Dear Parishioners,

You might have read in The Tablet about a month ago, that a recent survey of

Catholics in the U.S.A. showed that 31% of us believe that the Holy Eucharist is truly the Body,

Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ. The rest of the survey respondents think that the Eucharist

is merely a symbol of Christ’s Body and Blood.

Naturally, this is upsetting. One way we have of adding more emphasis to the

sacredness of the words of consecration during the mass is to restore the ringing of the bell at the

presentation of the sacred species. This will take effect immediately. I encourage more daily visits to

the tabernacle.

On Friday, September 27th, we had our 16th Golf Outing. God blessed us with beautiful

weather and I am indebted to Harry D’Onofrio who very graciously filled the role of the late Arnie

Fusco as Chair of the Joe Moran Memorial Golf Outing. He was ably assisted by Matt Clavin,

Rosemarie Fusco Amatore, Suzanne Grimaldi, Bob Moran, Rich O’Mara, Matt Sanabria and many

others who sold chances and 50/50’s, who assisted in the setup and cleanup, M&M Caterers and

school volunteers. Thank you, also, to all the patrons, golfers and all who supported the event.

I am also grateful to John Delaney who organized the Car Show on Saturday, September

14th. The proceeds of $750.00 were divided between the Little Sisters of the Poor and St. John’s

Bread and Life which is Brooklyn’s largest Soup Kitchen and which is sponsored by the Vincentians

at St. John’s University.

The Church will close at 2:00pm for a few more days to enable workers to restore the floor

of the church. Please pardon the temporary inconvenience while we beautify our church.

Lastly, October is the month of the rosary which is a proven prayer for peace. Try to say five

decades or as many as you can every day for peace within the Church, within our own country and

among all the countries of the world.

THE JEREMIAH PROJECT

This program is for high school boys who show some interest in vocation to the priesthood and/or college seminary.
