert (Mt 4:1-11), and how we desire to be more like him. Discuss how fasting whets the appetite for a feast! Let children decide for themselves what they want to give up, so it’s more meaningful for them; but, you could offer suggestions, maybe narrow it down to two choices, and let them pick one. Some ideas: fast from food (sweets, chips, bread); fast from drinks (except water and milk); fast from the screen (TV, video games, computer); fast from criticism and gossip; fast from overwork or over-commitment.

CENTERS OF MERCY-In order to foster a more fruitful invest-ment in the Jubilee Year of Mercy, The Centers of Mercy will be open, and a priest will be available to offer The sacrament of Reconciliation, each Tuesday or Thursday evening, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. beginning in Lent, and extending throughout the Year of Mercy. On Tuesday evening, St Catherine of Sienna, Trumbull will offer Confession, and on Thursday evening, St. Theresa, Trumbull will offer the Sacrament. Please visit our website at www.christthekingtrumbull.org for a full listing of all the Centers of Mercy in our Diocese.
