Biblical Perspective As we approach the New Year, we can reflect on the 1st reading at today’s Mass by trusting God and His promises to all of us. We can strengthen this trust by reading daily or weekly Bible verses which are an excel-lent way for Christians to reflect upon their lives. Scrip-tures are inspirational, encouraging, and comforting, espe-cially for those who have had a difficult year. Taking pause and reflecting upon the past, while putting trust in God for the future, Bible verses will help remind all Chris-tians that though tomorrow may not be known, God has the future under control. As Abram (Abraham) and Sarah were promised by God to have an heir, it was difficult for them to believe because both he and Sarah were very old and past childbearing years. They were very discouraged ,but Abraham trusted God ,and his dream of having a son came true. Issac was born. If we look at this one quote below from Jeremiah 29:11, we see a powerful verse for anyone who feels like giving up after a difficult or tumultuous year. It is for all of us a constant reminder that God is al-ways on our side, and no matter what we have been through, God’s hope and desire for us is that of peace and goodness. Those looking for encourage-ment this New Year have the perfect place to go THE BIBLE!

Jeremiah wrote: “I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord; thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

FROM THE DESK OF THE PASTOR...

To the Parishioners of Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Lourdes,

Beginning the New Year of 2018 our parish bulletins will have a new look. In fact, the two bul-letins will become one joint bulletin between our two parishes. This will help ease the flow of information between both communities as well as keep us abreast of information in our Pastoral Care Area and in the greater Catholic Community. Each week we will try to include something educational about the Catholic Faith we profess. We hope you will like the new look and the new approach as we take yet another step in walking together as two Catholic parishes sharing the same pastoral leadership.

Gratefully, Fr. Joe Salerno
