THIS IS US Howdy y’all! We are the Tarver family and have the

privilege of being the lead planters for West Conroe

Baptist Church’s Logan, Utah church plant. Beth

found out very quickly that the only thing ‘country’

about Seth is his Southeast Texas accent, and Seth

found out very quickly that he had met his match!

His petite five-foot three-inch athletic blonde bible

loving football cheering horseback riding Californian wife was the ministry minded helper that he had

asked for in prayer for over the span of 25 years. By the way, she is country enough for them both.

She is the great adventure that his life needs! She has set foot on almost every continent with the

drive to make disciples of all the nations. It is her love for our Lord and Savior that makes her

irresistible to Seth and together with his love for Christ, they are compelled to tell the world about the

gospel of salvation of grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Seth was called to ministry at 12

years old and has served in ministry as: Associate Pastor of Children, Youth and College Minister,

Associate Pastor to Senior Adults and as Senior Pastor. He was given a passion for ministry by God

and was also given a desire to leave the ‘Bible Belt’ and serve in ministry somewhere northwest of

Texas. Then in 2017, the God given desire that had lingered for 20 years was satisfied. On a trip to

Utah, Seth immediately recognized that God had called him to the people and community of Utah.

The calling was confirmed by a pastor in Utah that he and Beth had never previously met. The pastor

spoke almost word for word what they had prayed the night before while asking God to confirm their

calling. Then when they returned home there were two actual signs that confirmed their call to Utah.

Two billboards on their regular walking trail had changed. Days earlier when they left for Utah the

billboards advertised the FT. Worth Cow Town Marathon. Now they were back from Utah, walking on

their trail and praying about this calling. They were amazed to see that the first billboard now read

“Go Build It” and down the trail the second read “Go Start It!” A few months later Seth and Beth

returned to Utah to discern where to plant a church. God led them to the city of Logan. First, they

discovered that a family who previously attended Beth’s former church in California had moved to

Logan. Next, two random families approached Seth about making a permanent move to help start

the new church. Both families informed Seth and Beth that God called them to join the church and

that Logan was where the church should be started. Since then, two other families have expressed

the desire to spend their summers in Logan to help start this new church. God is guiding and He is

providing! As we follow God’s calling, will you pray about how you can partner with us to start this

new church?

LOGAN, UTAH

The city of Logan, Utah is an astonishingly beautiful destination. Nestled within the Cache

Valley of the Bear River Mountains and seated on the Logan River, this well-kept secret of a town

provides great atmosphere, scenery and opportunity for outdoorsmen of all kinds. The city and

surrounding metropolitan area have routinely made national lists for Safest Communities based on

“City Crime Rankings.” It was also ranked as the #1 Best Place to be a Kid on Christmas by the

Martin Prosperity Institute. The city also holds great promise for the future through the efforts of Utah

State University. The university began and has continued to flourish as a leading agricultural school,

but it is now providing our nation with a talented work force in the ever-increasing technology and

engineering worlds. So, what’s lacking in such a great place to live?

The Logan metro area has a population of approximately 121,000 people. According to The

Association of Religion Data Archives, less than 1% of Cache County’s population adhere to a true

Bible believing faith. This metro area is lacking gospel driven churches! By using the International

Mission Board’s standards, this area could be considered both “unreached” and “unengaged.” The

Logan metro area is in desperate need of churches and by extension church partners!

VISION & MISSION

VISION:

The new church will be dedicated to being a domestic and foreign church planting faith family

that is measured by “sending capacity” instead of seating capacity. We want each member

and his/ her family to consider how to leverage careers, allocate resources, use talents and

spend time in service to plant additional churches that will make disciples throughout the

Logan metro area and beyond.

MISSION:

West Conroe Baptist Church is starting a new church in Logan, Utah to engage the unreached

with the true gospel of Jesus Christ, to develop outreaching disciples and to plant other

churches throughout the Logan metro area.

CORE VALUES:

The Entire Bible

We will teach through the entire Bible in which a believer will learn to know God, worship Him

and obediently serve Him.

Gospel Driven Life

The gospel of Jesus demands obedience in every aspect of our personal life. We will be driven

in our church body to follow in the same obedience by spreading the only good news that can

save, bring hope and have transformational effect on a person’s life.

Generous Stewardship

God has generously given us salvation through His Son Jesus’ sacrifice. He also generously

empowers us to accomplish His will through the Holy Spirit, His word and His provision. In

obedience and in worship, we will follow His example by generously blessing the Logan metro

area through gospel minded stewardship.

STRATEGY

 

CONNECT:

Learn about and plug into the Logan metro area. Get to know our community

neighbors, pastors, city officials, businesses, and Utah State University.

CARE:

Grow in community with the Logan metro area. Attend neighbourhood meetings, city

council meetings, city-wide events, and Utah State University events. Identify needs of

the Logan metro area and develop a strategic community outreach ministry for the

church plant.

CALL:

Evangelize throughout the community. Share the gospel with the community through

regular CONNECT and CARE efforts and alongside partner churches that come on short-

term mission trips to the Logan metro area. Follow-up with new believers and plug

them into our discipleship program.

COACH:

Teach and train new believers. Make disciples through weekly worship, preaching,

study of God’s word, and prayer. Identify their gifting and inspire them to begin the

process of CARE, CALL and COACH in gospel ministry for the Logan metro area.

Foundational Partnership

Prayer is foundational for our ministry and is desperately needed to sustain the ministry in

Logan. Partner with us in praying for God to go before us to prepare the hearts of those who

would respond to the gospel in Logan, Utah.

Network Partnership

People serving alongside us on short-term and or long-term mission is essential to winning

the unreached of Logan to the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Partner with us by sending mission

teams from your church to Logan and or by connecting us with other families, pastors and

churches who have a heart, passion or call for ministry in Utah.

Resource Partnership

Provision supports and sustains new churches as new believers learn giving principles in the

first couple years of their faith. New churches also have costly first-time purchases for

establishment. A Resource Partnership may be a one-time financial gift, a regular recurring

financial gift, and or the giving or loaning of equipment and supplies. Partner with us by

financially giving or supplying other resources to establish the new church in Logan, Utah.

* This figure assumes a bi-vocational ministry. $5,000 per month would be the full-time

vocational ministry salary; this would make the Total Cost per month $9,000.

FUNDRAISING GOALS

GOAL #1 To raise $6,500 per month ($78,000 per year) in pledge commitments from Resource

Partners: churches, life groups, Bible study groups, and individual families.

UPDATE: The church plant has received generous pledge commitments from a variety

of Resource Partners that total $6,500 per month, GOAL #1 achieved on June 5, 2018!

GOAL #2 To raise an additional $3,500 per month ($42,000 per year) in pledge commitments

from Resource Partners: churches, life groups, Bible study groups, and individual

families.

GOAL #3 To raise an additional and separate $60,000 for initial start-up costs.

APPENDIX: Giving  

West Conroe Baptist Church (WCBC) is the main avenue of support for the Church Plant in Logan,

Utah. All gifts will be directed to the designated account “SEND SLC” of WCBC until the church in

Logan is officially established. The following explains how to give a financial gift to support the

Church Plant in Logan, Utah.

Online Giving

a)   Go to the following web address: https://app.securegive.com/wcbc

b)   Click the “Click to Donate” circle.

c)   Create a “Secure Give Account” or Select the option to “give without an account.”

2)   Select the type of gift you would like to make: either “One-Time” or “Recurring”

a)   Enter the amount of your gift into the box that is designated as “SEND SLC.”

i.   Your gift must be a whole number. You do not have the option to add

decimal numbers. The system automatically adds .00 after you have

entered your whole number. Ex) To give a gift of $100.00 simply enter

100 into the gift box.

3)   Select the “Schedule” for your gift. If you chose to give a “Recurring gift” you will have

the option to select the time-period for your giving. Ex) If you wish to give only for 1 year,

then you would select 1/1/2018 to 1/1/2019. If you chose a “One-Time gift” simply

select the date that you would like the gift to be processed.

4)   Be sure to LOG OUT after you have completed your giving. Remember to save your LOG

IN information. You always have the option of logging into your account to edit your

giving information and or gift amount.
