With Free will comes responsibility
"...but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from
the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and
you must not touch it, or you will die.'" - Genesis
3:3
One of the many great mysteries in the Bible is why God put that ONE tree in the Garden of Eden from which man was not to eat. Have you ever wondered why? God provided man plenty to eat, but He put that one tree in the middle of the garden and told Adam that he must not eat from it. God loves us and He created us to have fellowship with Him. There is not true love in a relationship unless we are free to reject that love. God gave man a free will to decide if we love Him enough to trust Him, and trust Him enough to obey Him. To love God is to obey Him. It’s a choice. If we have no choice, we have no opportunity to love. Instead, we’re robots or puppets. But, what is really amazing, God’s love is so great that even though we all choose to disobey Him more often than we’d like to admit, He gives us a way to be forgiven, changed, and empowered to love Him through Jesus Christ.

RICHARDSON DRIVE PARKING Quite a number of families park along Richardson Drive when arriving / departing school. This is causing a number of concerns with the school and the local community.
Unsafe road crossing practices – parents / students at times are crossing without due care and a number of ‘near misses’ are being reported.
Children are alighting from cars road side.
Doors are opening without regard for other road users.
Common courtesies appear to be lacking at times as well.
I would ask that you reflect on these concerns if you park along Richardson Drive. The local community does judge the school on how we present ourselves, so I would encourage you to ensure that interactions with community members over parking concerns which may come up are done positively.
FLAGS I am in the process of purchasing flags of countries from which our students come. These flags will be displayed permanently at the far end of the undercover area and are to acknowledge the rich and diverse nature of our community. Flags displayed will be for students from families who identify with another culture and this culture has a significant impact on their home life (language, customs etc). The countries which we have identified so far for this are below. If your country is not represented could you please let me know asap.
India Russia Egypt Taiwan Kazakhstan China Croatia Sudan Sri Lanka Cambodia Poland Vietnam Philippines Greece SYMPATHY Our thoughts and prayers are with the Young family (Aiden yr. 4S) on the death of Samantha early last week. May God comfort Aiden, partner Mark and the rest of the family as they grieve their loss. TERM 2 HOLIDAYS Just a reminder that this term is a nine week term and concludes on Friday 30th June (Endeavour concludes at the same time). Vac Care will be available during this week. Staff are present at school during this week and will be attending professional development sessions. In Christ,
Shane

Our goal is that our students are engaged in learning
that is relevant, significant and challenging. Our
students are all on a learning journey and we aim to
provide opportunities for them to develop the
necessary skills and dispositions that will equip them
for their future.

LEARNING AROUND THE SCHOOL
As I walked around the school last Friday I wandered through the classes to see the learning in action. It is a joy to see the faces of both students and teachers enjoying learning together. That prompted me to share with you the following snippets.
Year 4 students were right into their PE lesson with Mr Salisbury, with a focus on basketball skills. While Mrs Mitton and her group were exploring maths rules and patterns while playing a mental math game.
Yr5/6 students were busy investigating fractions.
Asking what the purpose of the line is when writing a
fraction. What does it mean?
Year 2 students have begun their new Christians
Studies unit, tuning in by investigating what worship
spaces are and what is needed in their classes worship
space and why.
I marvelled at how far our Receptions have come in
only 13 weeks of school as I watched them engage with
each other in group discussion about what tolerance is,
specifically what it looks like here at school. I look
forward to seeing how their communication and social
skills develop as they move through the years.
We are excited to again present our Scholastic Book Fair to raise money for school resources. The fair will be held every day at 8:30am-9am and 3pm-3:30pm on Monday 29th May - Friday 2nd June, in our library. We look forward to seeing you at the fair!! Deirdre Fox & Jenny Canavese
