MARRIAGE MOMENTS: As we enter the holy season of Advent, the rest of the world often knows this as the holiday and party season. Who does most of the decorating, buying, cooking, and cleaning up around your home? Is it shared? Is it hectic? Is it too much? Simplify.

Enliven your spirit for Christmas: The annual “Presence for Christmas” program will be held Dec. 2 and Dec. 16 at St. George Church, 5145 Peach St., Erie. The event begins both days at 7 p.m., with confessions available beginning at 6:30 p.m. Journey to the heart of Christmas with uplifting stories, song and Eucharistic Adoration by candlelight. Families are welcome and encouraged to attend. Fellowship follows each event. A prayer team will be available to minister to those with specific prayer requests. Music provided by Daniel Cabanillas and the Made2Worship Band. A free will offering will be taken both days to benefit Maria House Project, Erie. Questions?Contact [email protected] or at 814-490-3160. Mercyhurst University to present holiday concert: The Mercyhurst University Concert Choir and Carpe Diem Women, under the direction of Rebecca Ryan, will present their annual holiday concert Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at Walker Recital Hall on Mercyhurst’s Erie campus. Featured will be Pergolesi’s “Magnificat” with strings and soloists, as well as early carols and selections from Rachmaninoff’s “All-Night Vigil.” General admission is $5; Mercyhurst students and employees will be admitted for $2. Tickets will be available at the door, or call in advance at 814-824-3000. Follow the Star Christmas Tour 2015: The Follow the Star Christmas Tour 2015, featuring Tennessee Backporch, will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 2801 W. 6th St., Erie, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. The program will include the talents of students from Our Lady’s Christian School, Erie, and the Villa Maria High School show choir, The Treblemakers. Proceeds will benefit St. Jude the Apostle and Our Lady’s Christian School Youth Ministry. For more information, go to www.stjudeapos.org or call 814-833-0927. Questions for the week: The people of Israel, to whom the prophet Baruch is speaking today, were in need of an injection of hope. They needed to hear that God would carry them to a better day. They were told to “take off [their] robes of mourning and misery” and be “secure in the glory of God.” Followers of John the Baptist were in need of a similar injection. He tells them that “every mountain and hill shall be made low,” that hope will sustain them till a better day arrives. The Scriptures of the entire Advent season are filled with messages of hope. They tell us that no matter how bad things are, there’s reason to “keep on keeping on.” What do you see as hopeful signs in these days when darkness seems to occupy so many of the headlines? A favorite Christmas carol contains the verse: “The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight!” How was hope born in the person of

Jesus Christ? Can you share some ways in which hope has been a positive force in your life?
