The CIMA qualifications in Islamic Finance

CIMA Advanced Diploma in Islamic

Finance (CADIF)

A new qualification from CIMA

When developing its original qualification in Islamic finance, it was always CIMA’s intention to create a series of tiered qualifications. The original qualification gave a broad level of knowledge and understanding of Islamic finance. CIMA has now developed a route whereby those interested in Islamic finance can enter and exit their studies at a level which suits their circumstances.

Following on from the CIMA certificates in Islamic Finance and the CIMA Diploma in Islamic Finance, CIMA have now developed a higher-level qualification; the Advanced Diploma in Islamic Finance.

Who is it for?If you are looking to develop your expertise in Islamic finance then the CIMA advanced diploma is for you. This is achieved through the application of its principles to real life situations, which will increase your confidence in applying the knowledge first hand in your current and future roles.

The qualification explainedThe CIMA Advanced Diploma in Islamic Finance (CADIF) is a single self-learning unit. This case-based module focuses on your ability to apply the knowledge and understanding gained from the CIMA Diploma in Islamic Finance or, if you are a direct entrant, your own career experience. It is designed to test your ability to formulate, construct, appraise and recommend appropriate product structures and relevant strategies.

There are five main sections within the advanced diploma:• Shari’ah contracts, structuring process and

financial environment• Islamic banking system and products• Equity, Sukuk and fixed income instruments• Takaful and Retakaful models and policies• Islamic risk-management tools and

strategies.

The estimated time to complete the course is six months.

of the implications of Islamic finance in business strategy.

• The ability to apply Islamic finance principles to the analysis of Islamic financial products and services.

• Knowledge in assessing the impact of structuring on a financial institution.

• The ability to develop innovative products and solutions for the Islamic finance services industry.

Upon completion of the advanced diploma, you will be able to use the honorific letters CADIF after your name.

questions about the course and its contents• dedicated course forums on our online

There are five diets of assessment per year for the CADIF. Check the assessment information at www.cimaglobal.com/if for dates that suit you.

How to enrolYou can enrol in the CADIF in two ways:

1) after completion of the Diploma in Islamic Finance – previously known as the CIMA Certificate in Islamic Finance, or

2) by direct entry on completion of a gateway exam.

The direct entry route is available for those who feel they have sufficient knowledge of the subject area and do not need to complete the diploma. Direct entrants need to successfully complete a separate entry test based around the four assessments used for the diploma.

We strongly recommend that direct entry students use the study guides provided by the diploma before attempting the gateway assessment when wishing to enrol onto the CADIF.
