Verse 1 I am weak and I need Thy strength
And power, To help me over My weakest hour. Let me through
The darkness Thy face to see, Lead me, oh Lord lead me.
Chorus Lead me, guide me along the way, For if You lead me I cannot stray.
Lord, let me walk each day with Thee. Lead me, oh Lord lead me.
Verse 2 Help me tread in the
Paths of righteousness. Be my aid When Satan and sin oppress.
I am putting all my trust in Thee: Lead me, oh Lord lead me.
Verse 3 I am lost if You take Your hand from me,
I am blind without Thy light to see. Lord just always let me Thy servant be,
Lead me, oh Lord lead me.
PSALM 139:23-24 (niV)23Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Litany for StewardshipMINISTER: The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. (Ps. 24:1).
PeoPLe: We possess nothing, not even ourselves. We are but stewards for our Creator, and all that we have is a gift from God.
MINISTER: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” (Mal. 3:10).
PeoPLe: Lord, forgive us for our selfishness. We think that our security lies in our own hands, but that is only an illusion. Help us to seek You and Your Kingdom.
MINISTER: “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked” (Luke 12:48).
PeoPLe: Gracious God, enable us to be good stewards of all Your blessings. Help us to use our time, talents, and treasure wisely and to Your glory.
MINISTER: Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions” (Luke 12:15).
PeoPLe: Lord, help us not be consumed with material gain.
MINISTER: Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine (Prov. 3:9-10).
PeoPLe: Money is not evil unless it leads us away from You, Lord. May we honor You with our wealth and use it for good.
MINISTER: Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies (1 Cor. 6:19-20).
PeoPLe: Our lives are not our own. We cannot save ourselves. We need You to rescue us from death. We have been bought with Your precious blood; may we live not for ourselves but for You, Jesus.
MINISTER: The Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
PeoPLe: Lord, change our orientation from being getters to being givers, so that we might know the joy of Your blessed life.
ALL: We pray for wisdom and courage to make good stewardship a way of life. The life that you give us is filled with love, mercy and grace!

hoWARD GoSPeL ChoiR oF hoWARD UniVeRSiTy, founded in the fall of 1968 by Melanie Russell (Lee) and Rosalind Thompkins (Lynch), the Howard Gospel Choir (HGC) of Howard University is the first collegiate choir of its kind in the world. The choir is currently under the musical direction of Howard alumni, Reginald Golden; Darrell Brown, also a Howard alumni, serves as the choir’s assistant musical director.
Exceptional musicians have always been instrumental in shaping HGC’s unique sound to embrace both contemporary and traditional gospel, church hymns, Negro spirituals and classically arranged anthems. For over two decades, the late Arphelius Paul Gatling, III, largely responsible for crafting the unique sound of the choir, served as the Musical Director.
HGC has pioneered an international legacy in gospel music ministry. With an active roster of seventy-plus persons, the choir is one of the largest religious life organizations on campus, operating under the historic Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel. The Dean of the Chapel, Rev. Dr. Bernard Richardson, serves as the choir’s advisor.
In addition to distinguished professionals in every imaginable discipline, past members of this award- winning ensemble include Grammy award winners Richard Smallwood, Coré Cotton (member of Sounds of Blackness), Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark of the legendary Clark Sisters, and R&B star, Angela Winbush.
The choir has been blessed to receive national exposure, having appeared from coast to coast within the continental United States, and international exposure, having served as cultural ambassadors to countries such as Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Italy, Montenegro, Sweden and the Caribbean island of Barbados, and have participated in other cultural exchange activities and conducted a number of master classes discussing various vocal exercises and the history of Gospel Music.
Notwithstanding the legacy of excellence and the vast accomplishments since its inception, HGC ’s main objective remains the same: to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ through song. Our purpose and passion is to serve Christ with our musical gifts bringing peace, restoration, healing and inspiration to all who will lend their ears and hearts. It’s more than just singing; this is ministry.

“WhiCh RoAD ShALL i TAke?”
In the Sermon on the Mount, central to Jesus’ teaching, he speaks of many good, essential things in life, but then adds, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33) This is a great promise, but don’t we wish he had been a little more specific? How many times in life it would be helpful if we could ask Jesus for help with our specific priorities! Prayer can help with this, but choosing also takes a lot of hard work.
What road do we take to reach the “Kingdom of God”? We need to think of this as both a long-term and a day-to-day question. If we tried to project what we want our life to look like when completed, we probably would look more at the kind of person we were than at any specific things we accomplished. If so, this is true also for daily decisions. If there are goals we want to reach, what can we do today that will move us toward them? As we look back at the end of a day did we gain some new insight, resist some unworthy impulse, or show love to someone in need? Did we contribute an upward force in our surroundings? If so, then today’s road is worth trying again tomorrow.
After choosing our road, now we need to keep looking up, concentrating on our highest hopes, rather than our greatest fears! Can we look at even small gains that were satisfying and worth pursuing again? David Livingstone said, “I will go anywhere, provided it be forward.”
One time, after teaching five thousand people, Jesus realized there was another priority. People needed to be fed. His disciples offered no solution. Jesus, though, knew that people have more inner resources than we might expect. With the help of a little boy, he fed them all. You and I need to share who we are and what we have. Step by step, with God’s help, we can find nourishment for both the world and ourselves.

Lenten Fast
Fasting for the Lenten SeasonFor 2015, as a church, we are being called to – Renew, Reclaim, Restore, Reconnect – Renewing our relationship with God, Reclaiming our African heritage, Restoring justice and mercy, and Reconnecting to our community. During this Lenten season, as we are called to a church-wide fast, we should also be sure to take advantage of our Reset cards each Sunday for scriptural nuggets and a unifying prayer. Fasting is a spiritual discipline designed to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ. We do not fast to lose weight; we fast to be empowered by Jesus Christ. In 2015, as we seek to Renew our relationship with God, God will reveal God’s purpose and plan in your life if you dare fast, pray, study and learn the power of quiet time. Jesus had to steal away from the crowd and spend time with his Father in the mountains, to pray, study, reflect, meditate, and center his spirit. If fasting and prayer were the disciplines of Jesus, should not this be followed by us? Join with us this season and witness a breakthrough as we fast, pray, study, reflect, meditate and learn the power of quiet time.
Question: i have never fasted before?Answer: Consult your doctor first!* Fasting is not the removal of all food from your diet. Fasting is learning to discipline your mind, body and spirit to remove “something” you know hinders your ability to function at your highest capacity, from your life or diet.
Question: is fasting biblical?Answer: Fasting is biblical. Throughout the Old and New Testaments, fasting was used by the people of God to prepare for a spiritual challenge, hear God’s voice before making a major decision, and for removing destructive forces in your life.
Fast #1 - Fasting to confront destructive forces • February 18 – February 24
Eat all your meals before 6:00 p.m. • February 25 – March 3
Eat only two meals before 6:00 p.m. • March 4 – March 10 - Eat only one meal a
day before 6:00 p.m.• March 11 – March 17
Drink only juices, water and/or tea
• March 18 – March 24Eat only fruits and vegetables before 6:00 p.m.
• March 25 – April 4Slowly begin to add meat to your diet
Fast #2 – The Daniel Fast (Taken from the book of Daniel). When Daniel was captured by the Babylonians, he asked of the Babylonians if he, along with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, could fast eating only fruits and vegetables so they would be prepared to confront the Babylonian king.
• February 18 – February 24 Eat all meals before 6:00 p.m.
• February 25 –March 3Eat only two meals a day before 6:00 p.m.
• March 4 – March 10Eat only fruits and vegetables before 6:00 p.m.
• March 11 – March 17Eat one meal a day before 6:00 p.m., meat may be added.
• March 18 – March 24Eat two meals a day before 6:00 p.m., meat may be added
• March 25 – April 4Eat three meals a day before 6:00 p.m.
Fast #3 - Removing certain foods or items from your diet or life. One type of fasting is to remove certain foods from your diet, such as fried foods, sweets, sodas or refined sugar and/or flour.
*Please seek the advice of your primary care provider/doctor before beginning a fast that involves restricting food/calories and/or medication. Your doctor can help you design a fasting plan that protects your health and well-being. This is extremely important if you are pregnant or have a medical condition. Medical condition examples include, but are not limited to those who have a chronic disease such as diabetes, HIV/AIDS, hypertension, heart disease, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, recent surgery, etc.

Participate in the 7-day Green Challenge. The goal is for you to challenge yourself daily to be “GReen” Below describes what to do for each day. each day will be different.
Leave all paper behind Sunday Make it a goal to eliminate your use of paper for just one day! Recycle bulletins in the green containers around the church. Don’t take a bulletin, use the bulletin you can find on the Trinity App. Don’t take an envelope for giving, do it electronically.
Meatless Monday Dine without eating meat for one day. Meat processing plants pollute our environment. Minimize the need for such processing by choosing not to partake in meat for just one day.
Transportation Tuesday Minimize transportation needs: car pool, take public transportation, walk where you can, plan your routes to minimize extra driving, clean your vehicle trunk to improve on gas mileage, etc.
Waste not Wednesday Turn off and unplug items in your household that might produce phantom electricity. Do this before you leave the home.
no plastic on purpose Thursday Try not to use any plastic on this day. For example, drink water from re-usable containers, use a stainless coffee mug for your coffee instead of buying it from the store, etc.
Reassigned the recyclables Friday On this day, create a recycling solution in your home. Make it simple for you to use going forward. Find a container for recycling glass, plastic, paper.
Lights out Saturday Turn off lights for one hour, between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., as a symbol of your commitment to Mother Earth.
Document your experience, we want to hear from you! Send an email to [email protected], or share on Facebook and Twitter the good news, the ups and downs, and/or the challenges you may have faced. Send us a picture of you engaging in this activity. Challenge your family and friends to do the same. It only takes small steps to start the green journey!

Farewell to civil rights icon and activist
Rev. Willie T. Barrow
Rev. Willie T. Barrow, a longtime civil rights leader and freedom fighter who marched alongside Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Selma march, died on Thursday, March 12th, at the age of 90.
Known as “The Little Warrior,” Rev. Barrow helped found the Chicago chapter of Operation Breadbasket with Rev. Jesse Jackson (which ultimately merged with People United to Save Humanity – PUSH – to form Rainbow/PUSH.) She was the first woman to serve as national vice-president of Operation PUSH, and became its president in 1986.
Rev. Barrow spent a life of activism, at the forefront of women’s and gay/lesbian issues. She also designed and created one of the first AIDS quilts.
We thank God for a life well lived in service to God and humanity.
