The Austrian National CIMAC Committee has

the pleasure of organising the 25 th CIMAC

World Congress on Combustion Engines scheduled

for 21 – 24 May 2007 in Vienna/Austria.

It was a special honour for us to have been awarded this Silver Jubilee event by CIMAC, an organization which has been acting for morethan 50 years as a lively and attractive forum forengine and turbine builders and users. Today,CIMAC is the most important platform for the dialogue between the engine industry's technicalexperts and its customers.

The Congress is devoted to the presentation of papers in the fields of marine, power generation and locomotive engine engineering coveringstate-of-the-art technologies as well as the application of such engines. Moreover, the event provides the unique opportunity to meet colleagues andcustomers from the industry around the world.

Vienna promises to stand out as one of the most successful CIMAC conferences. Never before have so many papers been submitted for selectionand an informative and high-quality meeting is guaranteed. An exhibition,

covering an area of 700 m2, will complement the technical sessions.

Social events enabling you and your accompanying partner to experienceAustrian culture and gain memorable impressions of Vienna will round offyour stay in this beautiful city.

There are many reasons to come to Vienna. We look forward to seeing you at the Vienna Hofburg.

Karl M. Wojik

President of the 25th CIMAC World Congress

Vienna, the former capital of a multi-cultural empire in the heart of Europe, has become an international meeting point, a culture cross-road and a gateway between Eastern and Western Europe. Vienna has a long tradition of hostinginternational events: The Vienna Congress was held in 1814/15, when the newEuropean Order after the victory over Napoleon I was established.Vienna also has important characteristics needed to qualify as one of the bestcongress-cities. The city offers a wide range of cultural highlights (theatres, cabarets, historical and modern museums); musical entertainment (the Vienna Boys Choir, the Viennese Philharmonic Orchestra, the ViennaOpera Ball); typical Viennese specialities (Vienna coffee houses, SacherTorte, Mozartkugeln) as well as breathtaking architecture (Romanticistmonuments, Baroque palaces and Art Nouveau buildings).

The Hofburg Congress Centre occupies a unique position among the congresscenters of the world. The state rooms of the Imperial Palace, the former residence of the Habsburgs, have maintained their original character despitebeing fitted out with the latest technical equipment. This impressive conferencevenue combines tradition with the requirements of a modern congress.

Detailed information about the registration and hotel accommodation will besent to you with the Preliminary Programme in mid September. You will thenhave the possibility to either register online at www.cimac.com or by sending usthe completed registration form. Together with the registration you will also beable to book your preferred hotel, social programme and excursions. The registration will start in mid September.

We have organised an exciting and varied Social Programme for you, whichwill consist of an Opening Ceremony, a Welcome Reception, a Gala Dinnerand the traditional ABB Evening. In order to present you an entertainingimpression of Vienna we have selected traditional venues and themes.
