FATHER ALEJANDRO SANCHEZ On Saturday, June 29, at 5:30 p.m. a Mass of Thanksgiving will be offered with a light reception to follow in the Parish Center Gymnasium. Please join us to give thanks to God and to pray and support Father Alejandro in his new assignment. Father Alejandro will have completed his three-year term and will begin his new assignment on July 1.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION

This Sunday, June 23, we will celebrate Corpus Christi Sunday. and will hold our procession at 4:00 p.m. If the weather is favorable, the procession will move down Cottage Street, turn onto Wisner Avenue and continue through the Cemetery. If the weather is not conducive, the procession will be held in the Main Church. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will be given at the Procession. All are welcome to pray with us.

From July 15 until July 19, the main parking lot will be resealed. Any cracks will be filled in and the lines will be painted. During that week, Masses will be celebrated in the Main Church. The Blessed Sacrament Chapel will be inaccessible and therefore Adoration will be suspended for that time. Progress is being made on our new Parish Office which soon will be moving into the old convent. The new Parish Office will include a main office, a cemetery office, space for the priests to meet with parishioners, a conference room and a small chapel. We are most grateful to parishioners who have paid or are making payments on their pledges. If you owe payments on a pledge, please do your best to send in your payments so that work can continue uninterrupted. If you have not made a pledge and wish to do so, you can contact us at 845-343-6013 for a pledge form, or pick one up at the side entrances of the Church.

PERPETUAL ADORATION

Today we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi which translates to the Body of Christ. We celebrate that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, remains truly alive in our midst through the wonderful gift of the Holy Eucharist. We believe that Jesus is present to us in His entirety: Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity! In Belgium St. Juliana, a nun and mystic, had a series of visions in which she was instructed by our Lord to work to establish a liturgical feast for the Holy Eucharist. After many years of trying, she convinced the bishop, the future Pope Urban IV, to establish such a feast. Soon after Juliana’s death and a Eucharistic miracle in Italy, Pope Urban established Corpus Christi as a feast for the universal church. It was first celebrated in 1264. Because Jesus is present in the Holy Eucharist, He deserves to be honored and adored. Saint Pope Paul VI spelled this out clearly in his encyclical Mysterium Fidei: “To visit the Blessed Sacrament is … a proof of gratitude, an expression of love, and a duty of Adoration toward Christ our Lord.” Become a Guardian of the Eucharist. Promise Jesus that you will be there weekly … one specific hour of one specific day … to keep Him company. To sign up, call Marty or Clarice Suchy at 845-692-4510.

REGISTER FOR JULY CAMP Registration is under way for St. Joseph’s basketball camp, which will be held July 8-12. The camp is for boys and girls of any skill level who are entering grades 4-9. Registration forms can be found at the entrances of the Church. With the generosity of parishioners and businesses, we strive to keep camp affordable. A donation of $100 allows a child to attend camp for the week and receive lunch. If you would like to be a personal or business sponsor, or for other questions, please contact Chris Russo at 845-609-7052 or at [email protected]

ALTAR ROSARY SOCIETY The Altar Rosary Society is looking for new members to join either the Society itself or a new branch called the Altar Rosary Auxiliary. The Altar Rosary Society meets as a group to help prepare the altars for the different celebrations throughout the year. They hold regular meetings, elect officers to work with the Pastor and clergy. In past years they have even had social events from time to time. They sometimes engage in fundraising to help purchase linens, altar cloths, church supplies and to help pay for cleaning of altar cloths and vestments. The Altar Rosary Auxiliary assists the Altar Rosary Society by volunteering on cleaning teams, helping to decorate the altars, washing the small altar linens and mending cloths when necessary. Auxiliary members do not run for office, vote or attend regular meetings. Both the Altar Rosary Society and the Auxiliary are open to women of the parish who are practicing Catholics. Those interested in joining should call the Parish Office at 845-343-6013 and specify whether they are requesting to join the Society or the Auxiliary.
