their World Cup cam-paign.

New Zealandcrawled along to 239and at that point oftime, it seemed like In-dia were on top. Butthat was not to be. Theballs were thrown toMatt Henry and TrentBoult and disasterstruck soon after. In-dia were 24/4 in no timeand that sealed the

ter scoring the winningsix of which he was ca-pable. His mad rush forjust one more run costIndia her deserving winin the Semi-Final.

Dhoni’s run outdashed the hope of In-dians march to the Fi-nal. With 25 runs need-ed in 10 balls Dhonicould have avoided thesecond run. When hewas capable of hittingsixes and fours why heendangered himself andthe prospects of Indiastill remains a puzzle!

That was actually ano ball which the um-pire did not notice assix fielders were stand-ing outside the 30-yardcircle. According to ICCrules, only 5 fielderscan be outside of the 30-yard circle in the 3rdpowerplay.

Even though itwould not affect Dho-ni’s run out, fans arequestioning if Dhoniwould have taken therisk and pushed for thesecond run had heknown it was a no-ball.

Reactions

“I’m very disap-pointed. We played out-standing cricketthroughout this tour-nament and to just goout on the basis of 45minutes of bad cricketis saddening and itbreaks your heart be-cause you have workedso hard throughout thetournament to buildmomentum.” Kohlisaid after the match.

Speaking at the post-match press conference,Williamson said: “We allknow the game is a fineline in a number ofways. But that run outwas significant. We’veseen Dhoni finishgames from similar po-

sitions on a number ofoccasions.”

Meanwhile, SachinTendulkar also pointedout that the entire team, including the supportstaff, need to give them-selves time to come outof the World Cup 2019disappointment.

“Time is the great-est healer, we just haveto wait for a while, stepaside a little bit giveyourself some time andthen take a call,” Ten-dulkar added.

My observation wasthat overall, the Indianteam had performedbrilliantly save theSemi-Final. It shouldcontinue to work hardand bring the covetedcup back to India in2023. It is capable ofwinning. India is stillthe best One Day Inter-national Team. It isjust that we are notgood in Two Day Inter-nationals!

More InformationVery few fashion de-

signers work in hautecouture ('high fashion')firms or produce theirown collections, or earnthe high incomes re-putedly associated withthe job.

Most work for cloth-ing manufacturers anddesign for the massmarket. With changesin technology, designerready-to-wear productscan be available on thehigh street in a fewweeks.

There can be oppor-tunities to workabroad.

Expert’s views:Fashion design is

the art of applying de-sign, aesthetics andnatural beauty toclothing and its acces-sories. It is influenced

by cultural and socialattitudes, and has var-ied over time and place.Fashion designerswork in a number ofways in designingclothing and accesso-ries such as braceletsand necklaces. Becauseof the time required tobring a garment ontothe market, designersmust at times antici-pate changes to con-sumer tastes.

Designers conductresearch on fashiontrends and interpretthem for their audi-ence. Their specific de-signs are used by man-ufacturers. This is theessence of a designer’srole; however, there isvariation within thisthat is determined bythe buying and mer-chandising approach, and product quality; forexample, budget retail-ers will use inexpensivefabrics to interprettrends, but high-endretailers will ensurethat the best availablefabrics are used.

Fashion designersattempt to designclothes which are func-tional as well as aes-thetically pleasing. They consider who islikely to wear a gar-ment and the situa-tions in which it will beworn, and they workwithin a wide range ofmaterials, colors, pat-terns and styles.Though most clothingworn for everydaywear falls within a nar-row range of conven-tional styles, unusualgarments are usuallysought for special occa-sions such as eveningwear or party dresses.

Some clothes aremade specifically foran individual, as in thecase of haute coutureor bespoke tailoring.Today, most clothing isdesigned for the massmarket, especially ca-sual and every-daywear are called readyto wear.

StructureFashion designers

may work full-time forone fashion house, as

'in-house designers',which owns the de-signs, or they workalone or as part of ateam. Freelance de-signers work forthemselves, sellingtheir designs to fash-ion houses, directly toshops, or to clothingmanufacturers. Thegarments bear thebuyer's label. Somefashion designers setup their own labels, under which theirdesigns are market-ed. Some fashion de-signers are self-em-ployed and design forindividual clients.Other high-end fash-ion designers cater tospecialty stores orhigh-end fashion de-partment stores. These designers cre-ate original gar-ments, as well asthose that follow es-tablished fashiontrends. Most fashiondesigners, however, work for apparelmanufacturers, cre-ating designs ofmen's, women's, andchildren's fashionsfor the mass market.Large designerbrands which have a'name' as their brandsuch as Abercrombie& Fitch, Justice, orJuicy are likely to bedesigned by a team ofindividual designersunder the direction ofa design director.

Designing a garmentFashion designers

work in differentways. Some sketchtheir ideas on paper, while others drapefabric on a dressform. When a design-er is completely sat-isfied with the fit ofthe toile (or muslin),he or she will consulta professional patternmaker who thenmakes the finished, working version ofthe pattern out of cardor via a computerizedsystem. Finally, asample garment ismade up and testedon a model to makesure it is an opera-tional outfit.

What Is WrongWith Indian Cricket

Cricket is a game of uncertainty and thetwists and turns in the game is too much forasking of a cricket enthusiast. But still peoplehave the option to predict and support the homeside. But a blind support is not required to showenthusiasm and national spirit. When the gamewas extended to day two, the odds were evenfor both the sides. New Zealand took advan-tage of the early morning weather condition andused the swing bowlers to their advantage. Ter-

rible Tuesday gave the New Zealand side anx-ious moments and on the second day, the weath-er conditions helped the Kiwi side to even outthe first day blues with a brilliant bowling per-formance.

Despite the low total, New Zealand did notgive up the game like how the Indian batsmengave up. While some may laud Hardik Pandyabut overall it was a flop, show flopped when itmattered the most. Rishabh Pant deserved itand should be banished from the highest leaguefor atleast another two years for him to firstfeel the loss of players like Rayudu and thenmature as an individual. Despite getting bigan opportunity, he totally messed it up.

Next, let the old lion die gracefully and whatI mean Dhoni, while there has been a growingclamor for his blood, it is high time that likesof Yograj and Manjrekar first measure up theirown contribution to the game before makingstatements. Additionally banish the current

selectors like MSK Prasad, whose contributionseven as player of Andhra is not remembered.

Finally stop the IPL which is just the bar danceavatar of the mujra that one day cricket is themuch forgotten ballet of test cricket. Indian play-ers make more money in IPL in one year thanthe collective sum of all money from winning aOne day title once every 4 years. India died with-out honor and it was Dhoni and Jadeja who weremartyred. Ravindra Jadeja the bits and piecesplayer failed to hold the game together as TeamIndia crashed like a proverbial house of cards. Youplay with bits and pieces player or an ordinaryplayer but should not show partiality as our cap-tain did in case of Ravi Ashwin. Now New Zealandhad the last laugh and missed out a classy offspinner due to complacency and the partisan ap-proach. The two spinners promoted by the cap-tain were found wanting when really matteredand the World Cup slipped out of our grasp.

The so called top order was a novice againstswinging deliveries. We are weak on the off stumpand the opposition exploited to the hilt. Captainshuffled across for nth time to get out tamely andwasted a DRS as well. The way a catch was takenfrom the edge of Karthik, couple of well judgedskiers by skipper Williamson and the masterstroke of a run out by Martin Guptill were classact in a winning cause. Ravindra Jadeja’s all roundeffort was in vain. Dhoni is a very slow starterand not a finisher now-a-days. In all we playedinto the New Zealander’s hands and lost tamelyin the end.

The team played for individual records and forindividual excellence. For example, two valuableDRS referrals were lost by Team India in the twoinnings. First Martin Guptill escaped a LBW ap-peal and we lost a review and when Virat Kohliwas palpably out LBW the referal was made byskipper and it went abegging again. How long acaptain follow arrogant methods and try to teachothers always. Now a lesson is taught by the NewZealanders to the number one side.

The team selection was bad from the momentit was picked up by the selectors. Nearly 4 wicketkeepers in the side was a luxury and the absenceof an off spinner against left handed batsmen of

the opposition was just a mockery of the starspinner. The team paid price for that and 18runs defeat is not a narrow one. Both Jadejaand Dhoni got out when the target was mount-ing and the balls left were less. Dhoni and oth-ers were responsible for playing dot balls andfelt the daunting task in the end. The meek sur-render was witnessed at the end.

The level of captaincy for a crunch game wastotally missing from the Indian skipper. Helacked imagination and think tank was med-dling with selection more frequently. The pacespearhead Shami was dropped for the Kiwi gameand we lost a trump card bowler. Instead wemanaged with an ordinary bowling of Y. Cha-hal. He gifted runs in both bowling and fieldingand not a good bat also when 22 runs were need-ed. In all it was pathetic show. We need to builta team from the scratch leaving all our favorit-ism and dislikes for making of a winning team.We lost the Champions Trophy final to Paki-stan by over 180 runs and lost out the semi fi-nal to a much deserving side by 18 runs.

Good move by BEST The reduction of BEST bus fares to Rs 5

for a journey of up to 5 km is a good move in-deed. The BEST should’ve thought of this longback instead of having to incur losses all theseyears. Now I hope more people will travel bybus instead of travelling by share autos and sharetaxis.

With the reduction in fares, I hope the con-ductor has the change to give back to passen-gers who give them a Rs 10 note for a ticket ofRs 5.

Stop abortion Abortion is a horrendous crime and a great

sin as it puts to an end to an innocent life. It isthe ending of pregnancy before birth which re-sults in the death of an embryo or a fetus. Choos-ing abortion for any reason, no matter how jus-tifiable it appears to be, also poses a great riskto the mother.

Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)Ebola virus disease (EVD), also known as

Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) or simply Ebo-la, is a viral hemorrhagic fever of humans andother primates caused by ebolaviruses. Signs andsymptoms typically start between two days andthree weeks after contracting the virus with afever, sore throat, muscular pain, and headaches.Vomiting, diarrhea and rash usually follow, along with decreased function of the liver andkidneys. At this time, some people begin to bleedboth internally and externally. The disease hasa high risk of death, killing between 25 and 90percent of those infected, with an average ofabout 50 percent. This is often due to low bloodpressure from fluid loss, and typically followssix to sixteen days after symptoms appear.

The virus spreads through direct contactwith body fluids, such as blood from infectedhumans or other animals. Spread may also oc-cur from contact with items recently contami-nated with bodily fluids. Spread of the diseasethrough the air between primates, including hu-mans, has not been documented in either labo-ratory or natural conditions. Semen or breastmilk of a person after recovery from EVD may

carry the virus for several weeks to months. Fruitbats are believed to be the normal carrier in na-ture, able to spread the virus without being af-fected by it. Other diseases such as malaria, chol-era, typhoid fever, meningitis and other viral hem-orrhagic fevers may resemble EVD. Blood sam-ples are tested for viral RNA, viral antibodies orfor the virus itself to confirm the diagnosis.

Control of outbreaks requires coordinatedmedical services and community engagement. This includes rapid detection, contact tracing ofthose who have been exposed, quick access to lab-oratory services, care for those infected, and prop-er disposal of the dead through cremation or buri-al. Samples of body fluids and tissues from peoplewith the disease should be handled with specialcaution. Prevention includes limiting the spreadof disease from infected animals to humans byhandling potentially infected bushmeat only whilewearing protective clothing, and by thoroughlycooking bushmeat before eating it. It also includes

wearing proper protective clothing and wash-ing hands when around a person with the dis-ease. An Ebola vaccine has been studied in Afri-ca with promising results. No specific treatmentis available, although a number of potentialtreatments are being studied. Supportive efforts, however, improve outcomes. This includes ei-ther oral rehydration therapy (drinking slight-ly sweetened and salty water) or giving intrave-nous fluids as well as treating symptoms.

The disease was first identified in 1976 intwo simultaneous outbreaks: one in Nzara (atown in South Sudan) and the other in Yam-buku (Democratic Republic of the Congo), a vil-lage near the Ebola River from which the dis-ease takes its name. EVD outbreaks occur in-termittently in tropical regions of sub-SaharanAfrica. Between 1976 and 2013, the WorldHealth Organization reports a total of 24 out-breaks involving 1,716 cases. The largest out-break to date was the epidemic in West Africa, which occurred from December 2013 to Janu-ary 2016 with 28,616 cases and 11,310 deaths. It was declared no longer an emergency on 29March 2016. Other outbreaks in Africa beganin the Democratic Republic of the Congo in May2017, and 2018.
