NEWS AND EVENTS

+ My dear parishioners:

I hope and pray that everyone had a very enjoyable Christmas celebration! I very much enjoyed my first Christmas

at Saint E’s. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who decorated the church and who lent their musi-

cal abilities to create such joyful music at each Mass. I also want to thank the altar servers, the lectors, the Eucha-

ristic ministers, the greeters, and the ushers, who worked hard to make this Christmas so beautiful.

January 1

st

will mark the 18

th

Anniversary of my ordination in Rome. It is also my Dad’s birthday. He will be 78

this year! That was quite a day 18 years ago because it was the first day of the Third Christian Millennium. Per-

haps you all remember Y2K? Well, we were ready in Rome with extra candles in case we lost power in the middle

of the ordination Mass! My Dad was turning 60; my cousin was eight months pregnant but climbed the Spanish

Steps in spite of not feeling well; my uncle was pickpocketed one evening, and my mother was so sick the next day

that the first solo Mass that I celebrated was in her hotel room with about ten of us surrounding her bed. As I

said . . . it was quite an experience!

Now, 18 years later, I am here in Wyckoff with you and very excited about all that awaits us this year. I am looking

forward to all of us growing closer and getting to know one another so much better. I promise, as do Father Carlos

and Father Vincent, to give you our best pastoral care always.

Classically, we all make resolutions at the beginning of the year. My hope is that we take a few moments to check

in to see where we are spiritually. It is really good to reflect on our relationship with God and find ways to be close

to Him and communicate more deeply with Him. I try to do this too. In fact, I will be taking a few days at the end

of January to go on a silent retreat for five days. This focused time with God is always so peaceful, but it is also

very powerful to know that God is with me. It fills me with renewed strength and energy. Given the very busy lives

we lead raising our families and working so hard professionally, I know that a silent retreat for some of you might

be what you desire the most. In that case, I strongly encourage you to consider participating in our two upcoming

Cornerstone retreats. The women will gather during the first weekend in February and the men at the beginning

of March.

Finally, I hope that you have all had the chance to check out our new website. I want us as a staff to be able to stay

in better contact with all of you. So one of the things that I would like to do this year is to send email blasts as

things happen here in the parish. Very soon we will reach out to you to make sure that we have all of your updated

contact information.

For now, let me wish you and your families a very happy and blessed New Year! May it be one of our best as a faith

community!

God bless,

Christmas Flowers This verse rings true all year, but never truer that at Christmas. The poinsettias, greens & trees

lend a beauty to our church at this joyous season. A flower memorial is a great way to remember your loved ones this Christ-

mas. Donation envelopes were included in your envelope packet and are available in the Narthex or Parish Center. Clearly

fill in the name of your loved ones and turn in the envelopes with the collection. A special listing of all memorial names will

be in our January bulletin.

There will be one Mass only at 9am on January 1, 2018. The Parish Center will be closed.

Bereavement Support Night We encourage anyone who has experienced a recent loss to join us on Bereavement

Support Night which will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 7:30-9pm in the Amadeus Room. No registration is necessary.

Overnight Adoration Monthly Overnight Adoration is every 2nd Friday. The next Adoration will be on Friday, Janu-

ary 12 at 7:00pm and ending with Benediction prior to the 9:00am Mass, Saturday, January 13. Adorers will be asked to

commit to a specific hour. If you are interested, contact Pat Khanjian 201-891-3262-ext 226, [email protected].

MASS INTENTIONS

RCIA...IS RCIA FOR YOU or SOMEONE YOU KNOW?

Do you know someone or are you someone who is interested in becoming

Catholic or is a Catholic but has yet to receive all of the Sacraments of

Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist)? The RCIA is a process

of prayer, reflection, and learning that allows for the continual

discernment of God’s will in our lives. Candidates include:

• Non-baptized adults who wish to enter the Catholic Church

• Baptized adult Christians of another denomination (i.e. Lutheran,

Anglican, Presbyterian) who wish to continue their Christian faith in

the Catholic Church.

• Adult baptized Catholics who have not completed the Sacraments of

Initiation (Holy Communion and/or Confirmation) and wish to do so.

Now is a great time to get information and find out more! For

more information, contact Jonathan Camiolo, 201-891-3262 x 225 or

How is your relationship with Christ?

Is it where you want it to be?

What do your days look like?

Hectic? Out of control at times? Tiring?

Many people find that when their relationship with Christ is strong--developed on

a more personal level--that it improves every other aspect of their life.

Why don't you give it a try?
