Riding Season is here. We had a great showing for the funeral escort of PFC Devoe from the Syracuse Exec Air Terminal to the Auburn Funeral Home by our folks and the Patriot Guard Riders. Now here is the most accurate numbers for the Cicero American Legion Riders Membership. 46 Paid Members, 4 Support Members and 7 with un-paid dues. So, that would make 50 Actually members. Need to wel-come our newest member Neill Dewald, who also is the Commander of Collamer VFW & Brian Sanford was voted in as a support mem-ber. Brian does a lot for our association like newsletter article, post-ing flyers, and general support. We now have Challenge Coins for sale; flyers are posted at the Legion. Also at the bar is a dona-tion can to-wards the T.A.P.S. (Tragedy As-sistance Pro-gram for Sur-vivors). This Riders Group is probably the best group of people any-one could have ever wanted as we all work together. 15 of our mem-bers came in on a recent Sunday morning and painted the Bar/Fish Fry Area. Please check out our pages of the Legion website at http://ciceropost.com/LegionRiders.htm ... We are looking forward to meeting new members soon. TROOPS SUPPORT I would like to say Thank You to all who have recently do-nated items for the troop box. Even though there is a lot of talk saying our troops will be home soon , there will still be countless troops that will still be overseas in need of our sup-port. I know our economy is hurting and we all may not have cash to donate but if we all just donate 1 item that is greatly ap-preciated. A few months back when the DVD's were stolen from our car a woman graciously donated DVD's with a monetary gift that was to be used for her but instead she used it buy DVD;s for the troops. I also would like to say THANK YOU to our private donor of the 118 DVD's that were brought in to the post. If any-one needs a letter recognizing their donation for tax purposes please let us know. Let us not forget our troops! On behalf of all the troops I wish to say Thank You, Rose Danielewicz

We honor the American Gold Star Mothers as we approach another Memorial Day. Mary Burgen is a member of Cicero American Legion Auxiliary and is past State President. Mary writes: A Gold Star Mother Yes, I am a Gold Star Mother who gave the supreme sacrifice, my son. His name was Errold Farrar (Green Baret). He was killed De-cember 23, 1969. It’s been a long time, but I can still hear him say when he got home at night, Mom I’m home. The words never to hear again. He asked before he left for overseas, if something happened to him, could he be bur-ied in Arlington, and that is where he is laid to rest. I am president of American Gold Star Mother and Past State. We have 8 Mother in our Chapter 15, Syracuse, NY. 6 — VietNam, 1 Gulf, 1 Iraq. If there is any Mother who had a Daughter or Son who died in War Zone, come and join us, we share the same grief. To-gather always Mary C Burgen

Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgama-tion of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and secu-rity. If you share this respect, please join us. We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn’t matter where you are from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect. Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two ba-sic objectives: 1 Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their community. 2 Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors. We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means. To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all. For more info: go to: www.patriotguard.org

It should come to no one’s surprise that we are now moving over to our own web site domain. The past 8 months have been truly amazing and words could never truly describe what this all means to so many people. Last night a soldier had just returned home on R&R from Afghanistan and myself and the Lindsey’s were honored to watch this family, with two toddlers, reunite. It made every moment spent on the phone or in front of this computer screen worth it.

Thank you for your continued support and now ….
