Trauma Informed Care Manual

Christie’s Place teamed up with AIDS United to co-author a resource that walks through the steps of designing a trauma-informed care program. The tool kit shares tips, best practices and directs you to additional resources! The Christie’s Place model shows that implementing trauma-informed care can increase your organization’s ability to meet the needs of people living with HIV and improve the overall wellness of your clients, staff, and organization.

We are thrilled to share that AIDS United has published the tool kit on trauma-informed care and that it is now available for download.

BOARD CORNER Meet Renee Sievert, RN, MFT Board Secretary at Christie’s Place (CP).

Renee is an author, speaker, and leadership consultant

with over 30 years of experience working in healthcare

and social services. She presents workshops nationwide

on staff and leadership development, motivational

interviewing, clinical education, co-occurring disorders

and ethics.

Renee worked at UCSD’s HIV Neurobehavioral Research

Center (HNRC) from 1989 – 1998 and early in those years,

she met Irene and Doug Milton, and Christie & Angel Torres. Renee remembers Christie as a

kind and courageous woman, loving mother and wife, and a fierce advocate for ensuring that

services were created for women, children and families impacted by HIV/AIDS and she ignited

that passion in others. Beginning in 1991, Renee was one of the first volunteers to facilitate

support groups in San Diego for Women with HIV/AIDS. Renee has been honored to serve at

Christie’s Place as a group facilitator, clinical education provider, leadership consultant and a

member of the board of directors for nearly 22 years.

Thank you for your dedication Renee!
