Dear Parishioners,
As discussed at our recent Annual Community Meeting, a number of our Parish Pastoral Council members have retired, or completed their terms. I thank them again for their dedicated service to our community. If you have ever
thought of serving in this capacity, now is the time! Please consider this seriously, as there is still an opportunity to nominate yourself or others whom you believe would suit this fulfilling role. I thank Kevin McLaughlin for agreeing to
serve as the new interim chairperson. Kevin and other new members will be commissioned in the new year.

PRAYING WITH ST JOHN OF THE CROSS
What is this ‘visitation’ that John talks about? He can talk about the divine which takes one’s breath away. But he relishes more a
presence that emerges from within, from behind; as if one entered a dark room, and sat there on one’s own…. Then after
some minutes, yes, there is someone there. John speaks of a kind of companionship and inner strength which walks with the
soul and gives her strength.
We invite you to come and walk with John for an hour – in
prayer, reflection, music and silence.
In this Year of Grace Advent calls us as individuals, as families
and as Christian communities to prepare, to
‘prepare a way for the Lord’. (Matthew 3:3)
Please take home a pack of Christmas letterbox flyers
from the church foyer to distribute to those in your street.
Please only deliver to homes inside our Parish boundaries
and cross off street name on the foyerboard.
2nd Rite of Reconciliation for
Christmas
The 2nd rite is a communal cele-bration of the Sacrament of Rec-
onciliation. As a community, we come together to listen and reflect on the Word of God, to express our sorrow for the times we have failed and to praise our God, whose forgive-ness is unfailing. Then we are given the opportunity to re-ceive the Sacrament of individual confession, either with one of our own parish priests, or with one of the priests from our neighbouring parishes. Please join your parish community for this life-giving and healing celebration.

BLESSING OF THE ADVENT WREATH 2nd Sunday in Advent
Celebrant Within the four weeks of the Advent season, the Church’s liturgy draws attention to different facets of the one reality of how God’s plan has been revealed in Christ, is now revealed in every Mass and Sacrament we celebrate, and that Christ will be revealed in his glory, when he comes again at a time we do not know. The celebrant blesses the wreath and the assembly with the sprinkling of holy water, saying: May this sprinkling of the waters of baptism, remind us of our first sharing in grace, that we may prepare for the Lords coming among us today and be ready for his second coming.
SECOND Candle is lit.
Celebrant: Lord Jesus, Your coming was proclaimed by the prophet Isaiah who calls us to be a “… signal to the peoples ..sought out by the nations…” as we journey to our glorious home. (First Reading)
Response: Come, Lord Jesus
Celebrant: Lord Jesus, You come among us now, as St Paul remembers those who “did not give up” in times of trial, but followed the example of Jesus, and gave glory to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Second Reading).
Response: Come, Lord Jesus.
Celebrant: Lord Jesus, You will come again in glory, because You want all the world to “…be baptised with the Holy Spirit and with fire” (Gospel).
Response: Come, Lord Jesus
Celebrant: Let us Pray: Almighty and merciful God, may no earthly
undertaking hinder those who set out in haste to meet Your Son, but may our learning of heavenly wisdom gain us admittance to Your company.
Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit. One God, for ever and ever.
Response: Amen
Choir and People Sing: Christ be our light Shine in our hearts Shine through the darkness Christ be our light Shine in your church—gathered today.
